  1. By Brad: We already have a thread for kissing my ass. Go here: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=87043 Thread closed End Quote. :sidesplit
  2. Just looking at the specs, 24" buy OM, 22" buy CC. As I said just looking at that spec/price layout by senpai.
  3. Price for price, AMD x2's are better in performance than Intel Duo's. So if you pay for a $100 processor, the AMD will outperform the intel. That being said, right now Intel has high end (and expensive) processors that AMD has no competitor to and they are the best performing, but should be for how expensive they are. For further info, check out http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=922&model2=881&chart=444 processors near the top of the page are best bang for buck, bottom of page are least bang for buck.
  4. For that list, you will be okay, but might want to THINK about adding to the memory to get it up to 2gb that Vista Home Premium "wants". it is really cheap to do that right now if you find it on a deal. you will only need to add 1 gb, but to give you an idea, right now there is a posting on online deals for this http://www.clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A4308301&CMP=BAC-160x65 which is $30 for 2gb after shipping. Of course you will likely need programs for the different tasks you want to do.
  5. The good news for you is that you basically would have to look to try to find a laptop w/out a wifi card in it nowadays. Will let you know what I can find when I can find it.
  6. From most systems I have seen at a good price (say an HP m8200n for $659 at compusa a week or 2 ago) you have to ad in your own video card. with the new 8800gt out now, I would recomend it as well. There are other deals, but this is the best bang for buck I have seen lately.
  7. What are your needs (besides budget)? school computer for research? myspace computer? work type stuff? play games? movies? edit pictures? Let us know more so we can give better answers.
  8. Yup, up too late, right as always, screw officemax and target and walmart...Long night but someone has to do it
  9. It is 1.6 ghz celeron based on the "core" technology. equal to a 3.0 or 3.2 ghz Pentium 4. With 3.0 ghz dual cores of the new variety and this being a 1.6ghz single core, it is the slowest thing you will find being sold as "new" anywhere. It really is 1.6ghz, just it has much better instructions, layout, etc than the old p4.s See my prior post. It does run at only 1.6ghz. I just happens to work just as well as a intel pentium 4 at 3.0 to 3.2 ghz. Dont let the ghz fool you. Look at more than that. That said, a Amd X2 at 3.0 ghz dual core is going to make it look like a calculator, same with the Core Duo's.
  10. Ram slots in laptops come in 2 flavors: 2 slots (most common) and 4 slots (less common), if this one comes with 2 slots, most likely it has 2x512mb ram sticks that will be nice paperweights after you replace them with 2 x1Gb sticks, If you are lucky and it has 4 slots, then you will have 3 gb altogether, but this is unlikely.
  11. one nation under savings :2dollar:
  12. That would be awesome. Poll at the end, betting on the side. I would love that.
  13. My too slow was for Vista, this would be an okay kids machine with XP maybe, but Vista needs a lot that this PC cant give it.
  14. No cut meant to marcster, but gurnee you obviously have not seen a brad smiley-a-thon where he comes up with the smileys to match requests. I have long since stopped trying to expect what I would see next (especially after some of the smileys he pulled out of his @$ in the adult section).
  15. Doesn't matter, with the types of mark up Dell has been having on their underpowered PC's, you will get much better mileage with some of the other manufacturers. IMHO see HP m8200n at $659 from Compusa a week or 3 ago, and I dont see dell dropping any of their 531 series to anywhere near that price with anywhere near as much power as that. If you want underpowered and cheap, just get BB $199 pc.
  16. if you can read that then that should be the case, my work laptop and ailing eyes cant read that small type at all.
  17. I was hoping for a high powered desktop for a mid-price. I did not expect to find an AMD 6000+ dual core for $399, but I was thinking say $550?? seeing as how Compusa had one for $659 a while back... I am let down. Maybe OD or Staples will have something better than CC or BB. Yeah you can get a $199 computer, but except for the 17" flat panel, that pc is cheap old stock that I cant believe they put vista home premium on.
  18. Yes it is 1.6ghz. the problem is that intel has too many people thinking that ghz is everything. This 1.6 is on equal footing as an old 3.0 ghz Pentium 4, but it is super slow compared to the much newer X2 series dual core AMD's or the core 2's from Intel. It is about the same as a 365 that you listed earlier, about. It is still too slow for Vista.
  19. The sun is for Doorbusters, many but not all of which will be ticketed. Very unlikely that the un-suned ones will be ticketed but the sun does not mean that it will need one, just very likely.
  20. http://www.superwarehouse.com/Intel_Celeron_M_420,_1.6_GHz_Processor/BX80538420/p/1486914 1.6 GHZ, SUPERSLOW. stay away from celeron, sempron and centrino.
  21. Can we say TomTom One??
