I didn't want to shoot the wad on just one combo. i am glad someone got this item!

Let's all admit that we are spoiled, and for those who are truly not needful of anything, just wait a couple of years until all of your toys break, and then you will be set, and your anticipation will once again be renewed like mine was, after taking a couple of years off. It always seems to be relative to what you are truly needful for. Most of us have everything we need anyway, and only budge when the deals are too good to pass up. take a close look at the pricing schemes and the quality of the items from up to five years back, and you will see that the situation is not that much different, with a few exceptions being the Secret sales. if best buy had not done that, the two years prior to last year's sales would have been a bust also.

I have the Dynex from last year when it was $100 higher and a doorbuster! It has been a great bedroom TV, the wifey loves it!
-
Yes, they definitely do!:)

Jim is not camping out, but doing drive-bys this year. Text him for updates on the line, hehehe

You may want to consider the HHGregg deal that is going on in this Sunday's paper. You get a 50 inch plasma and a bluray player for about $200 less, the specs on the tv may not be as good though.:)
-
They will probably counter with a $50 price reduction on the $299 Dynex.

One store here has given up the secrecy game and put out all of the items in the aisles. I checked the shelves for heavy stock of some of the movies and games, and sure enought they magically had plenty of those in profusion as well(in comparison to the modest stock of other games). i went to another store, and they had yet to do the same thing. Situation normal.

The guy that was on the Website last year. He looked like he was the harbinger for replacing deals with his personage. Kind of like that bank commercial where the tester lets a little girl test ride a bike, but puts her in a box, and says that the terms wouldn't allow her to go outside the box with the bike without incurring a fee. In other words, you don't get the deals, you get my stupid looks to deal with...

You are in an extremely enviable position! Two years ago, a store opened up, and i was concerned about the handling of the event, so i skipped it and went to another. I found out later, that due to the closeness of the opening to Black Friday, that few people knew of it's existence! I went there the next year and found that all of my concerns(especially the porta-Johns) were taken care of.

Do you think people will sell their tickets this year due to the economy
jaymacfla replied to lovebears65's topic in 2009
I personally have helped those in the front of the store(I call those the entitiled ones, due to their committed time of arrival) to get what they want, as well as give vouchers away whenever i feel like it, whether it be to someone down the line or to a friend or Church member. The items that i want, I buy, and then there are items I will resell. As i have stated before, i do not resell tickets, but my Family does, and i respect their right to do what they want with them. They are investing a lot of time with the tent city and cooking that we do. the wife makes hot cocoa for all who ask, and has fed many of the folks that come woefully unprepared(All free of course). It does get cold, and during the colder Black Friday's we share our fire pit. I agree that it is wrong to openly make deals during the wait, as it would create strife and possible fights among the crowd that gets edgy around the corner. I have never had a disappointed person in the front of the line, which is essentially the first 50. -

There in lies the key, "FREE". The Obama event was never to have been an event where the tickets were to be sold, or posted for sale. There has to be a monetary value assigned to the item that you are obtaining the ticket for. I am also highly skeptical of any event which has political underpinnings, and it may be a local law in Dade or broward county, due to the political strife in those areas. We were well aware of the change here in North Florida, and someone who missed out on a ticket was trying to get my wife arrested for selling a Ticket to someone just ahead of him(Yes, he was mad because someone beat him to the punch!). The Policeman told him it was perfectly legal and to move on.... -
Did you put a kerosene heater in that pop up?

I was camped out, hoping till the last minute that the secret sales would come through. I think if we see that goofy looking guy on the website again, we are doomed!

Here is some advice for you. I hear this statement all of the time, followed months later with a problem with the child's laptop. They either drop it, or get it so infested with viruses and malware, that it is rendered unusable. Most laptop problems (when related to gifting unrestricted to children)are not due to windows or installed programs malfunctioning, but LIMEWIRE. Check your child's laptop often, and get AVG and Malwarebytes anti-malware which are both free.

I totally agree! A Celeron computer is a disappointment for most, when using it for other than the most basic tasks.

It also help to include a fire extinguisher in your survival kit. Thanks for the reminder about the turkey, as my wife gets one from one of those same companies! We could share it on thursday, which is also my Birthday.

I suggest that you apply this to your own sense of morality, and stop calling people names that differ from your own perfect opinion.:yup: -
We have to wait and see if Walmart does Secret Sales this year.
-
So Walmart never caused best buy for two years in a row to come up with secret sales of their own? Nothing that Circuit city ever did with rebates caused a stir like best buy's reaction to Walmart's tactics.
-
Speaking of camping out... bought a turkey last night and plan to deep fry it in BB parking lot. Probably not something that BB would endorse though. Debating if I should clear it with the manager or just do it under the radar - but outside the tent! Last year he told me no open flames were allowed, but then again no tents are really allowed either. Worst case I put it in the oven at home and pop out to pick it up - less than 3 mile drive. Never seems to be a problem when they are not present before the event.:)
-
Last year, i mentioned the $50 giftcard given at the lakeland best Buy, and they came out with a $20 card for me, as the first in line.:)

By today's standards, this is an ancient TV. Good for a garage, but that is it. If you need one to watch Nascar or football, get a wall kit and the Husband will be all set. If you plan on getting Bluray, then anything larger than 37 inches with less than 1080P is an extreme disappointment. Go watch a Sony Bravia in Best buy, and you will see what a real picture should look like.

Sears Offers Customers Weekly Black Friday Deals - Link To Sale Posted
jaymacfla replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2009
So the idea is to completely kill the Black Friday experience by offering sales on a weekly basis to all who can get on the internet. Sounds like they intentionally do not want the overwhelming crowds in their stores, all on one day. Being generally less competitive than other stores, this might well work for them, and keep those with restricted cash reserves out of my line. Thank you Sears, sounds like a Win-Win scenario for both of us!:) -
I too saw that the lack of secret sales by best buy hurt them tremendously. The "where are all the people" questions were answered by others who drove by saying that it wasn't worth it this year, due to the lack of real incentives from previous years, and the "Why are you out here" questions were many.
