All quite true. I saw a markdown team member working last sunday in one of my stores! I was shocked. Last year a number of people reported 30% all the way up to the big 75% day. Crazy.

I visited 4 stores today, and the clearance in toys is HIGHLY variable. Some stores have clearly not done their markdowns yet, so they don't have much by way of good prices. I noticed several items that were Target Exclusives have suddenly been stocked heavily in toys. That includes several Lego sets as well as others. So, be sure to check back even if it didn't look liek much yet. I stocked up on paper towel, napkins & glad zipper bags. I also got a few things of dish soap (we don't have a dishwasher). I was just finishing off the ones from last year, so it is good timing. Too bad they didn't seem to have Christmas trash bags this year. I bought so many last year, though, that I still have some unopened. My mom laughed during her last visit and noted that I would soon be in fashion again with my trash bags. :)

I was stunned today! I saw one of the markdown team working the toy department! Never seen that on a Sunday before. The Amy Coe & Tiddliwinks baby bedding stuff was all marked 30% off today when I was shopping.

it is online only, and basically just says 30% off a few items.

SO funny. I was about to head out with the boys to buy a "Christmas Present" for the cats. They are in dire need of a new scratching post, and we almost always buy it at Christmas time! Thanks OP!

Oh, cool. I haven't had time to get down to that store for at least 6 weeks. I'll probably start trolling it again when the toy clearance comes around. The toy manager told me they were thinking about tearing the store down to rebuild it larger. I think Kohls is hurting their business. Apparently they are thinking of relocating it to the part of the parking lot closest to Costco and using the rest of the parking more effectively. It will be interesting if they do it, but I'll miss the store while it is closed.

That's cool, but we were talking about toys on that one.

has anyone been out this morning to see if they did the markdown on the video games? I am still hoping to get the guide books for my 2 boys and hope they are down today.

I found this on an endcap next to the Smith & Hawken garden stuff inside the store for those who might be looking or it.

I was able to pull up the ASIN for it, and it at least works on the online checker: B000LDU2K4. None left in my area.

Cool. I have been SO busy helping a friend with her business (Christmas crunch) that I haven't had time to peruse much. They do this every year, though, and I have been saving my Polly Pocket coupons for it!

4 am. The markdown team starts well before the store opens. The best thing is to get to know the markdown schedule listed in the first post of this thread. Then understand that markdowns generally are on a 2 week schedule. 2 weeks at 30% then to 50% for 2 weeks, etc. If you can get to know a particular store well, you can start to get a feel for the time of day & day of week the markdowns occur for the items you want. There is no hard and fast rule, though, because there is great variation in what needs to be marked down. Target doesn't know in advance what will sell well. If something is a dud and they have a lot of it, or the economy tanks, then they have a lot of a particular type of product, then it throws off the markdown team's schedule. But as a general rule go early in the day. If they haven't marked something down and you think they should have, you might check back later in the day. Never call and ask about it, though as that just alerts the employees that items are cheap, and they may buy them before you get there.

what? They are just on clearance. Like other clearance at Target. They generally go down on the regular schedule as in post 1 of this discussion.

they are on clearance. ours didn't go down again yet. a few did, but nothing the kids want.

probably not till the week after Christmas or just before Christmas. I seem to remember them putting out New Years stuff last year, so that would have needed to happen a little earlier than right after Christmas. But it might have been local since we are the Rose Parade city.

I'm expecting it to happen Monday. I need to get one of the guide books.
