You should base that decision only after the ads disappoint you. You may find that a certain computer is just right, and shop a year earlier to get it.

Are you basing your theory upon a previous years information or observation? Sears is usually not the first place to camp.

If you lose the ads and in addition lose the data that is sometimes collected with them, you lose valuable insight to the proper perspective when it comes to pricing. I see a lot of folks here who really are convinced that in previous years that prices were better. If you look back at the items that were better deals, what were you really getting? The quality of today's items are far superior to what we then judged as a deal. If you lose the data, shame on you. Love the past and like all of history you will be doomed to repeat the same mistakes all over again. I believe that the old ad scans of the high tech items are especially useful as a tool if you know what you are looking at. The internet is a data mining heaven of information that can spec out any piece of technology with a little work.

I think that the Sansa players will continue to be hot, as long as they continue to make them with larger capacity and feature rich. With the expansion port, it was a big hit for me.

It always seems to be a mixed bag, either online is bad, or at the store. Last year, the Best Buy was so bad, it left me in such a state that I didn't rest until both managers were sent packing. That glorious news came this week. The second bad manager took a while to get uprooted, but justice prevails. the new manager will be in place in two weeks, and the corporate ethics exec will be watching this store very closely. When you commit to a plan of execution that is a year in the making, you tend to take the experience quite seriously.

Thank you for your uplifting story, which helps us to understand the true nature of the shopping spirit, which some have unfortunately lost here. It is extremely saddening that many have chosen to view online shopping as a deal breaker. I believe it is just the opposite. I can have my cake and eat it too, as I shop online while at the event. A disturbing trend which is very evident is the inability of online retailers to properly stock items, and the subsequent cancellations that result. At least 40 percent of hot items that were recently ordered (verified in stock, and debited) were canceled with excuses ranging from out of stock, improper price error, or my new favorite, "You attempted to change the shipping terms, so we canceled the order". The last one was later changed to "out of stock" when they were caught in an outright lie.

Our son was born in the same year. We had to split up BF duties when he was little. The late 90's were not the best for BF as I remember, but they picked up considerably after 2001.:) Do you remember when people were fighting over Razor scooters? It had to be 1996 or 1997.

I might have agreed with you a couple of years ago, but in light of the stories that have come out about promises of connectivity, I believe it is high time that Big Box retailers provide WI-FI during the holidays. They are missing out on under-served customers who could be comparison shopping outside as we were fortunate enough to do the last two years running. Purchases were made due to this connectivity model.:)

And please note, that it is not Best Buy corporate policy to do so!!! I have sent a request to corporate to have this issue resolved once and for all. I will let you know how it turns out. last year, I fought this battle with the Corporate folks, only to get a $50 gift card, and an apology for my troubles. They stated at that time that it definitely is not policy. keep in mind that the Manager that handled Black Friday was fired.

More than one news source, (Clark Howard, CNN) has reported that LCD TV sales will be the big draw this Holiday season. Electronics and computers will do very well in general, as the stories tell of vast buys and hoarding of these items (waiting for the recovery)which must now be sold, or lose too much profitability to the newer technology.

We discovered that the shopping center power to the outlets that were found in the grassy areas went off at daylight, and back on again at sunset.

We will be having Thanksgiving Dinner on the Saturday after Black Friday. Too much work to have to rush relatives out the door!

We used our Laptops to order from Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. This was done while being camped in front of Best Buy and using free Wi-Fi from a restaurant nearby. This helped mitigate a rather mediocre Black Friday. All of the orders went through.
