  1. So, if I was still in my own kitchen in Gator Town, my Thanksgivukkah menu would have to include the following: Deep fried turkey (to commemorate the miracle of the oil) sweet potato latkes with cranberry apple sauce pumpkin pie filling filled doughnuts ...however, since I am still not in my own place out west, I will supplement the menu of my hosts the best that I am able.
  2. I used cartwheel for the first time today. I basically saved 10% off my total transaction price, with some things getting 20% off and some as low as 5% off. But it was a nice additional $8.00 saved I wouldn't have saved otherwise.
  3. Same as last year: for Beorn to come out for a visit. Since he did last year though, it probably won't happen this year. I guess materially the only thing I would like that I wouldn't buy for myself would be a tablet. I don't really need a smart phone, and I feel the screen would be too small for what I would use a smart phone for, such as things a tablet can do. That's about it.
  4. So I figured places like Hallmark would be all over this with gift wrap and greeting cards, but no. I have found a few e-cards, and zazzle has one style of Thanksgivukkah wrapping paper. But I'll not be suckered in to paying $18.00/roll! I'm thinking I'll look for some Thanksgiving paper and then stamp a few dreidels on it or some such...
  5. About 18 months ago. See the Update on Me thread for more info...
  6. If my new gottadeal shirt arrives safely this year, I'll wear that. Otherwise I'll wear my older, nearly threadbare gottadeal shirt.
  7. I can't imagine a just moved out child, no matter what the age, not arranging to spend the holidays with their parents. Did he celebrate other holidays with you since he moved? Independence Day, or any other? Unless he is seeing someone, and chooses to spend the holidays with their family. Surely any friends he would hang out with will be with their own families over the holidays...
  8. Do we still need admin input to upload an animated avatar? If not, I may change mine out, but if so, I'll stay as is so I don't have to keep bothering Brad when I decide to change it back. Ohh... Looks like mine isn't animated anymore.
  9. I moved away from Florida eighteen months ago, but at least until then Publix put out holiday commercials every year. I'm uncertain if this is the first one, but it is the first I clearly remember. I think it came out around 2001 or so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33kp7YTdQi0 The song is called Last Train Home, by The Pat Metheny Group. Not really rock nor pop; more a jazz feel. And I'm positive PMG did not mean it to be a holiday themed song. But because of the commercial, it is not the holidays for me until I hear this song somewhere. As old as it is, I think Publix still airs it on occasion throughout the holidays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g6nPYyIS_I

  15. Thanks Andrea. That post really should be updated, but I haven't been able to perimeter peruse in several years and a lot has changed since I wrote it. I don't feel qualified to take it on.
  16. I'll admit Facebook has spoiled me. I am so glad there is a "Like" button on the forum now. Thanks!
  17. Regarding custom avatars: Will we be able to upload animated avatars ourselves? Or will we still need to go through you if we wish to rotate through various seasonal animated avatars?
  18. Thanks! Half off everything in store at my local DQ on Saturday.
  19. I'm new to Rite Aid clearance, and miss CVS clearance. Does Rite Aid clearance small appliances and such along with seasonal merchandise during their winter season clearance? If so, what sort of items will I find, if any are still left?
