  1. I always find it amusing when people declare their unwillingness to go out on Black Friday, then throw their concerns to everyone on here when their chances are obviously and drastically reduced! Luckily, for those persons who shop online there is always the chance of grabbing some item that is not a high demand, low stock item. Real Black friday veterans have learned to shop throughout the year and augment their stash by online sales when possible. Nothing will ever replace the shared personal shoppping experiences brick and mortar stores offer to the Black Friday shopper.
  2. You need to change it to "Dud with a thud!"
  3. I had a good idea from the electronics manager about what not to expect. High demand, low supply items will not be available unless they have covered the minimum stock that must be guaranteed on their sales ads. He did recommend joining the rewards program to be able to shop early for some of the deals. He was also trying to get me to spill the beans after asking about camping out for the 50 inch LED and other hot items that have best Buy beaten this year! This particular Sears owns the property and indicated that it was ok to camp for the week of Black Friday if neccessary.
  4. I was actually quite impressed with it. The model Number on the Toshiba 50 inch LED is the same as Best Buy, but $100 cheaper.
  5. The 50L2200U Toshiba is $100 less at Sears on BF!
  6. The best part this year is the begging and pleading I am getting from people who want me to continue the Best Buy camp-out!
  7. Have you considered the liability of owning a trampoline? Many insurers will drop you if they find out you own one. You will also need a fenced yard to limit your liability if you are allowed to own one without a rate increase. Like the other poster implied, the trampoline makes a pretty good projectile in inclement weather. Just last week, one of our neighbors had one fly away! It will be your fault and not an act of god if it damages property.
  8. I have been doing Black Friday for over 15 years. In the early days, we would form a plan based upon the Needs and wants of the family. Usually, it meant that I could go to CompUSA and still be back for Walmart shopping with the wife. This was pretty standard fare, with one year missed due to an extreme lack of deals anywhere. The Plans changed after 2004 when I decided to check out Best Buy which my Niece frequented every year. I was in the top 10 at CompUSA and had finished my purchases when I went over to Best Buy just to see how crazy things were there. Inside, I saw a long line winding around the back of the store and just happened to ask a person what was up. He said that the line was reforming due to the Manager releasing 50 more televisions! This was the 51 inch $1200 HDTV for just over $800, and I needed one bad! I called the wife from a store phone after securing a place in line and the rest is history. Within 2 years I would begin to formulate a way to be out in the elements and became a Best Buy regular to this day.
  9. Taz, Can you post your picture so we can get a better look at it? I have a similar Newspaper article, but it gives a different verbiage for our addiction!
  10. You just might have to live with the leavings and slim pickings then. You may try "5 Hour Energy" to get you through the time change.
  11. 8-12 is a more humane opening time, although it infringes on the employee's expectation of being able to spend time with their family. There always seems to be a trade-off these days.
  12. #1. "Attention Walmart shoppers, I know you are a bit dismayed, so let me assure you that Emerson and Polaroid are in fact real televisions, so feel free to toss them around as you normally would!" # 2. "Quick! Let me in!!!! There is a gigantic strapless Bra chasing me from Macy's dept store!!!!" #3. Son: "See Mom, I told you this would happen!" "Dev said in the 101 camping rules to shop BEFORE Black Friday for supplies". Mom: "Whatever!!!"
  13. Any chance you can recap your 2011 experiences on the line, your sickness, and the value of having friends with you? Many will plan like us, but the unexpected can and will happen.
  14. I am with you on this one! Other sites are already poo pooing the initiative.
  15. In one of the videos is a "worker" with an SEIU for Obama tee shirt. Interesting if these infiltrators will adversely affect the outcomes for the actual employees.
  16. In your case, a Line Mate would be preferable over a Help Meet.
  17. I have been fortunate to be allowed all of the above, from tents to cooking stoves. The only concern that the management of Best Buy and the Property owners had was keeping the peace, and by this i mean that they wanted me to be in control of the situation while they were not there. It is a lot of work, but it can be done, and it is optional of course.
  18. Target is such a tease! Especially with the target lady!
  19. I enjoy getting Blurays and small items, just as much as the TVs and computers! My favorite objective costs absolutely nothing. It is the enjoyment of watching my wife go absolutely berzerk in the stores! We get home and it is like, "What in the !&^%#&@%^ did you buy, lol!
  20. Don't make me cry! I still remember when Best Buy would have the 100 packs for $5! (2006)
  21. Walmart and to some degree Target are off limits for young children. Maturity has nothing to do with the immaturity of grown adults who are not under your direct control.
  22. Here is what I do when they pull this maneuver: Complain until they cave and give you a $5 credit toward another purchase. It is a small, but effective leveraging tool when dealing with price mistakes. Buy.com and Overstock.com are known for pricing errors, and the credit will stay in your account until you need it for that next Bluray purchase.
  23. I had assigned numbers past my group anyway, so the people knew exactly where they stood even before i upped the ante. (In other words, my group could have taken up to 9 of each item.) The problems arose when those who were specifically told to abide by the number system decided to cheat others in line by adding family members at the last minute. I had given everybody enough time to declare how many were in each group. They failed, and wanted justice. I gave the numbers to the manager and when he heard of the line cutting by the front 50, he threw them out! Serves them right. I am currently hooking up church members at no extra charge on leftover TVs and Laptops.
