Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2012

Not generally. A handful of states allow you to do it by state law, but otherwise they'll only give you the current selling price on seasonal if you return it for any reason other than it doesn't work. -

There isn't much left today. Yesterday the only store that went 90% was the old Pasadena store. I was at East Pas, Duarte & Rosemead yesterday and all were still 70%. East Pas is 90% today. -

Gotta hold onto that cart at all times. Leave it unattended and it happens every time. People filling carts and leaving them alone, the carts tend to look like go-backs carts. I know I always go through them. -

They marked a number of toys to 50% yesterday at the stores I visited, but nothing 70%. Probably in 2 weeks. Fortunately the store I felt confident would go 90% yesterday did. They had a ton of stuff left. I was out for work all day and stopped by 3 other Targets, all were 70%, but none had much left, so those probably went today. Haven't gone out yet and don't intend to go to more than my local stores. Got what I was after and some mantle clips for mom. All is well. Oh, except that the candy stayed at 50%. That was annoying. -

Unless she was salvaging it at the time you talked to her, I'd check back. We've had them say this before. The only stores that usually salvage it without going to 90% generally have had next to nothing left. Not that it never happens in a few stores, but it is rare. Usually it is because the manager is fed up and wants to stock the new merchandise. -

I imagine it will be tomorrow. Overheard several managers yesterday (one of our stores does a lot of training and district meetings upstairs) and they were surprised it hadn't gone 90% yet and said all she knew was that it was supposed to salvage on the 11th (which seems late). -

sounds like bs. they rarely have a clue about markdowns even in the store. it is possible, but I seriously doubt it. They don't mark regular merchandise down further because they have an outlet by way of stores like Goodwill, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Big Lots, etc. that buy up salvage at a % on the dollar and will take whatever. Those stores tend not to want the holiday merchandise because by the time it gets to salvage it is worth very little and they have to store it for a year, so not worth their while. That means Target doesn't have a ready salvage outlet for it, so they get what they can in-store. Most everything sells at 90%, so they are better off. The 70% thing is new for all departments. They probably figured the extra 5% is worth it given what they are salvaging for. Electronics used to go to 75%, but most stores seem able to salvage for more than 70%, so they only go to 50% most of the time (by no means all the time or on all items), but there is a lot more demand for salvage at a higher price, so that explains why they are not going as low as in the past. But I won't believe the change from 90% till I see it. -

They have no reason not to go to 90% as it gives them something for the stuff. It has virtually no value for salvage (unlike regular merchandise that they can sell to salvage companies), so they are better off selling it for 90% off and getting something out of it, particularly since they don't have to mark them manually. -

Interesting. Here in SoCal there is still a ton left at all our stores. I'd be happy to have it stay 70% for a few more days so I can get in on 90% later in the week. -

I figure they'll wait till tomorrow. They often do when it falls on a weekend to allow max traffic to buy at 70%. Maximally bad timing this year since the kids are out of school, and the Rose Parade makes getting around difficult tomorrow. Messes up all my shopping plans since we have plans every day. Oh well. -

You need to research who enforces scanner pricing in that county. Most places it is weights and measures, so google that and the county and state name. -

Well, if it makes you feel better, you can return all the cookies if you bought them. They have to throw them out if you do as they can't restock the food. When they have stuff mis-stocked, you have to bring it up in the store at the checklane. In most states they are required by law to honor the price for at least one piece of each item, but the rules are hinky when it comes to percent off. The other thing to do is to find out who enforces price scanner errors in your local county and report it. You can't bring it up at the register if you intend to do so as they'll fix it and reporting won't help. But if it is a regular problem, reporting them to the authorities is the only solution to it. I've done it. And I have made sure the manager who would not honor the price change knew I did it. Now he asks me to come to him if there is a problem, and they always honor it. It looks like you should call your county auditor's office and find out how to report inaccurate scanner prices so that you can get them caught out. In CA they have progressive fines and it gets the store manager in trouble with corporate. Here is the link: http://www.erie.iviewtaxmaps.com/ -

They still get plenty of great stuff, but more people are bargain shopping, and they buy at 50%. They had everything you mention on Monday. And they are the ordering less. They made the % change earlier this year. -

I have not been out nearly as much this year as I am busy with my kids doing a Pokemon Tournament Marathon. Locally, Pasadena has a fair amount, but it really depends what you are after. None of the stores I've been to have really been cleaned out, though I would say Alhambra was unusually low on stock the day after Christmas. Heading to Fountain Valley for today's tournament, so I will try to stop at the Westminster store on the way home. -

Hoping 70% is tomorrow. Mom never gets to get anything and she is going shopping when she returns to TN tomorrow. Took her out with me, but she could only carry a small amount back in her suitcase. And I need 90% to be Monday, not Sunday. Definitely seeing more coming out from the back in some stores. -

Hmmm....now I have to go look at ours. I have a Sony Ereader that I got at Target for that price a year and a half ago, and I like it. My kids would like them. I'm getting a Kindle Fire, so one might get my old one, but still... -
