  7. Hi all, long time no see. I have a lot going on this year. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays to cook for, along with Passover. I love dry brining my turkey; roasting it a la Alton Brown; and having planned over meat and the carcass for soup, stock, and various dishes built upon cooked poultry. However, I was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and my surgeon had scheduled me to have my thyroid removed this coming Monday. So, not knowing what recovery and/or further treatment would involve, we scratched any plans for me to cook this year. This is the first year my son is away at college, though. After discussing this with my doctor, she was persuaded to postpone my surgery until the Monday after Thanksgiving, on November 28th. This way my son can come home, spend his break with us, and I’ll be admitted the day after he returns so we can spend all of his break together. My husband and I decided we will make reservations to go to the Best Western Gateway Grand here in Gator Town's Thanksgiving buffet. Their menu looks awesome and the price is reasonable. I will miss having my planned overs and stock, but I have already purchased a small frozen turkey for me to prepare once I have recuperated. So, I foresee me watching the Macy’s parade; going to the buffet midafternoon; hanging with the homies while looking through the sale flyers and planning my Black Friday strategy; and just overall taking it easy. After all, most of all, this holiday is about family and gratitude. With an upcoming battle for my health approaching, I will indulge in and be thankful for as much family togetherness as I can.
  8. Hi SuperDad. Could you explain how you used the expired coupon on these games? Did the cashier notice it was expired or being used on different games than listed on the coupon? Or did it go through without beeping or any other attention brought to it?
  9. *waving from the Seattle, WA area* Hey all. Obviously, I've been traveling the past few days, so thank you to noehlp for posting the reminder about keeping the subject of our posts on clearance finds at Target. Yes, shelf clearers are taking what clearance deals there may be, but we are not here to judge others habits. So, what else has everyone found?
  10. Keep in mind that most likely there will be more stock brought out over the next few days; don't let bare shelves now dishearten you completely. Between stuff coming in from the warehouse that didn't make it to the stores by Chr-stmas, and returns which may be made, those of us who are persistent may still stumble upon the awesome deal at 75% and even 90% off.
  11. Were you trying to use Jingle Cash the same week you received them? My understanding was Jungle Cash issued one week could not be used until the next sale kicked in. Also, were you trying to purchase the same items you received the Jungle Cash for? Maybe they can't be rolled over in that way?
  12. Probably only at 50% off though. While I miss out on some deals, I prefer to wait for at least 75% off, and if there is a lot left of an item, 90% off. I so wish we still had someone posting with access to the Chr-stmas schedule. ...ah well. It was fantastic while it lasted.
  13. I love sausage gravy, but even though I have been in Florida four times longer than in the yankee town where I spent most of my childhood, I have not developed a liking for sausage gravey on biscuits. They get too pastey for me. Instead, I love to ladle it on to extra crispy hash brown potatoes. Yum, yum, yummy...
  14. Standing rib roast for the entree. Any planned overs (I always buy more than I need so I have leftovers) are then made into a luscious beef stroganoff later in the week. yumm...

  16. perimeterperusing.com should be up and running now.
  17. Seems like this come up nearly every year. I rotate through various recipes. Here's a post of all of my recipes I originally shared back in 2005: re: Chr-stmas brunch recipes?
  18. Thank you, I noticed that as well and will get a PM in to Brad to see if he can fix it.
  19. The saltines is basically the Matzah Caramel Crunch recipe I use for Passover, substituting saltines for the matzah. Otherwise it is identical. I have to show up at both sederim I attend each year with a batch of this as a hostess gift. Otherwise there are very long faces around the table when dessert is served. Matzah Caramel Crunch Matzah 2 sticks butter 1-1/2 cups brown sugar 2/3 cup pecans 2/3 cup almonds 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup white chocolate chips Kosher sea salt flakes, to taste Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Line sheet with single layer of matzahs (cut them in order to fill the whole tray). In pan over medium heat, melt 2 sticks butter with 1-1/2 cups brown sugar and add pecans and almonds. Bring to a boil and let boil for 3 minutes. Pour directly over the matzahs and place in oven for 15 minutes. Watch to make sure it does not burn (if it does, turn temp down to 325ºF). Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over hot caramel. Allow to soften and spread over caramel with a flat rubber spatula. Sprinkle white chocolate chips over chocolate, allow to soften and then swirl to make a marble effect. Sprinkle very lightly with kosher sea salt flakes. Cool to room temperature, break apart and serve. You can put into the freezer to firm up even more. Pam’s note: To transport, cover with a separate sheet of parchment paper, and then wrap in foil. The melted chocolate and caramel will not stick as badly to the parchment paper as to foil.

  21. Hey guys, a quick question... Even though it is not clearance related, I have only recently learned about stacking manufacturers coupons (both newspaper insert or printables) along with Target printable coupons from their website. This, along with Target returning to price matching, has made Target a major stop in my grocery runs; if only I had a Super Target with a full grocery in the area! Anyway, is the information about stacking coupons worthy to add to the first post of this thread? I could see the information making a clearance deal even better, should one happen to have both a manufacturers coupon and a Target coupon handy for a clearance find, such as the current coupons for Energizer batteries, should they go clearance after the holidays...

  23. Precisely, that is what I was trying to explain myself. Now, I am wondering about the refer a friend MIR, which doesn't mention the "not valid with other offers." I had the newspaper one, so I didn't send for that one. Now I did, and it says valid on purchases dated after the date of the email *sigh* ...can't win for losing.
  24. Try Coupon Beat clipping service. She is charging 20 cents each for the $10 rebate coupon and the $10 manufacturers coupon, and her least expensive shipping option is 50 cents for an order. I have used her service in the past, and have been very satisfied with her service. The link should take you directly to the page with the MIR and coupon listed. They are about midway down the page. If the link doesn't work, they are currently listed on page 2 of the Smartsource insert listings for 11/21.
  25. My receipt shows: So, both are listed on the receipt, but the Target web coupon caused it to show as ringing up at $27.99, even though it then lists $10.00 was taken off of $37.99. I paid $17.99 + tax at the register, so the $20 definitely came off. Clear as mud? The shelf tag at my Target had a different model number for the Essence model than what the boxes had on them. Where the shelf tag was, the shelf was empty. We think it was for model HX5300. But the model we wound up buying, Essence model HX5351/46, also scanned at $37.99.
