SillyDogTrix
Everything went well and calm, WHICH WAS A GOOD THING BECAUSE I EXPECTED ALOT OF CUSSING AND PUSHING. I didnt know what to expect because this was my first BF. I dropped my bro at Staples to get in line. Then I got to Sears around 4:30am. Once the doors opened, people sorta ran in to get in line to pay for the hot items. I waited for about 45 mins before I got my TV paid for and I bolted to get the TV at the pick up line. Woo Hoo After that, I headed over to Staples. My bro got the ticket for the laptop so from there everything was done.
SillyDogTrix
Oh and then I wanted to head over to Circuit City to look at things. There were long lines by the entrance and I was like forget it! Finally I got to Walmart, again long line for paying. I was there to look at items for my brother. We left because we didnt wanna wait lol
ginabarrett
I started at midnight at a local mall. It was very busy and Gymboree was a joke. There were such rude people getting their hold bags brought up and holding up line. There were 2 coats. 2. Guess who got them I did have my extra 20% off coupon. Then I went to The Chilren's Place and got a ton of stuff. I attracted the attention of a local reporter/photographer there and made the newspaper (gave gottadeal.com its props!!!) http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Site=D2&Date=20081128&Category=NEWS&ArtNo=811280801&Ref=PH&Params=Itemnr=1 (Thats me on pic 1, and 4 more pics...) and there was an article http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081128/NEWS/81128002 After that we went to WalMart, TRU, Menards, Kohls, Target, Michaels, and another WalMart. I did just over $285 in price adjustments (That is what I got back) and was so surprised at how well it went. WM was a mess and so frustrating. They had 10 wii games, not 10 titles, 10 games total. I had a good time in general, there were some great people and some embarrasing excuses for people... probably the same everywhere. Overall a great experience, but I was in stores for 10.5 hours straight and I am exhausted!
laffnatu
I picked up alot of blurays and several video games yesterday. Hubby stayed up til 3am playing Fallout 3, one of ds' christmas presents on the PS3. DS spent the night at my brother's house. DH passed out and dd and I went to JCpennys. Picked up several pair of jeans, shirts, fleece sweaters and leather jacket. We were at Walmart by 530. DD picked up 11 pair of the sleep pants for me and my mom. She was elbowed a few times and was ready to get home afterwards. I picked up: 8 towels, 2 fleece hoodies, 11 sleep pants, 2 of the storage containers, crockpot, sheet set, stick vac, supernatural season 1 & 2 and 300. I let dd go home and I went to BBW and picked up a bunch of wallflowers for $5 each and bought the VIP bag. (Great deal!) I went home and decided to go back to Walmart. Picked up a few more things and came home to wrap some gifts. I have to go back to Walmart and return the Glow Station, some pjs and sheets. I found out that the kid I bought the Glow Station and pjs for probably wouldn't like them. I'm taking the sheets back and am going to pick up some fleece sheets instead. rst02
I got the Sony BR player on Thanksgiving day that was normally $299.99 for $179.99 from K-mart, a 800 thread count sateen sheet set that was normally $159.99 for $59.99 from Kohls, and some movies for the BR player that were normally $32.99 each for only $9.99 each from Meijer. dad2trips
BTW - My BB in Cleveland has about half the people in line that it did at opening one year ago. Really curious how sales went today.
1tiredlady
My day.... Went to Penney's to get the snowglobe and then on to Walmart. It was worse than I had ever seen it before. Lines of people Everywhere. There were a couple of fights (not me lol). Police in several areas. Checking EVERY receipt as going out the door. I stood in line for the Samsung Camera for 1 1/2 hours. My husband went and got the Trampoline. We got separated and I thought I was going to be a single woman for the rest of my life... I finally found him. I did get a DS game, some LEI jeans.. they were out of Pixos, HSM3 dolls, and everything else I wanted. I wanted the BOGOF potted Christmas trees from Walgreens.... Gone. I wanted the $15 Tote from B&BW..... gave the last one to the lady in front of me. I wanted the Magic set and Roseart shimmer Nail thing from Kmart.... gone again. Not a Great day, but not bad either. I haven't figured out yet if it was worth it.
jenirvt
For the first time in 3 years, I didn't go stand in line anywhere. I got up at 3AM to browse through the Amazon and Walmart online sales, and bought DD the Crayola Magic light brush thing she wanted from the Walmart online sale. Found a carpet cleaner for my sister and BIL (they asked for one) on Amazon for under $60. Went back to bed til 6:30, got up and went to Meijer for the Littlest Pet Shop playset - they had TONS left and the store wasn't crowded at all...I walked right up to an empty U-Scan and was in and out of there in under 10 min. Headed to the mall to take advantage of some clothing store sales and got DD some books at Barnes and Noble. I am just about finished with shopping at this point, but I've been shopping for a while now. My "secret storage place" that I stash all the Christmas gifts in is practically packed full of stuff! CrazyNurse
Pre-black Friday: Got two Panny BD35s for $149 each. Camped out for 7 hours w/my bro @ Fry's Electronics. -We picked up a Panny 42" Plasma for $598 (same model and $100 cheaper than Sears). -Picked up a Panny cordless phone set for $50, Mummy 1 & 2 Blurays for $9 each, and finally -picked up a Canon SD1100 for $139. The Fry's line snaked all the way around the building, and once inside, it was a mad scramble for TVs and $300 Notebooks.
busybeex3
Got up at 5:30 and headed out to Target for 6 a.m. What a wonderful experience. It was crowded and a long line, but the store manager walked all the way down the line explaining they had plenty of stock on items and no running was allowed. If anyone had a problem, then please report it to store personnel and the offenders would be escorted out and not allowed to return for the entire weekend. I thought that was great -- no mass rush. They still had a good # of the 26 Inch Westinghouse TV's left when I left at 7:15. I got the XBox 360 +$60 gift card, a Kodak picture frame (which was an impulse buy...LOL) and Littlest Pet Shop for DD. Looked around at some other stuff, but didn't hang around because I had to work today. I then went to Walmart just to see if it was crazy there, and I had 45 minutes to waste before work...LOL I managed to get a clickstart game on clearance for $15. I really wanted to get the $45 ripstick for my oldest son, but he was with me and so I wouldn't buy it... he wants a drum set anyway, so I'll hold off and get him that. Went to work and logged on to see what I could snag while I was at work. I've done most of my shopping online anyway, but my biggest "get" this year was the Eyeclops Bionicam for $35....that just thrilled me. Now to return the Bionic Eye I got for $24.99...LOL Overall, a good day! Oh yeah, and I got off work early...plenty of shopping time left. :)
JohnnyLaRue
Rolled into the BB line around 4am like always. Had a few cops roaming the area this year. Funny thing was one of them was a twin of the small, soft spoken woman from the Police Academy movies. Line was not that large according to those in line from years past (1/3 less). I was the entertainment of my section of the line. I guess cause I was had shorts and a t-shirt on oh and a cool light up santa hat on too! (I explained I am originally from Canada) and got a lot of questions and told lots of stories. Met a nice guy from P.I who was on vacation and was stocking up on deals. He said something about buying 4 goats (yes I said goats) and getting them sent back to his town. The employees handed out ads and took names on a list since they said a few of the doorbusters they did not have enough of so if you gave them your name they would give you a rain cheque! Something about how you had to go to the customer service centre inside when you got inside to get the rain cheque. Only two incidents was : Some younger kid walked down the line and shouted how he had camped out for 4 days to get a ticket and was looking to sell it. Well, he found a buyer and then the cops caught him and took him over the police car! What a dummy! I mean at least be discreet about it! Dunno what happened to him but he was crying when my part of the line passed the car. Also some people got mad cause they never mentioned the $279 laptop was a misprint and they never said anything until you got into the store! At least according to the people complaining. i just heard some loud voice say "I waited inline for 2 days for nothing then"? The line at BB moved quick and I was able for the 4th year in a row to get what I wanted. Plenty of good items left. I found the HD camera I wanted and took an HDTV listed on the ad. Also grabbed that $59 camera. I walked around the store to look for other deals and saw a lady who was asking if they had the HDTV I had. I felt generous and told her she could have mine as I really did not NEED the HDTV. I also putback the HD video camera as I felt it was an impulse buy and not really a good deal. (I'd rather spend my BF $$$ in Europe when I am on vacation next month) Got inline and put the digital camera down. Ended up buying the 8gb flash drive. Cashier said that is all? I laughed and said I started with more but changed my mind during the long wait. Left BB at 6am and went to Fry's and met my friend there (he wanted to sleep in). He got himself a GPS for under $100 and that was it as his budget was $100. I got another cheap flash drive. The line was SUPER LONG checking out! All the way around the store! About a 90 minute or longer wait inline! I grabbed a magazine or two from upfront and read it while waiting. We also managed to get food from the cafe inline as well. Stopped at GameCrazy saw nothing of interest, got food from Carls Jr and went home and took a nap. Just woke up. Maybe it was just me but it was not as busy as previous years. Also I noticed lots of high end items still available at BB and even at Frys. But glad everyone who posted had a nice time.
freesia39
Went to Macy's and got there at 515am. No parking problems, no line, got what I wanted (the Pyrex 11 piece set) and also got some pants. I also had a pretty bored husband following me around. I told him to stay home but he was convinced I was going to get kidnapped. Went to Best Buy for a laugh, and nearly got trapped inside trying to get out. yellowlilax
Walmart - 1st Stop Got the Samsung camera - was 5th in line and only got there 1/2 hour before opening. Ours were behind the photo counter and people started reaching over the counter and grabbing and security put the smack down on that. Classy of the classiest at walmart of course. We have 4 walmarts in this town, so the crowds were disbursed among them making it easier for us! Got the case for that and the JVC Camcorder and case for that. WOOHOO!!! kren
At JCP for the snowglobe. Went to Bon-Ton for the $19.99 down alternative comforter (all sizes) - marked down from $120-$160. To Sears for the $9.99 men's/women's jeans and $14.99 sweater. Got an old GBA game that'll work on DD's DS for $9. Went to 5 Below & got 5 Leapster games for $5 apiece, 2 Lego Knights for $1 apiece, 5 old PC games for $5 apiece, and DD's stylus three-pack for the DS for $3. Stopped in Old Navy but the MP3 players were long gone so I went next door to BB and bought Game Party for Wii for $9.99, the iTunes $10 gift card three-pack for $25, and another old DS game -- Looney Tunes -- for $14.99. Drove to Staples, got a 4 gig CF card for $17.99, drove to Target and picked up an SD card for $8.88, another Wii game -- the Rapid Rabids or whatever it is -- for $39, a camera starter kit for $8.88 and that's enough. I saw plenty of Westinghouse 26" TVs left, and plenty of the $88 dual-screen DVD players. Seemed like everything was still in stock at most places. bargainchaser
I have to say I had a pleasant Black Friday! I met some really great people! Went to WaMart at 4:15 am and scored on the Wii and Ds games. Also got jammies, slippers, and Pixos! We were through the line and done by 5:30. I met some really cool people while waiting for the shrink wrap to come off! Thankfully our WM is open 24 hours so we were able to line up around what we really wanted! Then off to Old Navy. Michaels, and Gymboree, and Target. As my sweet husband and I came out of Old Navy we were handed FREE chicken bisquits if we went to Chick Fil A. We got bisquits, hash browns, and much needed caffeine for under $4.00! I have to say that the stores and employees were all very organized and patient this year! Bless them all for putting up with us determined shoppers! Also had to add that I went to Bed Bath and Beyond for something that was in their ad and they were all out. The employee called another store (apparently close to his house) and is personally picking the items up for me and calling me tomorrow to come back and get them. I told him that I could hug him and that I REALLY appreciated it. My husband and I both walked out shocked! There really are some wonderful people put there!! Exhausted but feel very accomplished.. Now I need to start wrapping :)
lesliepear
I left the house around 5:30 and came home around 10 AM - I hit Staples, CVS, Walgreens, Sears, Target, Gymboree, another CVS and then Rite Aide. Got just about all I wanted - couldn't get the razor at CVS. Was able to get the 10" TV at Walgreens which is pretty nice (just myself and one other person there at 7 AM, the other person wanted something else). Have a bunch of rebates to fill out for Staples, Walgreens and Rite Aide. Our Gymboree and Mall were very dead at around 9 AM - not sure if this was because it was an upscale mall and is usually quieter or not - Gymboree was fully stocked and the Gap in the same mall had someone sitting on the floor restocking boys socks which isn't something you'd think they'd have time to do on BF. jbdinos
My sister and I have Brad to thank for a peaceful morning at Walmart. There were long lines everywhere and people got into actual fights at Kmart. Even parts of Walmart were chaos, but I didn't suffer from that thanks to Brad!!!! Here's how it all happened... I got up at 2:15 am (after going to bed at 11pm) and we headed out just before 3 for an hour drive to go shopping. Since it was very warm today for Black Friday I wore a long sleeve T-shirt with my GD BF shirt over it. I didn't need a coat/jacket... because it was warm and we were waiting at WM first. My neice wanted LEI jeans and I wanted the HP printer/scanner/copier for 29.99. We get there and they gave us a map. No "control" by the clothing so we picked up the jeans and got them in our cart at 4 am.....then we went back to the printers. As we walk up the 398 desktops are next to them and a guy is ripping the plastic off. He sees me and just stares for a minute trying to hide what he did and started whispering to the guy next to him and they didn't do anything else but stand there nicely. My sister stood across the aisle in the clothing dept for me to hand the printers over...I just backed up to the skid and leaned against it for a place to "rest" for an hour... There was chaos in electronics, toys, etc.. people pushing, shoving blocking the aisles with carts.. typical Black Friday. But "my" skid and the ones on either side of me were great. And I just stood there.. no one crowded me...no one was rude...no one tried to sneak a printer out Do you know why? Well a man that I used to go to church with came along and I was talking to him. He said "how long you been working here" and I said "I don't". He said 'OH are you volunteering' and pointed to my GD shirt. Apparently I looked very "official" and no one messed with me or "my" skid... I owe my thanks to BRAD for making this all possible... lol

Went to look at Best buy at 8.00 am and the store was empty. My son got a couple CD's and we were off. Went to Kolhs and bought a Christmas present about 9:00am and then to walgreens for the Webkins and then home by 10:00 I will say we were in Walmart at 1:00am so she could get the TV and my Son did a fine job of getting it for her. lacy883
started at WM around 8:30, things were calm, no pussing, quick checktout. Got all I wanted, which was just dvd's and they still had plenty of most of the other bf items too. Took a break, had to go into the office for a bit Hit tagret around 11, it was a madhouse, people were pussing, shoving, moving my cart and just being rude. I thought by that time most people would be out of the stores but I gues not. Got the dvd's I was looking for there too but could not find any of the barware sets. Across the parking lot to borders, the book set I wanted wasnt on sale. So went to FYE for, yup, more dvd's! Couldnt decide which I wanted to get for my hubby but after I got home I figured it out so I'm going back tommorow. Went into Big Lots just for fun, because it was there, didnt buy anything, would have gotten some cheap chewys for my dog but the lines were way too long. Heading to lowes in the am to hopefully pick up a dremel for hubby.
rockets34life
I missed out the last couple of years for BF (last big BF purchase -Walmart BF Laptop back in 2005), but I needed a laptop this year. Went for the $349 HP Laptop at Office Depot (it was really $399 + $50 MIR - didn't see a MIR star on the list of BF laptops for BF GottaDeal). Stood in line from 10:30p last night til' opening, freezing my butt off. Got the laptop - typing on it right now as we speak.....so far so good! Also got 2 50-pack CD spindles for $10. Then moved onto Walmart after the BF massacre. Got the Walmart Food Processor for $5 and 27 DVDs (Wedding Crashers, Cat in the Hat, Spiderman 1 and 2, etc.) for ~$60 w/ tax - not going to pass up $2 DVDs! Then went to JCPenney and Kohls - wife got some clothes from JCPenney, but we didn't see much at Kohls. But to end my BF, I got interviewed by a local TV station while walking back to my car w/ my wife in the rain. Wrong place, wrong time.....raining, looking like crap, and being up since 6am on 11/27. My wife is [sarcasm]anxious[/sarcasm] to see how much of a dork I look on TV.
uscboy
First in line at Babies R Us - got a ton of diapers and wipes and got the baby furniture deal that gives you the $399 lifetime crib for free. HUGE set though - only the dresser/changing table would fit in my Pathfinder - went over to Home Depot and rented a truck at 6:05am. After that second trip to Babies R Us we returned the rental truck and went to Office Depot and got one of their 7" picture frames. Then Kohls cause I needed new shoes they had on sale and the wife wanted one of their snowflake necklaces - priced $375 (yeah right), on sale for $129.99, early bird price of $99.99. Later tonight we're going to Best Buy in hopes they still have one of the Harmony 550 remotes for the father in law.
