I went to my Target last night. They had 20 halloween barbies for full price, $10.

How are these not marked down? Do they ever mark these down?

The Sunday paper had a coupon for Airwick flameless candle $5.00 off. At Target, they are priced $4.99. The cashier nor the manager would let me use the coupon!

At CVS, the candles are $9.99. I'm going to try Wal mart.

That is nuts. Last week I redeemed two $5.00 coupons on these items with no problems whatsoever; the cashier did have to key in the amounts manually since they wouldn't scan. Your store is definitely violating both Target and the manufacturers' policies, and it is bad business practice to drive you away to another store! I would complain to the manager.

BTW, I have also returned items that I used coupons on and they refund me the full amount, including the value of the coupon (if they didn't, they would essentially be "double-dipping" - making the money off the manufacturer AND the customer).

I found one of the $2.48 Tinker Bell Color Wonder sets today. I wouldn't have know to scan it if it wasn't for this forum. Incidentally, there was only one for this price. All of the others that I scanned came up for $9.99. The one that I found that was on clearance has a barcode sticker over the original barcode. So check carefully if you are looking for this deal.

Toy clearance:

cabbage patch dolls - 50% off

Mini Cars - 30% off

tons more!!:D hopefully they will go lower soon:D

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how Target sales work?? I've never done this before and now that I have two little ones and a couple of toys I'm very interested in picking up for their B-Days I would really appreciate some help. Also do all the toys go on sale or most?? I'm particularly interested in the V-tech KidiJamz keyboard piano which is now $60 and I'm really hoping to see it below $50 after Christmas.

Lots of Target toys on clearance for 30% off. They are in the aisles, not endcaps.

### Playskool Busy Basics Ball-Tivity Center - $23 - PLUS there is a $5 off peelie that you can use

This goes for the Cars ones I mentioned a few weeks ago. They are mixed in with the not on clearance ones. The clearance ones had the sticker. I grabbed like 5 of them!

There are 2 really big toy sales that happen twice a year... once in early/mid January and then again in late summer... August or so.

Right now is when Target STARTS to mark down their toys. They always start a couple weeks before Christmas with around 30% off. By the time the big sale comes after Christmas, stuff has moved to 50-75% off.

They are just following their normal markdown schedule, really... it's just that there are so many toys around for the January sale that there gets to be a lot of buzz because it's on the heals of Christmas, etc.

Personally, I like the summer sale just as much (if not more). There aren't as many people clamoring for the deals because they are all shopping for back-to-school clothing and supplies. Don't get me wrong, the toys still go fast, but the Target after Christmas sale seems to get crazier every year (IMO). Many stores I went to last year were shutting down the aisles while they marked things down. More people are aware of the timing of the sale I guess.

A majority of the toys go on sale, but not everything...

What kind of markdowns? I forgot how this goes - is this the begining of the big Jan/Feb toy clearance?

Yes. They always start with some of the clearance toys before Christmas in hopes of moving them before they have to drop them lower. They usually stay at 30% a little longer, and they will usually end up dropping all the way to 75% a bit before the rest. Though sometimes not...That said, they are at the standard first markdown of 30%. There really were too many to list, but both of our closest stores were already starting to consolidate it in the aisles they usually use. Mostly they were girl toys, loads of Hannah Montana and baby dolls. Some Little Mommy, Play Doh, Pokemon and other stuff.

My target did not have the Cabbage Kids down to 50% off, they were still $17.xx.

I also noticed some of the house brand toys marked down too, I think 30%.

I found nice Kitchen Towel and potholder sets with an apple print and apple shaped pot holder for $1.24.

When does the Dollar Spot seasonal merchandise get marked down? Will it start the day after Christmas or before? I'm hoping to score some of that short wrapping paper for next year cheaper!

Saw Kota the Triceratops for $99. Must be price matching TRU?

Also saw lots of initial clearance on toys...including the Target brand name of toys (can't remember what they are). They had a little doll in a red dress, a puppy in a sweater, a wooden fire truck, a tea set, a tiara and snow princess sash set, and a cookies set, all for 50% off. got the cookie set for $9.98.

some of the $5, $10, $15 toys also were marked down, but not the ones I was looking for.

I took the one that was ringing up $9.99 to customer service and explained that it was the same exact thing and they gave them both to me for the $2.48. They couldn't explain what that other bar code was...
