I was thinking the same thing!

Best Buy normally has the best behaved lines, primarily due to the ticket system.

Uh, no. -
Half price Books shouldn't even count as a contender. They willingly give theirs up to brad and other sites. Ace, Harbor Freight or one of the drug stores will probably be early.

Official "Let's have a chat" or "I'm in the chat room" Thread

It was short, but it will get better as we get closer to BF! -
Walmart always seems to be the worst at managing a crowd. It is no wonder why you see them in much of this 2012 Black Friday Disasters Super-cut http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBk32OUxCnU

I think that diapers and even toilet paper make the perfect door-busters. I cannot imagine anyone getting hurt rushing through the door and landing softly upon a stack of those items!

He definitely knew what he was doing. He has an internet persona and thrives on this.
-
We first need him to chime in, just to see if he is even doing it this year.

2012 had the best front, but the back lacked that "kick" that the shopper behind you felt when they read your shirt!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAeMeLhjswQ Here is a video of a heckler. I recently visited this very Best Buy(got the lowdown on camping there) because my son is a Marine stationed there. He is thinking about camping out with some buddies. This heckler has a posse and they stationed themselves outside the store in order to ridicule the shoppers as they went inside. I personally hink that he should have been escorted off of the property. What do you think? BTW, the shoppers were well behaved!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBk32OUxCnU I thought I would start the video thread this year. I am trying to find some that might have not hit the mainstream. If Brad keeps the thread, perhaps you can post your all time favorite here!

With a 55, you would be in the same boat if a 70 inch came into your price range. I cannot even fathom that jump just yet! The fridge is a solid choice and mostly overlooked by most shoppers.

I have always liked the idea of a ball cap with something like: Gottadeal BF Veteran The caps would be a different color(gold, silver, etc) to signify "years of service" which is your member since year. If you win a contest, you would automatically recieve a cap matched to your level of service to the community. If the cost is too prohibitive, perhaps they could be purchased(at the level of service, of course).

I believe that the desktop has more value for kids than ever. Most can be upgraded to play newer games and we are seeing digital distribution of PC games as the vehicle which finally made games affordable. A wise parent can purchase a Black Friday quad core computer, video card, and then shop for indie bundles for great game titles, some for as little as a $1. If you look around, you will see sites such as Humble Bundle, Indiegala, Bundle Stars and Groupees sell 5 to 10 games at a time for a very low fee ranging from $1 to $5 on average. Which console will give you that kind of value?

Whatever you do, please, no pictures of shopping carts! I personally like a shirt designed like a football jersey. That way, you can have your slogan as well as your number 10 on the back. "Celebrating 10 consecutive years of stealing your doorbuster" "Courtesy of Gottadeal.com" "Black Friday Madness....Gottadeal style!"

Perhaps you should seek counseling for him. It sounds like he may be in a bit of depression that could be out of your control to manage on your own.

$600 is a possibility, since we have already seen open box units for sale at $650 (returns). I would definitely flip my 50 inch if one comes into that range....

There are quite a few things that can be done from your vantage point. You could always donate in his name to some of your favorite charities, especially to underpriviledged kids. Leave one small gift of a pair of jeans under the tree as your gesture of still caring.
-
I notice that small children may be the recipients of tablets this year. A solid investment would be a protective case for any purchase of devices which are in the mainstream.
-
I just saw a 60 inch plasma open box special (return) for $650.
-
With prices going under $900 for 60 inch HDTVs, perhaps this is the year for a $650-$700 60 inch special.

I wonder how long after the first ads hit that the official "BF 2013 sucks!" rants will begin. Gottadeal has an archive, so we are better informed than most others in this regard. If you look at prices over the last 8 years, you will see a steady decline in the price of most of the electronics that we desire the most. I find this defeatism to be infectious and helps to keep the lesser informed lemmings at home to battle it out with other online shoppers in the hope of scoring the big ticket item. You can then count the days until the next rant about online inadequacy to begin.

The last year that Black friday fell on my birthday (Nov 26th) was 2010. I have 2 birthdays by 2020 which will fall on Thanksgiving. I may be the only person to have celebrated both my birthday and thanksgiving at Best Buy in the same calendar year (documented by the media, of course).
