The 2015 Black Friday Product Charts (What Did You Think?)
Bopeep replied to stationchief's topic in 2015
Are the 2014 charts hiding somewhere? The current charts are showing 2015, and the link for the 2014 charts gives me a blank page. Might be a problem on my end? -
I have 5 (I think) t-shirts, and a pink hoodie from last year.

I wouldn't say I get nervous. I do get butterflies and my anxiety increases, but for me it's thrill and excitement. Now, sometimes if there's something I really really hope to get, I might get nervous leading up to the event, but it's not very often anymore (since my kids are grown) that I'm shopping for MUST HAVEs.
-
My kids almost always get a t-shirt for their team of choice (OU/OSU - I have a divided family). Fanatics had a great sale (found here on GD!) a month or so ago, so those are taken care of.

More and more online, but we will definitely be in the stores also. For one thing, I am hanging on to our Black Friday traditions by the skin of my teeth. They will not take BF away from me! lol But also, there are always item on our lists that aren't available online.

That's my biggest problem with the Thursday evening sales vs. Friday morning. It's a whole different class of people.

I guess the best, in recent years, was 2 years ago. I got my daughter (in law) an iPad. I didn't see much reaction, but her mom told me later that she texted her and said "OMG, Tami got me an iPad! I guess she really does love me!". (In my defense, I really do love her and I really do show it without spending tons of money on her. She was just a little insecure for a while there). And the worst, I guess, was about 7 years ago. My youngest was 13 and one of the things on his list was a metal detector (don't ask me why). So, not knowing anything about them, I found one on BF for like $20 and I got it. He never even took it out of the box, to my knowledge. When I asked him about it several weeks later he said "Mom, that's a toy, it wouldn't find much". LOL, oops, my bad. He did get plenty that year that he WAS excited about, and he never would have complained about the metal detector if I hadn't asked.

Walmart is always a must. One or the other of us always has something on our list from Walmart. Then it's Target, Gordman's, Academy, and Atwoods (I think Atwoods is just a local store, but it's kind of like Tractor Supply). We might hit many other stores, depending on the ads, but those are our go to's every year.

I googled the first one, so I won't answer here - let someone that actually knew the answer take the credit Question 2 is "The Bishop's Wife", I believe.

I keep track of what I spend on Christmas every year. A few years ago I started tracking what I SAVED as well as what I spent. Last year, I saved well over $1000 on Christmas just for my kids, just by following Gottadeal year round.

Sure, If something I want is on sale, and I can afford it, I'll pick it up. I just have to make sure I'm not spending my Christmas budget on something for myself . This year, I have a list of a few things I'm looking for, for myself/my house. For instance, if the sale is good enough I plan to get myself an Amazon Echo. I also plan on getting myself a few of the 2 qt slow cookers for $5 at Walmart if they have them again this year (I'm hoping to use them for melting chocolate and caramel to make Christmas candy). OH! And if Home Depot has the same tree on sale as last year (or one similar for the same price) I plan to grab one of those too. That was my BF regret last year, not getting one of those trees when I had the chance .

Like a lot of you, I don't usually encounter rudeness on Black Friday. Most of us try to be helpful and polite. One year my sister and I went to Penney's for a knock off ipod my cousin wanted us to pick up. That is not a store we ever hit on BF, and everyone in there was SO rude! It just broke my heart. I felt like a little kid whose puppy had been kicked. That was not MY Black Friday. lol We've never gone back to Penney's on BF again. If the cousins want something from there they can fit it in to their own shopping schedule!

The last couple years, Walmart and Target have both had (what I consider) good deals on the iPad mini, by giving store gift cards (last year the price at WM was $199, and the gift card was $30). That won't get you quite to the price point you want, but then you could a kid-proof case and it might be worth the $$. This one gets good reviews on Amazon and is less than $20: http://www.amazon.com/VAKOO%C2%AE-Shockproof-Silicone-Portable-Display/product-reviews/B00SO5JQ4Y/ref=dpx_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1. If that is too "little kid" looking for his taste, there are a lot of cases out there geared toward keeping the device safe in the hands of children so you could probably find something he'd be ok with.

Well, since that didn't happen (darn it), I'm sticking with my original guess of HF on 10/13.
-
That is correct. However, there are programs you can download that will strip the music from iTunes and save it to your computer, then you can use it on other devices. I'm not sure if they will also strip apps, but I kind of doubt it.

One of my favorite contests!! OK, 1. There's a tent sale going on at Best Buy! Wait, what? When did Best Buy start selling tents? 2. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is SO yesterday! The Black Friday Target Parade of flat screens is where it's really at. 3. I just love these 89er days at the mall! (OK, you might have to be an Okie to get that one).

The Kindle's are eReaders. The Kindle Fire is a tablet. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TSUGXKE/ref=nav_shopall_ods_tab_ford

I just want to jump in here and say I am enjoying reading all of these! I'm in awe of all of you. My cousins are constantly quoting movies, and I'm like "Yeah, I saw it. No, I didn't memorize it". LOL
-
This year, I was really craving it in July! lol. But usually, I start getting really excited and ready for it when it gets close to the 100 day mark.

You could also consider the new $50 Kindle. It's a 7 inch screen. It's 8gb, but you can add a micro sd card up to 128gb. It's not HD, but I had one and the screen looked decent to me. I sent mine back because I couldn't download my Amazon music to the card, so there wasn't enough memory for me. But if he mostly will be watching YouTube and Netflix, it's half the price. Also, a lot of people say you can't download all apps to a Kindle, but I've never found an app I couldn't get to. You may have to download an app called MobileMarket1 (or something like that - I can't remember), but most Google apps can be found there. I don't know anything about Galaxy either. My son has a Nexus (same thing? No?) and he likes it. But this is another option for you.
-
Both of my boys went with me exactly once. LOL. Both said "Never again!". But now I have a daughter in law! And she goes with us (me and my sister) every year.
-
I'm really hoping they go on sale. I plan to get one for my grandbabies' room, and another as a gift for my son. I love having the one in my living room.
-
I usually do mostly candy in the stockings. When my boys were little, the stockings were filled with candy (Nerds, Gobstoppers, that kind of stuff - the oldest didn't like chocolate), and there was a small stuffed animal on top. As they got older it was just the candy. Now, I don't do as much candy, because I was finding that I could fill Easter eggs with the leftovers. They get one box of their favorite candy, and usually a gift card. The grands get candy candy candy, and whatever else Grama wants to stuff in there that their little hearts may desire . So, to answer the original question, I don't buy any of the stocking stuffers on BF. In fact, it's usually the last thing I buy.

The seal has been broken! We'll take it. LOL
