With GottaDeal.com on them as well, of course! From what I've seen, that's a popular sub-forum year-round...

  4. I really recommend the Fatfree Vegan site then. There really are some awesome recipes there. I agree about stuffing squash as an elegant entree for vegans/vegetarians, rather than going with meat substitutes. This is my traditional offering for vegans/vegetarians at festive gatherings. I cut the individual servings in half again to offer as a side dish to those who would like a taste but won't be eating it as their entree. But as an entree, half a stuffed squash is a gorgeous offering for vegans and vegetarians. This recipe is made with butter for lacto-vegetarians, or with extra-light olive oil for vegans. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l204/GatorPam/th_acornsquash.jpg Acorn Squash with Apple Stuffing • 2 acorn squash • 2 TBS melted butter or extra light olive oil • Salt • Cinnamon • 1/4 cup raisins • 1/4 cup sweet wine or concord grape juice • 3 apples • 4 TBS butter or extra light olive oil • 1/4 cup brown sugar • 1 TBS lemon juice Preheat oven to 350° F Halve the squashes and scoop out seeds and stringy interiors. Brush cut surfaces with melted butter or oil and sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. Wrap each half in aluminum foil, cut side flat on sheet with seam crimped over outer skin and place in baking dish. Bake squash 30 to 45 minutes, until barely tender. While squash is baking, soak raisins in wine or juice to plump. Chop apples into 1/2" Cubes, peeled or unpeeled. In small frying pan melt butter or heat oil and add apples. Cook 3-5 minutes, until slightly wilted. Stir in sugar and lemon juice. When squash are just tender, unwrap and place cut side up back in backing dish. Drain the raisins, and add to the apple mixture. Then fill squash cavities. Cover and bake 20-30 minutes more or until tender. Note: For a little crunch, add chopped nut of choice at the same time you add the macerated raisins.
  5. I would love to attend and am available nearly anytime. However... When we upgraded to DSL from dial-up a couple of years ago, we went with the slowest version of DSL AT&T has, what they call "DSL Lite." I don't know the upload/download speeds offhand, but I do know I can't just stream things like youtube videos; I have to let them fully load before I can watch them smoothly. Will this affect my ability to watch the webcast and participate in the chat without frustration?
  6. Jen, to go strictly vegan, even for diabetic reasons, is pretty severe. Are you certain she isn't eating any animal products of any sort? No dairy or honey even? If I know for certain what limitations she is following, I am pretty certain I have decent holiday recipes I can suggest that everyone can enjoy. In the meantime, if she is following a strictly vegan diet, check out Fatfree Vegan Recipes. Not all the recipes are strictly fatfree, but they are all strictly vegan, and most are absolute keepers!
  7. That's my Passover Matzah Caramel Crunch with saltines instead of matzah! I change it up by adding the nuts while the caramel simmers so they get coated with the sauce and glazed on while baking and I melt some kosher for passover white chocolate which I put in a piping bag to drizzle over the melted darker chocolate. Wonderful and easy recipe to include on cookie trays! I can't go to either Passover seder I attend yearly without it.
  8. I was thinking of the two cranberry fluff recipes above. I usually don't care for additional fruit added, but was eating a pomegranate today and decided pomegranate seeds might be a really nice mix-in to the version I make. Does anyone know if pomegranates will still be in season around Thanksgiving? The one I had today was awesome. Sweet and loaded with seeds.
  9. *nodding* I make similar, it's one of the three styles of cranberry sauce we put on our table. I prefer using the cooked sweetened whole berries rather than the raw ones, though. Cranberry Fluff 1 (8 oz) carton sour cream 1 (3 oz ) pkg. cranberry jello (not prepared) 1 ( 6 oz. ) can crushed pineapple, drained 1 (14 oz.) can whole berry cranberry sauce 1/3 cup flaked coconut 1 small (8 oz.) carton whipped topping Combine sour cream and Jello. Strain pineapple. Add to sour cream and Jello along with the cranberry sauce and coconut. Add whipped topping. Fold gently yet thoroughly. Refrigerate at least 24 hours before serving.
  10. One of my favorite desserts, originally from Pampered Chef. So festive, yet deceptively easy to make! Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle 1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix 1 3/4 cups cold milk 2 (3.3 ounce) packages instant white chocolate pudding mix 4 tsp instant espresso granules 2 TBS warm water 2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed 3 (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate covered toffee bars, chopped Prepare brownies according to package directions. Bake and cool completely. Cut into 1 inch cubes. In a medium bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix until mixture begins to thicken. Dissolve coffee granules in water and stir into pudding mixture. Fold in whipped topping. In a glass serving bowl, layer one-third of brownie cubes, one-third of pudding mixture and one-third of candy. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Chill 30 minutes in refrigerator before serving. Pam's Notes: To make this even easier, start with store-bought dense brownies and the Heath baking bits available in most groceries. To make more personal, make home made whipped cream the night before and place in to a cheesecloth lined colander over a bowl. Allow to drip over night, then use that in place of the whipped topping. For final decoration, put some whipped cream/topping into a piping bag and decorate the top, then add some chocolate shavings.   14. I love the dome GF grill I have. I got mine when I lived in UF's married student housing and open flame grills, charcoal or gas, were prohibited. If you put some soaked wood chips into foil, make a packet, poke holes in it, and then use the dome to cover and trap what smoke is generated while "grilling" the food, you can at least get a smoke flavor. And the grids are not bad. It tastes just like the indoor GF grills. If you are not a fan of them, you won't be a fan of this.

  16. That's the one I have that is getting threadbare. I love it! I've always felt it shouldn't be saved for just BF. Even during my hiatus from GottaDeal, I felt those not in the know needed to learn about the forum. That shirt was, and still is despite its threadbare state, my Target perimeter perusing shirt.

  21. How many of you leave your tree up through Epiphany/Little Chr-stmas/Three Kings Day on January 6th? Being Jewish, I have observed that many Roman Catholics who observe that tradition will decorate the week before Chr-stmas, not turning on any lights until Chr-stmas Eve. Whereas those who decorate early tend to have their decorations down right after New Years, if not before. Where do you fit it?

Well guys, I didn't get a lot of response, and the issue of whether to truncate how long the clearance list covers was not addressed by anyone, but the request to have the listing reversed on perimeterperusing.com is unanimous by those who did respond so far. I'll continue to take PMs with input regarding this until tomorrow, and will then broach the subject with Brad. Again, I have no idea if the list can even be reversed, but I will ask and find out, if that is what the majority wants and lets me know by tomorrow.
  23. My Walmart won't even price match bananas from another store during the year. Save-a-lot, which is two miles away, had three pounds of bananas for $1.00 which I tried to price match at Walmart, whose bananas were 49 cents a pound. I had the ad, and they refused. No way will I try to price match at that Walmart on BF.
  24. Slightly off topic... I was looking at the listings on perimeterperusing.com and was wondering if y'all had a preference for how long the list lasted or if you would prefer the listings to go from newest to oldest, instead of oldest to newest. I do not know if either can be customized but was thinking if a shorter time frame for the list and a reverse listing style is preferred, I could bring it to Brad's attention. Let's not clutter up the thread with replies, but feel free to PM me with your preferences. I'll tally responses through the weekend and will make a post on Monday on whether a change is wanted. Thanks for considering!
