  1. There is also the Dora Magical Castle.. it is 39.99 at TRU, but they have been running it on their % off sales. It was 50% off on BF, and it is in today's ad for 30% off, I think. Also, Amazon has some of the furniture sets for $5-$7. Also, Amazon has the loving Family dollhouse, (African American version) for 15.99, reg. $39.99.
  2. I got my SS gift today. It was perfect! It is a game called Chocolat-opoly. I think saying the name is as much fun as the game will be. It looks so yummy! Thank you!!!
  3. I want to pre-apologize. I was a little late getting on the ball with this, which turned out good and bad. Eve had a change-up for me at last minute, and I'm now searching for that perfect something. But, we are iced in right now, probably to lose power for a few days, so as soon as I can get out, I'll ship what I have. I refuse to send out my cards until 2 weeks before Christmas, so those will get out with the others. Also, I received my ornament, but not my SS, in case anyone is wondering. Oh, SherriL, I just wanted you to know that DS8 is now hellbent on leaving Santa a chili dog! It's pretty hard to say no to that, so instead of making cookies, we're going to stir up some chili.
  4. I got my ornament yesterday in true gottadeal style. It is so cute! It's a teddy bear loaded down with packages, and it says "Deck the malls with all my money". DH said that it should have been him to get that for me! Thank you!!!! (I can't post pics with my dial up, it would take hours)
  5. Ahh.. I see. I was taking the difference off of Amazon's price, not Zappo's.. Whoops!! No wonder I was getting so excited! Thank you.
  6. okay, i'm confused. the pair at amazon is 39.99, zappos is 68.95. I just called, and they were going to be $42. If my calculations are correct, they should be 11.04. What am I doing wrong?
  7. It is extremely difficult to get SDC tickets discounted. You should have come down last weekend when Good Morning America was there! I don't think you'll get any discounts online, you may be better off to stop at some of the tickets places. If you are looking for other tickets, one of the radio stations offers discount tickets in the beginning of the year, and they are really clearancing them out towards the end, because of expiry dates. The website is www.regionalradio.com, click the KJEL link. But, it's about an hour on the other side of Branson, if you were to pick them up.
  8. Ours is usually near the soda, or between the refridgerated and dry goods, down that long aisle. It is also with the beef jerkey, pringles, and nuts. HTH! That's my favorite kind!
  9. Walmart has the 3 lb roll for 4.98 during the Holidays. That's probably the best price you'll find anywhere.
  10. Our Walmarts have stacks and stacks of them. I didn't realize they were so hard to get. Are certain formats harder to get? NM, I just saw HeatherKW's post.
  11. I am going to search this weekend. I think my 2 are a little challenging. I have looked through PP's, and the list Eve sent us, and I have ornaments that are perfect for SS, and I have a SS gift that is perfect for my ornament person. So, I've gotta get creative and figure out how to switch them!
  12. I purchased this last week at 39.99. I used a F/S code. It is on backorder until the 8th. Can I cancel and rebuy? I wonder if the F/S code is still valid. That's strange to mark it down further when it's already backordered.
  13. Maxi-Lock Cone Threads are long lasting and high strength making Maxi-Lock one of the top serging and regular sewing machine threads. Able to withstand the high speeds and tension that accompany sewing this 100% polyester thread is sure to meet all of your sewing needs. I believe it is, that's not a bad price, and very good quality. Do you know what, in particular, this person typically sews?
  14. I am overwhelmed by your responses!!! I am so excited, even if I have encouraged one person to help, I have accomplished more than I ever have dreamed of. We were able to adopt another woman at work today. The nursing home called with a new patient that hasn't been adopted. She would like a jogging suit and a teddy bear. I am going to write to the newspapers over the weekend. It takes so little to give so much. Another idea, for Mary, my lady that lives at home. My parents have offered to purchase laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. Necessities are always welcomed, and much appreciated. Thanks again guys, and I hope you are getting as much joy out of this season as my family is. It feels so wonderful touch someone in this way.
  15. Dear Dr. Santa, I know, I know, most people don’t classify us as doctors. To them, we are mere scientists. I sometimes feel like Ross, from the hit show Friends. Boy, is he HOT!!! If I ever get my beaker near him, I will rip off my lab coat and scream molecular equations at the top of my underdeveloped lungs. That is my #1 wish for Christmas. I must set my human urges aside and concentrate on my work. I am limited on time. If you’ve been paying attention, you will have noticed that I have hit a rough spell this year. Mother and Daddy have moved to a retirement home in Florida, forgetting that I was still in the basement. They have left no forwarding number. The realtor drops by at least 3 times a week to show the house. I hide in the cage I have built behind the furnace. This cage can get dangerous! I have been trying to recreate a Tyrannosaurus rex, and many mutant species are housed in the cage as a result. Maybe we should team together on this venture. I seem to recall wishing for a live dinosaur for Christmas as a child. At the time, I couldn’t fathom why you would bring me a Tonka truck instead. Don’t worry, I have come to realize that you were just naïve and didn’t possess the technology capable of creating such a creature. Dr., I have just a few wishes on my list. I would love to team up with you and provide the ultimate Christmas adventures for children. Oh, if only someday you would take me with you. I have nowhere to go. Mother has tried to send me to a new home before. I thought the men in white coats were fellow scientists, but when I got to the undisclosed location, I was the lab rat, not the experimentor. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to depress you. My little heart, and I do mean little, desires the Logitech io2 Digital Writing System. If I get this, I may be able to put the finishing touches on my dinosaur project. Can you imagine what will happen if I am unable to program his brain? I have done so much research, but I have to enter hand-written commands. I would also like to write Ross a letter.. Maybe, just maybe, if he sees that I am a tech savvy girl, my chances will increase. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you ever do decide that you need help perfecting your toy machines or, and God forbid, if Rudolph ever passes, remember, I can create an indestructible, synthetic, reindeer race. Alicia P.S. If the realtor is here when you drop off my package, can you please drop it in the dryer vent? I have tunneled it to reach directly in the cage. Please do not wrap the package after eating, or the animals may sense the smell and devour the package.
  16. Kandy, I don't see free shipping on shoes. Is it over? I bought a couple of pairs the other day when it was F/S w/ shoe purchase. Is this still offer good, or is it only on $75?
  17. I understand what you mean. I try not to be petty, especially now, but I can't help but wonder sometimes. The family we ended up with puzzles me. We were supposed to have a man and wife with 5 children. They had a car accident and were unable to work. They switched it at last minute, and we now have a single mom with 5 kids. They are 5, 4,3,2, and 1 month. She asked for clothing and kitchen utensils for herself, and she wears a 7/8. Wow! is all I can say. 5 kids, one of whom is a month old, and she's a 7? I don't care at all to give to these children, but those look like preventable circumstances. I know there may be more to her story, but it really saddens me that there's a good chance there isn't. I would like to add this link that was on our local news last night. I highly recommend watching the video to see how some people are scamming our local charities. I cannot believe what lenghths people will go to. http://www.ky3.com/news/local/11898566.html
  18. I was able to adopt a lady today! I am so excited! The nursing home called today to ask if I would take her. She isn't a patient, she lives at home. Her husband has passed away recently, and she will be spending the holidays alone. She has asked for some tennis shoes, a blanket, and groceries. They also asked if we could deliver to her. Typically donors aren't allowed to take the items to the person, but she is at home and very lonely, and would like the company. We will also be taking her laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Can you guys think of anything else that would be good to send? I am involving everyone I know to make her Christmas special. Also, I am looking for a great deal on size 10 shoes.
  19. I am so glad this has hit you guys the same way it has hit me. I despise nursing homes, but we will be going on Christmas, armed with goodies. Another idea I had was to send christmas candies and cookies. I am going to stock up on little things on clearance year round. Do you guys have any different ideas of things to send? http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006311300001&template=theme&theme=SHARE_CHRISTMAS let me know if this link doesn't work~ thanks so much guys!!!
  20. Someone mentioned in another post that they visit nursing homes on the Holidays. This really got me to thinking about the elderly that do not have any family to bring gifts or spend the holidays with. At our office, we sponsor several Christmas families. Each day in our paper (around 250,000 readers), they detail 3 cases of needy families. 2 in the past 3 days have really caught my eye. Yesterday: A married man and woman are in the same nursing home. He would like some socks and slippers, and a new book. She would like some stationery, stamps, a new ink pen, and some fingernail polish. Today: A 64 year old man has suffered a serious illness. He used to own a chain restaurant and was forced to liquidate his home and all assets to pay his medical bills. He is now a medicare patient and confined to the nursing hom. His necessities included pajama pants, a robe, and a t-shirt. His wish list was: underwear, Pringles, diet soda, and sugar free candy. It seems to me that the people that would most appreciative are most often forgotten. If we, as bargain shoppers, were to pick up pads of paper and trinkets and Michael's or Target's 75% off $ Spot clearances, we could outfit an entire home for less than $7.00. Yes, several people do have families that spoil them rotten, but many don't. Today, we have put in calls to all of the local homes to see if anyone has been left un-adopted. If they have, we are sponsoring them in full. If not, I still plan to make up a box full of trinkets and junk food and drop it off. I cannot imagine my only wish being paper and stamps to write to the people that haven't even sent me a bottle of fingernail polish. --Stepping d o w n off of soapbox now-- Please, consider checking into this in your neighborhood. It would take so little to make so many Christmases bright.
  21. bump! I am looking for one also.. a good quality, 8-10 inch, single or dual screen. Anyone know of anything out there? It seems that these are much higher regular price than they were last year.
  22. anything Detroit Lions? I'd love ya forever!!
  23. I use a different method. My kids want everything and play with nothing. Each day, they cannot remember what was asked for the previous. So, I buy what I know they will play with, what is safe, and what we have room for. Then I spend all of December talking about it, and making them think that's what they want. Then, they get more excited and actually do play with it, rather than some spur of the moment thought.
  24. There is an item at JCp Penney's that I would like. It is on backorder until 12/8/07. How is their shipping? I need to purchase it today to take advantage of the FS code. Also, are they like most companies, that will not charge until it is shipped? I would hate to pay for it and have to fight to get my $$ back if it is cancelled. TIA!!!
  25. I'll bet there was more of a rush on Wal-Mart to get all of those red tents than there was when BB opened the doors!
