ok. i'm getting antsy. is it november 1st yet? i've gotten some little things for my secret santa friend, but i'm itching to find out who i'm shopping for so i can get more specific items!

i tried calling again, but i'm in a different time zone and i guess the folks in the mgmt office have already gone home for the day... so i tried calling the disney store instead at that mall. they told me that they are tentatively scheduled to open at 3am, but that the major anchors have not decided what time to open yet. the mall will probably open it's doors between 3&4, but there's no guarantee that any stores will be open at those hours. i'll keep posting back when i get more info.

I don't know of anyone out here that does the Angel Trees/Holiday Angels. Right now I'm building a box for the Phoenix Food Bank where you fill it with everything you'd need for a Thanksgiving meal - except for the turkey and anything that can spoil. For example, mine has instant potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, cranberry jelly, boxed stuffing, pie crust mixes, canned pie stuffing, etc etc. I also included a nice table cloth, napkins, placemats, some nice (plastic) plates, plastic cups & goblets, and made a centerpiece (made a wooden turkey drilled some holes in it, and in each hole you put a lollipop stem to make the feathers). Also included a few recipes for holiday leftovers. This part is optional (as is the dishes & table stuff), but I got a $15 gift card to a grocery store that gets affixed to the top of the box to be used to purchase a turkey. Sheriff Joe and his team/posse also collects toys for children at Christmas and every year I donate to that when I can afford it. This year things are very tight for us though. I've been collecting things for my thanksgiving box over the past few months which is a good thing, if I had waited til the last minute I would not have had the funds to do that either.

Mervyn's closing all remaining stores!!
samisma replied to sigrist_2000's topic in Offline Hot Deals
but but but they JUST opened. not even a year ago. in fact, if they close that whole shopping center is going to collapse... -
thank goodness my dd has no idea who elmo is.. if only i could say the same about the rescue pets, backyardigans, and dora..

yep. they do come off easy, I think the reason for that is so that it can travel easy. It at least makes it easier for us when we go to the relatives' homes.

hmm. well going by how my dd reacted to her bday presents: http://www.blackbeltmama.com/bbmreview/images/2008/01/09/mmclubhouse.jpg Club House Toy http://as7.dsi.go.com/is/image/DisneyShopping/F1153C0003?$full$ Bath Toy http://as7.dsi.go.com/is/image/DisneyShopping/46277?$full$ Handy Manny Talking Toy Box - this one is so well loved that dd won't eat dinner unless it's on the table, cries out for "My Tools" when she wakes up and when she gets home from school, and tries to take it to bed with her. Every time she sees a catalog with a picture of it or any Handy Manny tools/characters she says really excitedly "Tools!". Also the children I teach on weekends seem to really love diego, dora, backyardigans, Wow Wow Wubbzy, and curious george is making a comeback!!! Seems like the boys and girls BOTH love the toy baby strollers in the 1-4 age range. DD's big gifts this year are the Dora Explorer Big Wheel Bike and also the Guidecraft Sunflower Kitchen (if i hit the lottery I'll get her the matching fridge). Her tiny gifts are going to be a metal pot/pan set to go with the kitchen and accessories for it too.

at my store we have a ton of christmas merchandise - enough to fill 3 aisles. as far as halloween, i can fit it all in a 2'x4' space. Thanksgiving merch is about 1/3 the size of the Christmas merch. I don't know about target and the other stores - but I know that our company is focusing more on the winter holidays and on angels (no idea on that one). on a sidenote, i don't know who i'm shopping for yet - but i've already started. I can't help myself. I'm itching to find out who I'm shopping for though!! Are we allowed to package our things in gift wrap before we put them in the box to ship?

i only know of 2 within 3 hours of me that are still open. I definately took advantage of their closing sales though.

hmm... i've a 2nd job, but i should've read your post before voting. it's not just to pay for BF, although it'll help. I just work 2 jobs because I need/have too, in addition to odd jobs too.

Normally at the Disney store everything is 20% off the whole day. HOWEVER for early birds it's normally 30% if you are there between when the DS opens and the mall opens. Once the rest of the mall opens (official building hours) then that extra discount is done and over. In addition the t-shirts are normally 3 for $ instead of 2 for $. Snow globes are usually on sale as well. That sale usually starts on Black Friday and ends 1 week later - so if you don't want to fight the BF madness at the store then you can wait and take advantage of the sale online or when the frenzy dies down. However, keep in mind - with that snow globe sale, if you go on BF you also get that nice discount of 20-30% in addition to the sale prices.

I'm excited... hopefully I can manage to snag/buy one this year!

What things are you going to bring with you while waiting in line?
samisma replied to darkwiggles's topic in 2008
A chair, portable dvd player & dvds, OJ, water, and a book. I wish I could bring a billy stick for the line cutters, but there's laws against that... Also of course my sale ads, list of items, and my plan of attack. -
What city will you be this Black Friday? -- NOW WITH MAP! Post #71
samisma replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2008
I will most likely be in Goodyear, AZ shopping at the 'new' centers. Either that or in Surprise, AZ. :) Probably at: TRU, Kohls, Walmart, and Beall's -
G'Morning everyone! Name is Jesse, currently living in Arizona. I've worked for a good chunk of the major retailers over the past decade+. Currently I'm a store manager for a local retailer (they only have stores in the sunbelt). I've one daughter, who will be 2 this month. Last year my big purchase was diapers from BRU, and I actually got in line at 2am for them. This year I'm looking for things like bikes/trikes etc. Amazing how much changes in a year. Oh, and I'm hoping Santa brings me a computer (laptop or otherwise). I enjoy doing the store hours thread, mainly because it gives me an excuse to call my old managers & friends to find out what hours they have to work.

Here you will find a comprehensive list of stores and their opening times for Black Friday, and in some cases Thanksgiving Day. This list will include Outlet shopping centers, local chains, and of course national retailers. Please pm me or post here when you find out a store's opening time. thank you! very handy. if you get an image on both sides it comes out to $8.99 - still a good price. :)

i've never bought it anywhere but online, but that's because i like the coupon codes it is really good makeup for the price. watch out if you've allergies though. i learned the hardway that i am allergic to their eyeshadow. it actually made my eyelids look like they were sunburned and they peeled etc etc. not fun.
