  1. This is all an abundance of caution because they MIGHT start doing this. I think we should all just keep an eye on things and report any major changes. I asked one of my pals in GS today, and he said the only major change was really the electronics one. They wanted to make it clearer. Hopefully that is all it is and we won't see any big changes.
  2. Wow! You can find a sitter for that time on that day? We have a hard time finding a sitter ever, let alone then. My kiddos stay home with DH. He hates shopping and crowds, and I wouldn't want them along with me. If you are looking at items at Target, you can buy the week ahead and then go price adjust a little later in the morning before the sale officially ends. They, at least, will do the price adjustment for the sale as long as you show up during those hours.
  3. These get boring really fast. We bought for DS7 last year and now they just sit. He has all his IWAKO hamster erasers set up in the track.
  4. As a company they do not. However, there have been cases where they have limited returns for people. There was a famous (infamous) piece on 48 hours or one of those night time "news" programs several years ago where they stopped a woman doing any more returns at all. We have a local store (just one) that has a limit of $250 in returns per day. Individual store managers have a lot of leeway in that regard. I am just very suspicious of the new wording, and would not be the least bit surprised if they do start putting limits. If they start tracking all returns by asking for an ID, I'd almost guarantee that they intend to do it. So far they have not started regularly asking for ID. I also do a lot of returns because I buy a lot. You may simply want to do what I do, and spread your returns out over multiple stores and don't do them in bulk. It is easier to leave them to pile up a bit and do them all at once, but probably better to keep up with them and make the effort to go to different stores for it. I imagine you have several stores near you since you are in NoCal.
  5. LOTS of mens summer clothes 75% off today. Polos, short sleeve shirts, tshirts, shorts. Got some good deals. DH wears short sleeves year round in here in CA, so very nice.
  6. I think that is likely. The new signs JUST went up. Could be they started the new policy 10/1. I think they are trying to reduce returns in general, so they can use the policy to cut people off if they are returning more than they want and just point to the policy. They probably are trying to just be more clear on electronics. The ID thing may mean they plan to start tracking people's returns, too. That has happened with other stores. They monitor overall returns and cut people off if they return more than they like.
  7. That IS interesting. I will have to watch my receipts. Perhaps it is new for clearance? They have also posted a big new sign in Guest Services regarding the return policy. I haven't had a chance to read it fully for differences, but I did note that it was up. They specifically reserve the right to limit quantity of returns if I read a small part correctly.
  8. Funny, I was buying a couple of mens polos today that weren't stickered correctly. I thought it was sneaky too! Most of our electronics was salvaged, including all the GPS units, no surprise. I did get my boys each a pair of the Panasonic headphones. They are fed up with the crummy little ones that keep breaking and we're hoping these work out better. Regular $40 got them for $10 http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/13/59/13596830.jpg
  9. To be clear, they are not "sending it" to Goodwill in the sense of giving it to them. They sell it to Goodwill. Goodwill buys salvage the same way Big Lots and other discount stores do. In the current market there is not enough of this type of merchandise available for the discount stores, so they are willing to pay more for it than they used to. That means that a lot of stores are able to salvage their items at higher prices and given the labor cost involved in markdowns they have to determine if the trade off of selling it at salvage is better than doing another round of mark downs. That is why we see stuff disappear sometimes before it gets to 75%. Each Target does salvage as the general manager sees fit, so your local store must be getting good enough % on the $ prices from Goodwill to make it worthwhile.
  10. I think clearance has just been lousy lately. Even given the season of the year, the clearance has been grim.
  11. I keep one in the basement for when I make a batch of home brewed beer. :-) That and I use it to brine the turkey at Thanksgiving and when I need to cure the bacon before I smoke it in the smoker. Handy little thing, but we have to keep it turned off the rest of the time. You know those things use as much electricity as a full size one?!?! No Energy Star small fridges!
  12. Possible, but I kind of doubt it. They are too bulky & heavy to ship. The cost of shipping them would erase any kind of bargain price someone would get for them. But they might be going on Craigs List or other thing like that, particularly if near a college.
  13. I have had them tell me that also. If you want to raise a stink, I think you have a good case for it. Here is the policy FAQ on their website: http://sites.target.com/site/en/company/page.jsp?contentId=WCMP04-040400 I'd try printing it out and going in and asking for a manager and keep upping it till you get to the store manager. They have several layers of manager, and they'll tell you they are all equal. It is not true. If you get no satisfaction and you are really feeling ticked off, report it to your state attorney general. It is the kind of thing they go after stores on, and they'll generally at least get the store to clarify it in writing in the store.
  14. So jealous! Our stores are all sold out. I was watching it too. Congrats!
  15. They are still shipping more, so they might have restocked. But you are right about people overbuying. One of my cashier friends told me that the first day they had people spending over $2000 on stuff and the guest services gal had told her that a lot was already being returned. It looks like a lot (most) of the stuff listed on ebay is ending without selling.
  16. Yep, it is a matter of taste and what you like. Loved Liberty of London, don't like Missoni at all. Funny to see them lined up again this morning hoping for more merchandise. Most were disappointed and complaining because they'd been told to expect more today. What I have seen I found ugly. Today they had more of the luggage. That might be worthwhile, though, as it would stand out more on the carousel at the airport!
  17. Personally, I don't care for it...but to each his own. That said, one of my local stores said they are already getting returns from people who are overbuying. Best guess, bought too much to sell on ebay and prices aren't what they hoped for. In any case, keep checking back if you want stuff, they may have returns.
  18. Maybe ours will finally go, then! I need some grass patch (we do that in the fall here anyway) and a sprinkler timer. Little left. No hoses for weeks now.
  19. DH's backpack bit the dust at the fair yesterday, so we went this morning to get him a new one from what is left of BTS markdowns, and sometime between Friday afternoon and today they managed to manually mark them 50% off! I don't know when since I was there late Friday, but they were down today. Our good luck!
  20. Wish ours would. Most stores they seem to be disappearing as they set Halloween.
  21. anyone see the nerf guns go down today? I have been waiting, but ours don't seem to have dropped today as I expected.
  22. BTS is all over the map around here. Some stores 30%, some 50%, some have tons, others nothing. Much of what is hanging there isn't actually marked down at all. Wanted to get a cute binder for DS, but it was full price. Backpacks universally 30% here. DH needs a new one as he carries it to work. Like to get the high end ones when they go cheap.
  23. I mostly use it to check other stores for stock and such.
  24. I have an Android phone, and target has a free app you can download.
