I'm thinking between 2 and 3, don't need anything big, maybe some video games, itunes cards and coffemakers...

OK, I've admitted that I'm in a midlife crisis to hubby. I want a Vespa but it is past the moon out of my wildest dreams this year! I thought we were talking something frivolous but possibly affordable.

Do you keep track of how much $$ you spend on Christmas?

I am spending a little more than that this year since I am getting the boys laptops, but that is pretty much their entire Christmas, dh and I are not doing much for each other. -
What about a used system? Gamestop has the 40 gig for 229.99 on their site and might have other choices in their stores. My son has a used xbox360 from them that works fine.

A bike if he likes to ride and has had a growth spurt. Both of mine outgrew their bikes within months of each other a couple of years ago. My 15 yr old is now on a 26 in as he is nearly 6ft already and the younger one is on a 24 inch, big change from his little bike... OR if he has a basic bike and is interested in one of the ones with all the gears, etc...

I get the feeling that you like A Christmas story. Me too, I threaten to get a leg lamp and mourn that my kids are too big for the bunny suit!

What's the worst gift you or someone is your family has ever received?

Ok, my second Christmas with my dh as a couple we had just moved into a new home and I got, a black laquer ceiling fan since it matched the fireplace (I had commented that it would look nice, not that I wanted it), a double boiler since I make these cookies that require one and I was just using a pot on top of another pot, and the monopoly game for the gameboy (the original) which he always had and played anyway. He's still living that down 16 years later.... -
yes, the apple refurbs are great and they look like new, at least the 4 shuffles and 2 nanos I've bought so far do....THinking about a touch also, but probably not for Christmas, I have a classic 120 (dh bought me) so maybe towards the Feb blues cycle...I still tend to use the shuffle at work more than the classic (have the song list I want to listen to on it, christmas at the moment).

I had never heard of the tumblers either although I've seen similar stuff in high end gift shops... Ordered 2, beach santa mug for me for work and a gator tumber (24 oz) for dh for what ever he wants.....

What's the value on the van. I look at that as being a discount on the price of the dollhouse. And I know when I was that age I wanted to drive.... LOL

Thank you Brad.

I have always told my kids that because there are so many kids in the world now, that Santa needs some help. That the movies don't explain how much work he has to do since Hollywood makes everything look simple (we've always talked to the kids about how what happens in the movies isn't always so realistic and that they take liberties with the stories...). That being said, as they started to ask questions about how come Santa didn't always get everything on their lists, I invented the Parent share, where parents have to help out and put in a portion of the money for the presents. THat also helped explain why some of their friends got more or less (parent's income, etc). I'll never forget the day when they asked me if I thought I'd be able to foot the parent share of the Xbox when it first came out. (We were having some bad years at the time...). But it's always helped explain the day without ruining the surprise or bad feelings of why they didn't get all they wanted. And why momma is shopping for things on BF that they get from Santa (he asked me to pick it up, his elves are on email and now Twitter...)

The Dr Pepper one is cute. Just about any Christmas commercial will make me smile but I do love the Coca-Cola polar bears....

I so want to come, but I'm in Jacksonville Florida. Maybe another year...:)

My team at work and another team have adopted our troops this year so I probably won't be shopping BF for them as we have to get the stuff done and ready for mailing just after BF (and we are closed on BF so there is not an easy way to get together to add stuff to the packages). But in the past we have adopted families and have used BF to get stuff.

A lot of Chinese restaurants are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. THe last few years we have had Christmas dinner at one (not quite as funny as "A Christmas Story" but a lot of fun for us and no dishes to wash). WHen I was younger my family would meet up at a seafood restaurant near my parents house for Christmas Eve dinner. THey did close early though. First year they said 8 but stayed open until 9 because another large group came in just before close....
