  4. I see the first post has not been updated with last year's Chr-stmas clearance dates. Did anyone keep track of them?
  5. Keep in mind, at least at some Targets, every year pallets of seasonal items that never make it out on the sales floor before the holiday continue to arrive and are put out throughout the clearance cycle.
  6. Not to worry about the Hanukkah shares, at least. I figured some people frequented here rather than the Holiday forum, so I was running a concurrent thread here. Last share (for this year) has been posted. Thanks for appreciating the thread.

  8. Reverse order of what I prefer to do, but since we ate out as the kitchen is really not in any condition for festive meal cooking, I had rib roast for Eve and seafood for Day. Eve was the bone-in 24+ oz rib roast at Cody's Roadhouse with their house salad with Bistro/Chipotle ranch. The servers call it different things; it is the dressing served with their fried green tomatoes and is not usually a salad dressing offering. But we find both their regular ranch and their blue cheese way too...mellow? Not sure why we don't care for either of those, but the bistro ranch works great. Also had a sweet potato with cinnamon butter, and a couple of rolls, also with cinnamon butter. The four of us (hyperception's dad is visiting) shared an onion ring stack to start. They are some of the best onion rings I've had. Server rumor, which was told to us at the same time as the rumor about TooJay's closing by two servers at two different establishments and turned out to be true about TooJay's, is that Cody's will soon be closing here in Gator Town. With the tough football season the Gators had this year, I can understand if they do, but we will hope they pull through, both for all the employees who work there, and for our own enjoyment. Day was spent at Amelia's Cucina Casalinga, where I was really tempted by one of the holiday specials of the braised large lamb shank: http://www.ameliasgainesville.com/images/menu_images/LambShank.jpg But, I wasn't in the mood for braised meat, and after the rib roast the day before, was in the mood for seafood. While not on the menu, I did see that they did a sauteed calamari dish and they did a shrimp fra diavolo, so I asked if a calamari fra diavolo was possible. Our server inquired if I wanted especially spicy, and when I nodded he ordered it as calamari arabiatta. I am not sure if the terms are interchangeable, but I do think of them as the same thing most of the time. One of the best versions of the dish, ever. The calamari was the most tender I ever had. I started with a bowl of Zuppa di Escarola, and the meal came with a house salad served with a house vinaigrette and bread bowl. Iced tea, of course. Overall, two lovely meals in good company.

  16. Hi all, long time no see. I have a lot going on this year. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays to cook for, along with Passover. I love dry brining my turkey; roasting it a la Alton Brown; and having planned over meat and the carcass for soup, stock, and various dishes built upon cooked poultry. However, I was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and my surgeon had scheduled me to have my thyroid removed this coming Monday. So, not knowing what recovery and/or further treatment would involve, we scratched any plans for me to cook this year. This is the first year my son is away at college, though. After discussing this with my doctor, she was persuaded to postpone my surgery until the Monday after Thanksgiving, on November 28th. This way my son can come home, spend his break with us, and I’ll be admitted the day after he returns so we can spend all of his break together. My husband and I decided we will make reservations to go to the Best Western Gateway Grand here in Gator Town's Thanksgiving buffet. Their menu looks awesome and the price is reasonable. I will miss having my planned overs and stock, but I have already purchased a small frozen turkey for me to prepare once I have recuperated. So, I foresee me watching the Macy’s parade; going to the buffet midafternoon; hanging with the homies while looking through the sale flyers and planning my Black Friday strategy; and just overall taking it easy. After all, most of all, this holiday is about family and gratitude. With an upcoming battle for my health approaching, I will indulge in and be thankful for as much family togetherness as I can.
  17. Hi SuperDad. Could you explain how you used the expired coupon on these games? Did the cashier notice it was expired or being used on different games than listed on the coupon? Or did it go through without beeping or any other attention brought to it?
  18. *waving from the Seattle, WA area* Hey all. Obviously, I've been traveling the past few days, so thank you to noehlp for posting the reminder about keeping the subject of our posts on clearance finds at Target. Yes, shelf clearers are taking what clearance deals there may be, but we are not here to judge others habits. So, what else has everyone found?
  19. Keep in mind that most likely there will be more stock brought out over the next few days; don't let bare shelves now dishearten you completely. Between stuff coming in from the warehouse that didn't make it to the stores by Chr-stmas, and returns which may be made, those of us who are persistent may still stumble upon the awesome deal at 75% and even 90% off.
  20. Were you trying to use Jingle Cash the same week you received them? My understanding was Jungle Cash issued one week could not be used until the next sale kicked in. Also, were you trying to purchase the same items you received the Jungle Cash for? Maybe they can't be rolled over in that way?
  21. Probably only at 50% off though. While I miss out on some deals, I prefer to wait for at least 75% off, and if there is a lot left of an item, 90% off. I so wish we still had someone posting with access to the Chr-stmas schedule. ...ah well. It was fantastic while it lasted.
  22. I love sausage gravy, but even though I have been in Florida four times longer than in the yankee town where I spent most of my childhood, I have not developed a liking for sausage gravey on biscuits. They get too pastey for me. Instead, I love to ladle it on to extra crispy hash brown potatoes. Yum, yum, yummy...
  23. Standing rib roast for the entree. Any planned overs (I always buy more than I need so I have leftovers) are then made into a luscious beef stroganoff later in the week. yumm...
