Probably. The markdown team are told to scan certain sections each day and to mark down various items. They often expect items to go down the same as us, but corporate may have something else in mind. The markdown team doesn't always know what is going down. She may have been scanning them because she thought it was time for them to, but if it didn't spit out a new red tag and give her a lower price, then she can't do it.

It is the 9 digit number on your receipt. You will also find it on the red clearance tag, on the shelf label, and on the price scanner when you scan an item. If you know the DPCI number, and if your Target has the number pad along the side of the scanner, you can also input the number there to see if the price has changed or if they have more inventory in the back. Though sometimes it is wrong from the actual inventory quantity.

Well, I went to both Pasadena Stores, Duarte, Diamond Bar, San Dimas & LaVerne. All were 90% EXCEPT LaVerne. LaVerne wasn't wiped out, but they didn't have a ton of stuff either. For those of you who might have an interest, the Classic Pooh Leather Shoes for Christmas (Like Robeez) are 90% off! They come in two colors, one like below, the other I think had just red trim. They don't really look Christmasy at all IMO. They are often mixed in with the regular MiniStar shoes in the baby section, or with the Pooh shoes. which legos? I have been to 6 stores here in LA County that don't have them marked below 30%.

Both Pasadena stores went 90% today. They didn't hit 75% the same day, so go figure. I'll be heading out to check out the other stores on my way to my business appointment this morning. Be sure to check other aisles!!! I found some Christmas toys in the regular toys. I also found some GREAT baskets (the ones I posted pictures of last month) in the aisle where they usually have that kind of stuff. Look for the green or silver tags that indicate Christmas. I got a couple of large ones for $2.99 & 2 smaller ones for $1.99. These will be great to make gift baskets for our preschool fundraiser in a couple of months!! Also found a few of the Battleship & other games hidden in amongst the regular games. Finally, I got a Thomas Christmas train (mentioned earlier by another poster) for $2.80.

It seems like the consensus is that we think it will go straight to 75% by next week. There is always the chance that they'll drag it out and drop it to 50% next week, but they don't generally do that with the Christmas clearance. It usually goes faster.

Yes, I think Madre will be 90% today. It went 75% early with the others back east, so I am hopeful they are on the same schedule. I'll be there at 8. I have to drive out to Diamond Bar today, so I'll hit all the stores through that area in Duarte, San Dimas, DB & LaVerne. Keeping my fingers crossed!

my experience with this is that some of the smaller stores tend to clear out items that the larger stores are going to keep because they have more space. that might be what you ran into here. I hate it when they ring up full price like that when you are expecting a deal, though! Just gives me a sick feeling because I was so excited!

Ugh! I couldn't see that far up. If it is still there next week or whenever they do the next markdown round, I'll post again.

Walmart is a serious Your Mileage May Vary kinda place for clearance! They do it at the individual store level, and ours is HORRIBLE! That is putting it nicely. They had the same stuff in the clearance section for 2 full months without making any major markdowns. they just left it there taking up space. They apparently get a budget for their markdowns, and they can only do so much per period. It is allocated from above, but they have to do it manually at the local level. We almost never get good deals. Those Legos you mentioned would never go below 25% off. They'd just sit on the shelf until someone paid that price.

I had to go out to another area later this morning and stopped by the Duarte store (smaller one), and I saw Leapster Letter Factory games 75% off - $6.xx. No joy on the Wine Cooler. I found some at one of my stores, but they are still $50.

Just that they must not be making enough money. My suspicion is that they can make more on them salvaging them than other things.

He was still there at 8am. I don't know if he was getting a further markdown or not but he was definitely still there.

When I was talking to the markdown lady today we were discussing how things are changing with the way Target does markdowns. She told me flat out that Electronics will no longer be dropping past 50% off. It will be interesting to see if this holds true or not, but it is what she told me.

Some toys were being marked down further today, but only a few. The Magnetix tubes went to 75%. Some of the games went to 50%. The gal I spoke with who was doing the marking said that only a handful of things were getting the extra markdown.

They go in early in the morning, around 4 or 5am and work until 2 or 3pm usually. They do not work overnight, but items marked in the early morning hours are ready when the store opens. Sometimes this includes toys. Just depends on the schedule. They are provided a list of items in different departments each day and they go through that. If there are a ton of things in one department, like toys right now, they'll all work it together and go aisle by aisle. If there are some in HBA and some in Pets, they'll split up and knock it out that way. Most of the time they stick somewhat to the schedule on page 1, but when they have more than usual, they will sometimes get behind and the days are off.

Oh, almost forgot, I saw another Butterscotch Pony today at the Target on Madre in Pasadena if any of you SoCal types are looking. He was on the top shelf over the games as far in the back corner as you can get. If those go straight to 75% some employee is likely to get it, but if you really want it and can get there at the right time it could be you!

Yeah, it is a nice thing. Before I found this list I used to go every day blindly hoping. Now I have good info. I REALLY appreciate you guys!!! Sorry to hear about your weather. My mom went to Disneyworld for Christmas with my brother's family and returned to Indiana and 18 degree weather with snow. Yuck! We are about to get 4 days of rain. I'd complain, but we are in the middle of a drought, so we really need it.

I have to agree. While there are some items I would sure buy at 50%, I don't think they are going to go there this year. Around here last year, they marked more items to 30% earlier, then did the 50% week after Christmas and then 75% that second week of January. Since they started with fewer marked early, I think they'll do the whole bunch in one fell swoop. Particularly since they need to get the new toys out. January is when there are TONS of new releases of toys and toy lines. In some stores they already have some of them out, so you can see a bit of what is coming.

I saw bouncy seats on clearance. Just 30% but I didn't pay much attention to which one. I was looking at other things and ran across it.

They may simply be moving it or consolidating it. We have seen that before. Particularly if they are trying to set the Global Bazaar stuff or the bulk stuff that goes in the current spot.

Electronics are a funny thing. Sometimes they don't lower them. Several of us were watching things last year at this time, and this summer, and they got to 50% in some cases and then either disappeared (salvaged) or the prices went back up!! In some cases they salvaged at 30%. Other times they take them all the way down. It is really strange.

Noticed that the Christmas design - oval shaped Kleenex is now 75%. When I scanned it before it still rang up full price. However, unless you need this size/shape, you are still better off buying the current 4 pack in the reset seasonal area with the bulk stuff.
