  1. I'm so exhausted I didn't even go to Target. We went to get our Christmas tree this afternoon and drove by. There was a line of traffic trying to get up the ramp to the upper level of parking. The middle level was completely full and I am sure the bottom level was too. There was a line of cars coming off the upper level ramp too. Past the first weekend of the month of December, I try to steer clear of the store on the weekends unless I can go during the first hour they are open.
  2. Got a notice in my Red Card statement, and if I remember right it said it would arrive January 3rd. I meant to post it when I read it, but forgot. On hiding, Gator Pam also shares some commonly shared spots. The difference between an employee taking it to the back and a consumer doing it on the sales floor is that it is possible to "find" it on the sales floor. Most "hiders" hide their items in common spots. So common that many of us have found other people's stashes. That is how I managed to find a Lego Harry Potter Castle. I was looking for something else entirely on the Lego shelf, and was moving some of the big sets around to see if they were mixed up, and there it was. :)
  3. I'd agree if there was an opportunity for the customer to find it first. Often there isn't. Not if the employee is taking it as she marks it down. Or if it is taken before the store opens. I don't think any of us has a problem with people shopping on their breaks. Saying that it isn't fair that an employee can't take advantage of a markdown because she is working is silly. Many of us in this discussion work, and many look at this site while they are at work, learn of a markdown deal, but cannot go take advantage of it until we get off work or are free to go. The same should be true for store employees. But we all digress....and big, bad Brad will probably step in and yell at us if we continue this discussion. We have had it before, and many of us disagree. The discussion isn't likely to change any minds....
  4. Oh please. I've certainly worked retail. And, at our department store, we would have been fired for shopping off the clock. We had a specific procedure we had to go through to put anything on hold or to purchase. If we didn't we got fired. It is one of the many reasons, though, why customers hide stuff. Not just to keep the other customers from getting it at a lower price, but to keep the employees from snagging everything.
  5. If it goes back to the floor then it isn't "salvage." Its "repackaged." Your store may be different. At our stores here, price change team loads their carts with the great deals and keeps them if they want them. Plenty of employees put stuff in the back that they know is being marked down, too. I know because they have told me they do it. One was upset last summer when the train table she put back for herself to buy for her son was taken by another employee. She knew I was hitting all the area Targets for the toy bargains and had me looking for one for her.
  6. Salvage at Target means that they get packed up and sold off to a salvage company or one of the big charities like Goodwill or Salvation Army. Not repacked to sell on the sales floor. You can see that the NJ stores sell it through Liquidation.com.
  7. Yep, that is the program. However, the coupons were being handed out at the door to every customer who entered. Also quite nice. Probably to promote the fact that they are doing something nice. They have been promoting the heck out of all their charitable efforts in order to counter the never-ceasing email campaign that goes around every year indicating that they have singled out the Salvation Army for not allowing them to set up Ringers at their stores. Which, of course, is a complete exaggeration of their actual policy.
  8. speaking of coupons...watch your receipt coupons! I just got a $5 off $25 purchase with mine. I was using my Red Card, and I don't know if that matters, but keep your eyes peeled! It is valid till the end of January.
  9. He wouldn't let you "use" it? Or he wouldn't give it to you? It is valid till 12/31!
  10. they weren't obvious, they were in what looked like brochure. it was white and said something like Holiday Helpers in red script.
  11. Nope. Last year they were wrapping gifts for seniors and stuff. this year looked more generic, but the pharmacist was there giving out magnifiers and glasses cleaning stuff, too. I got a handful of the coupons and I'm only 40.
  12. looks like some have little lights and some are bobbles. not real in terms of the i-dog family. just look like them.
  13. they were handing out $5 off $25 coupons this morning 8-10. They may do it later, but it is part of their annual promo for seniors. I got several. they expire 12/31.
  14. Which sets? Did you happen to notice? I like to buy these when they are so cheap to donate to a local group that works with single moms who are pregnant.
  15. did anyone find the clearance video games marked down further today? They hadn't gotten that far at my 2 stores this morning, and I am trying to decide whether to stop back by. I only need one of the guide books for DS who is obsessed with instruction books (like his engineer father) and loves Super Paper Mario.
  16. They just show up from time to time with all the other clearance. Usually on an endcap. They generally have a large red and white striped price tag over the bar code. They often look out of place, too.
  17. For those of you who were looking at the Memorex CD players and stuff. I previously mentioned the tinny quality of the sound. Well, now the thing stopped working entirely! Less than a week's use! Going to try to take it back, but we don't have any of the packing material. Hopefully we can. What a bummer!
  18. Oooh! I bet there will be a TON of this stuff after Christmas, too! I always keep an eye open for it, but mainly in one store. I'll have to do the full perimeter again. I have been too busy lately. I have found some additional Hotslings baby carriers for $9.96, though. All internet returns.

  20. OUt of stock online, but available at a lot of local stores. Just enter your zip code. CircuitCity
  21. Hmmm. is it a moving target? because it shows $99.99 now.
  22. I'd sure try. Maybe you'll get someone nice and it won't be a big deal.
  23. Worth a try, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go for it. Particularly if it was a BF deal.
  24. Only if the "regular" one is also on sale. I noticed that for BF they had the "300" regular DVD on sale, but the Special Edition was full price. People kept trying to switch them out.
  25. Why? Their last several ads have been just awful! Their "doorbusters" have mostly been junk or not really in stock. I have been VERY disappointed with their sales since about September or October.
