The asst manager of my local Kmart comes into the store I work so I am working on getting some info (I did however, finagle a invite to the friends and family day )

Mine was 3 years ago at Targets. I wanted a scooter for my husband's niece, I got there the associate gave me the wrong one, when I went back to get the right one they had no more and the jerk manager wouldn't comprimise since it was an error on his associate. That was the last time I visited that particular store on BF

Now that we know what will be going on sale at Walmarts, does anyone put the items on layaway before and then go back and pick them up on BF and get the price difference? The reason is I saw the light sabres that will be marked down and they are really cool $20 ones. My son wants a Darth Vader one and I would hate to have to "take what I can get" rather than what I want. The layaway people said it was no problem, but how much of a hassle is it do you think? or know. Any and all input is appreciated. Vicki

I go out for a late breakfast, go home change my clothes and start putting up the tree. This year though I am really psyched because I just got my new ebay purchase of a 7 1/2 foot pre-lit Christmas tree for $50 with shipping.

I really have no choice. Chances of not having snow on Christmas are slim to none in parts of NY west of Syracuse

About the price of gas and what looks to be a weak holiday season coming. Judging from this piece of the article (I can't give you the link cause if you don't have aol they wont let you read it) we might have an interesting Black Friday toy hunt! "Toy retailers, preparing for a difficult season, plan big discounts and other promotions. "It's going to be extremely competitive to draw customers to their stores," said Jim Silver, editor-in-chief of Toy Wishes, a trade publication. Price wars are already under way. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. began by slashing prices up to 30 percent on toys including the latest version of Hasbro Inc.'s electronic pet Furby, and Fisher-Price's "Shout" Dancing Elmo. Toys R Us Inc. responded by lowering its prices. Wal-Mart, hurt last year when it didn't offer enough discounts, is expected to mark down more aggressively this year. Toys R Us, meanwhile, is offering more exclusive toys than it did last year, and other retailers are also ready for a battle to get customers into the store. "We will absolutely be competitive with Wal-Mart this holiday season," said Lena Michaud, a spokeswoman at Target Corp., who declined to elaborate further."

I am a legend at the Radio SHack near me. Two years ago I had just left EWalmarts - it must have been 6am and as I was driving by, I noticed that Radio Shack's lights were on and a man was outside - so I parked and went in - got a basket and filled it completely up (the man had walked away for a second) he came back and told me the store wasnt open until 7am. I commented the door was open and the lights were on and you saw me enter. If you won't let me pay for the stuff I will just wait with my basket until you are ready. Well that nice man had forgotten to lock the door when he came in, and people saw us talking so by 6:15 he had about 25 people in the store (that wasnt supposed to open for 45 more minutes picking out their stuff) Needless to say he let me (and everyone else) buy the stuff - and hasnt forgotten me either LOL

you gotta really know your stuff to get the best stuff at the outlets. Take The Gap for instance - the outlets stores sell seconds at a higher price than the clearance rack in the regular stores. No bargain there!

My biggest is when the sign says limit one per household and people try to cheat. As for people getting pushy - heck that is part of the fun. I find bf to be more like a sport than a shopping experience

Never. I wear my fanny pack under my sweatshirts and carry only the necessary items - drivers licence, cc, cash

I left for South Carolina (in fact I am there now) Friday afternoon and we stopped in a 24 hr Walmart in PA and at 10pm they still had alot of stuff at the am prices! I bought a portable DVD player and about 5 of the $3.88 DVDs!
-
I had a good day too. Got to Walmart for the leappad, piano toy, food processor and sandwich maker. Didnt like the portable dvd player and the 3.88 dvd selection was really limited. In and out in 14 minutes and off to Radio Shack where my main purchases were. I got the 4 2 way radios, the $39 prepaid cell phone, $29 cd stereo, and a few $5 door busters, and the mp3 player (less than 15 minutes there) Then off to the mall for the dept stores. Finished by 10:29am

that was funny

I am looking at snow and temps in the high 20's. Good news is that it will probably keep the sissys away for a few hours

Does anyone have any info on Michael's? They are usually good for a few BF bargains on outdoor Christmas decorations.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I am just glad that I get one store where someone isnt hitting me up for money. Don't get me wrong - I donate - but I shouldn't have to every single time I go shopping.

How early do you go to get the Thanksgiving Day paper?
BFQueenofNY replied to MarkRaby's topic in 2004
The night before Thanksgiving I have to work until 3:00am at the grocery store so since they get the inserts earlier than the paper - I will buy the inserts before I leave (I do that ever Sunday too) since I have no interest in reading the paper portion.
