  1. Just got a recent report from Best Buy, Duluth, Ga. More to follow on this one!
  2. http://www.nbc-2.com/story/20123586/black-friday-shoppers-camping-out-already Fort Myers, Fl.
  3. They could be, but if the draw for that item was that strong there would be lines all over the place. Similar comments have been thrown around concerning the Chromebook, but the official line is, they are not getting them in time for Black Friday.
  4. It's that time again! The amateurs and the Pros are getting geared up, and some early reports are that the climate for extremely early camping is tenuous at best. I am trying to get the details, but South Florida has campers at Best Buy and drama has unfolded out in California with the two earliest "campers". Perhaps some threads can be merged here, because there is information regarding Target lineups as well. Sears and Kmart will also yield some first ever campers as well.
  5. A few topics you might mention are the ladies at best Buy saga and line report thread. If it hasn't started, I will kick it off. My video on YouTube spawned some pretty hateful remarks, even a guy who said he would take my items by knife-point. Doesn't phase me a bit! We have police officers in the group! Time to pack!
  6. My report on the Best Buy El Cajon webpage was right on the money!
  7. Most managers had an emphatic NO! after that question since they have to hold quantities for their sale by law, and the amount can vary from two to six by most counts. Best Buy has countered the Sears initiative by having up to 3 times as many in stock.
  8. That is because they ARE an evil empire! With that being said, it must be understood that it is we, the American people who have created this monster with our insatiable desire for inexpensive products. Walmart was just the one who perfected the process of delivering those goods to us. Once Pandora's box was opened, it was all over and we didn't even care even though a wake of broken dreams followed every new store opening. Does this mean that I am Anti-Walmart? Heck no. I like Walmart because they stepped up to the plate when other retailers who came before them failed to do so. Just look at Sears and Kmart this year(now the same effectual company). After years of dismal ads, and so-so items cropping up here and there, they finally stepped up and gave us what should have been a long time ago....a competitive advertisement. They had the ability to step up in years past, but had a complacent attitude towards their customer base, and expected us to shop there anyway. As far as the protests and possible strikes are concerned, I would caution those who would try and disrupt shoppers in their quest for these unbeatable values. It makes no sense to put organizers and strikers in deliberate harms way, just to get a point across. I am not looking forward to visions of protesters being arrested for subversive and disruptive activities on this most time honored event.
  9. The worst has to be the Button incentive at JCP. Replacing a time honored tradition of Disney snow-globes with buttons has the potential to be the biggest letdown of the year!
  10. Last year, they had 24......
  11. I recall that last year, all campers in St. Johns County were kicked from the property, so please do your homework.
  12. I emailed the store manager. I asked him not to give out any Ipads, or other enticements as I view this is a safety issue for the rest of us who camp for long periods of time.
  13. I am still waiting on the sale on monday. There may be a campout at Best Buy, or Sears.....right now it is too close to call! Sears.......
  14. I found this article on their web page. If the community wins, the people might have to move. Black Friday: Rolling Hot News Location: Best Buy El Cajon Schedule: Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 6:00am – Friday, November 23, 2012 at 12:00pm - Westfield is asking that no lines form prior to 6:00 A.M. November 22nd.
  15. The way the one lady was slurping down soda, she was extremely hot! As others have indicated, they are the most ill prepared of the early shoppers. Sunburn will remove them faster than anything. [video=youtube;wll6GGuzy5k]http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=wll6GGuzy5k Camping is for the pros. The video will show you what you will need to stay for long periods of time.
  16. If anyone scores a deal on Amazon, please post it here! Be sure to have your computer up to date, and have all unneccessary services turned off. Also be sure to sign up for one click ordering! Good luck!
  17. I hope it was a great deal that holds up. I did that 2 years ago while waiting in line at Best Buy for a TV and beat the price by a wide margin! It was not Amazon, but an electronics dealer in the Northeast who had it delivered on my birthday.......Black Friday!
  18. Unlike the lightning sales on big expensive TVs, these smaller items are where Amazon really excells. They are more likely to have these items in stock at the appointed time and you can save on tax and shipping in many cases as well. When people normally reflect on Amazon, they will agree that the smaller items are the bulk of their purchases. Be sure to include Amazon from the UK as well. I asked them last year if they were participating and they said no. A few days later, they announced that they were participating and listed small item deals as well.
  19. Before everyone gets too excited, you have to consider the likelyhood of ever getting the advertised item, which will be extremely low for hot items like the lightning deals. They literally sell out in seconds! People who do not camp are all chanting that The Amazon approach is a better way to get the item without waiting in line, but the reality is that they are making a very big mistake and will this will lead people down the wrong path of expectation and ultimate disappointment. Nothing beats a good gameplan where you put in your time to invest in a sure thing, rather than a 90 second keyboard flurry of button mashing frustration.
  20. I have been having some rather long conversations with my BF buddy, and so far I am still being lured to the dark side. That evil 50" LED from Sears beckons me, and now some of his "friends" are calling to me as well. Unless something breaks, like a final ad or even a "Secret sale" I may be forced to camp out at Sears this year.
  21. I confirmed the details in another post.
  22. Yes, it appears that the boys from France are sitting out this one. There are a number of smaller items to lure in customers throughout the day. This fits in perfectly with their business model from some years back, where they roll out merchandise throughout the day, so you may find pallets still full at 5PM like back in the day.
  23. Best Buy's Laptop lineup has suffered ever since their Sony contract ran out. Remember the Vaio with the Bluray/DVD combo for $499?
  24. The best part of shopping online is the satisfaction of knowing that the lower demand items will be there, and you can concentrate on the high demand items in line at the brick and mortar stores.
