do you know the children's place store? or just any children's stores? i don't recall if CP did one last year - i do remember getting email blast from them about 2 days before BF though.

They normally will have sales, but unfortunately for items like engagement rings, solitaires, and diamond stud earrings those sales aren't hugely discounted. In fact, inside tip. I worked at Zales - the max we were allowed to discount engagement rings were 10% at any given time of the year. HOWEVER, if the ring is $2k plus, and you are paying CASH you can bargain a bit more - you just need the employee to get their district manager's approval. (zales & gordons = same company same policy) hth and congrats!

ok. this is posted in the store hours list... but i've it confirmed now. it's not 2 am though. Disney store is opening at 3 am. ok, a few more stores are confirmed. talked to employees at locations. one thing i learned - Children's Place is apparently going to vary region to region as is Hot Topic. They will open at whatever time your local mall opens. CP manager told me that if there is a crowd waiting outside their store they will open early though. ok. now i'm going to go add Home Depot to the list. although i thought they opened earlier.

this is harder for me to confirm as there isn't one in my area. still waiting to hear back on a few of my emails though!

i really wish we had one of those here. that's a great price on the air compressor. i haven't seen one under $100 and i've been searching for a few months now.

if you have Cricket phones in your area I would look into them too. all of their 'plans' come with unlimited messages and unlimited calls to anywhere (so long as you're in a cricket calling area). there is one plan that you get unlimited calls, text, 411, etc etc too. you pay it on a monthly basis, and can do so at one of their cash payment centers (looks like an atm - usually in a convenience store or cell phone store). also can pay online and over the phone. don't pay the bill on time? phone shuts off til you pay it. you've 30 days before they give your phone number to someone else. you can't go over what you pay into it, but you can set up a "flex" account which basically you pop in a few extra bucks when you feel like it to buy ringers etc. they've great customer service, and although they're relatively new to the market, they are growing.

i'm avoiding FP like the plague. Little Tikes sent out an awesome email that listed all of their made in America toys. I will try to find it and post up a link. Pretty much her toys are Little Tikes or home made. For example I made a beanbag animal chair and I'm working on a chaise lounge kids chair. Also made a teddy bear, a raggedy ann & andy. For younger kids (like my dd) I think stuffed animals and things of that nature are great. The chairs I'm making are her big girl chairs. One is for the 'game room' (isn't every room int he house a gameroom?) and the other is big enough for her, but small enough to take with us for family dinners at the relatives house. ugh. yes. my dad owned a business that was right next to kohls. the line used to wrap down in front of his business and then past two more stores!

blackout is common for most, if not all, retail businesses. every company that i worked for blacked us out from the Thursday BEFORE BF until Jan 5th. a lot of the mall anchors were open on thanksgiving for reduced hours/friends & family, and if they were some stores chose to open for a few hours those days too (i always hated that, my stores never did bf sales, never understood the rationale on being open on turkey day if you're not doing a sale) i will say.. when it was just me, living alone and i had no family nearby i STILL didn't want to work on Thanksgiving. Wednesday would be a night on the town, and Thursday I cooked turkey for all of my other family-deprived friends.

i don't know if this is for all the new ones. ours just opened last month and they have self-checkout. maybe that's just because there aren't many people living in my area yet.
