  8. A TRU manager's response to them open on Thanksgiving Day ______________________________________________________________________________ "I am a manager with Toys R Us and have been with the company for 10 years. Today on our weekly national conference call it was announced that we will be open on Thanksgiving Day. This may not come as a shock to the average consumer, but to a retail worker who only typically has three guaranteed days off a year (Easter, Thanksgiving, and Xmas) this was disturbing. It was presented to the stores as capitalizing on a competitive advantage. This information is supposed to be highly confidential but I just feel like calling bull**** on these arrogant corporate assholes who will be enjoying Thanksgiving with their families whilst the true workers will be working and preparing for the busiest shopping day of the year. Also, we will be opening at midnight Thanksgiving Day to enjoy another competitive advantage. Signed, Soon to be former Toys "R" Us Kid" ______________________________________________________________________________ I can understand everyone's excitement with TRU opening on Thanksgiving but when it takes away 1 of the 3 guaranteed days off a year than I would rather them be closed. How do you feel?
  9. I went to my local Kohl's today(Mishawaka,In.) and they have there Christmas stuff out already.
  10. Can someone post a link to this site? Thanks.
  11. Union Responds To Death of Long Island Wal-mart Worker Demands Federal Safety Agency and Nassau County Prosecutor Investigate QUEENS VILLAGE, NY (11/28/2008)-- United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500, New York State's largest grocery workers Union, has called for an immediate investigation by Federal, State and Local authorities into the "avoidable" death of a Wal-mart worker at the Valley Stream, Long Island Wal-mart. Specifically, the Union has called on the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the New York State Department of Labor and the Nassau County Prosecutor to investigate Wal-mart's failure to provide a safe workplace. "This incident was avoidable," said Bruce Both, President of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500. "Where were the safety barriers? Where was security? How did store management not see dangerous numbers of customers barreling down on the store in such an unsafe manner?" asked President Both. "This is not just tragic; it rises to a level of blatant irresponsibility by Wal-mart. UFCW Local 1500 will demand a full investigation by all levels of Government to ensure both justice for the surviving family members and to ensure the safety of current employees and the general public. This can never be allowed to happen again and those responsible must be held accountable," Both concluded. Director of Special Projects for Local 1500 Patrick Purcell called Wal-mart's comments in response to the incident both "cold and heartless." "If the safety of their customers and workers was a top priority, then this never would have happened," Purcell stated. "Wal-mart must step up to the plate and ensure that all those injured, as well as the family of the deceased, be financially compensated for their injuries and their losses. Their words are weak. The community demands action," Purcell concluded. Purcell also suggested that people visit the website http://www.walmartcrimereport.com/ to review other incidents of Wal-mart not providing a safe work and shopping experience. United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500, based out of Queens Village, represents over 23,000 grocery workers in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. Members of Local 1500 are employed by Pathmark, King Kullen, Stop and Shop, Gristedes, Fairway, D'agastinos, Key Food and Shop Rite.
  12. I got the Sony BR player on Thanksgiving day that was normally $299.99 for $179.99 from K-mart, a 800 thread count sateen sheet set that was normally $159.99 for $59.99 from Kohls, and some movies for the BR player that were normally $32.99 each for only $9.99 each from Meijer.
  13. To all those who trampled this poor guy and those who did nothing to help him I hope there is a special place in H@@l for them. I'm sorry if this sounds rough but there is NO excuse in the world for what happened to this guy.
  14. I just called mine and they said they just have 5 in and they will be handing out tickets for them and they will not be doing rain checks for them. What I don't understand is it's on sale for both Thanksgiving and BF so how are they going to get away with only having a limited number for both day's and NOT giving out rain checks?
