Josher5513 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 So, I've been using GottaDeal since BF 2005, and have been shopping BF deals since a couple years prior to that, but I have to say it's all getting out of hand this year.. All these "Secret on-line, but in-store only, super secret thursday at midnight, etc" deals are just confusing me. I leave my computer for 10 minutes, and come back to find even more threads about more secret items on sale in store and online for BB, CC, Walmart, Sears, etc. THEN I come home today, and I suddenly have Wal-Mart and KMart's black friday ad's in my mail (On the Monday before black friday!!), and they're different than the ones on here! At this point, I'm so confused about when to check online, and where, I'm considering just forgoing black Friday this year... (I had planned on shopping before work, and possibly online) Anyone else feel a little overwhelmed this year??
Miss Star Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm with you on that feeling, so many updates and onlines and so much else, plus waking up with a horrible cold this morning, I don't see this week being as fun and exciting as I had planned. I will just make the best of the stores I decide to go to and the deals I hopefully get. Hope things calm down for you and you get to enjoy the holiday and the shopping.
angel-too Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Yes, it definately is informantion overload!!! But I dont need something from every store thank god.....so i've narrowed it down to only two stores and having to only keep an eye on there on-line BF sales. If they dont have what I want then I know I'll have to head out to the store. I think it will also help having the actual ads in hand, discarding others I dont need. I keep going back and forth between ads comparing prices even though I have things written down!
crys Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I have been feeling a bit anxious this year. I am looking forward to it, but it seems like I have trepidation with all the recently added hurdles.
conj Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 yup. I have no big plans for BF, which is odd, since DH is all gung-ho, but I could take it or leave it... makes the big secrets less overwhelming
jellybean051901 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 i all ready have my shopping planned. If the store I hit first happens to have a really good super secret thing I want (which I highly doubt seeing the current ads) then i will have lucked out.

If the store I hit first happens to have a really good super secret thing I want (which I highly doubt seeing the current ads) then i will have lucked out. I used to have my trips figured a week ahead of time, but like the others here, I'm just overloaded with everything. : Not to mention DW will be joining me this year so my stress level just upped to triple digits. Oh well........just take it as it comes and hope for the best!!
dmmiller Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I agree, I dont know if I"m coming or going at this point. Everything is starting to look the same with the posts, and I just know I"m missing something. Usually I'm not 100% on what I'm doing till I have the ads are physically in front of me, so I guess I'll be busy thanksgiving. :)
guilliam Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 THEN I come home today, and I suddenly have Wal-Mart and KMart's black friday ad's in my mail (On the Monday before black friday!!), and they're different than the ones on here! My Walmart ad looks the same, am I missing something?!?!
jarerice Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am very over whelmed this year. Everyone is eating at my house! But everyone is bringing food.
gim77 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 My Walmart ad looks the same, am I missing something?!?!Sometimes the regional ad will have different things that are available. Same reason why they ask for your closest store on the website if you wanted to see this week's ad.
TamiL Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am underwhelmed so far by any of these ads?? Normal sales prices seem to be on par with most of what I've seen...
elite2058 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am confused and overwhelmed. I have bought some of my gifts already with the great sales (kmart 20% coupon-got a XBOX Halo $329 and Plasma $549). So, just need a few things, but I dont know which store to start. My dd can't wait. I wish the sales were better.
guilliam Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Sometimes the regional ad will have different things that are available. Same reason why they ask for your closest store on the website if you wanted to see this week's ad.Ok, thanks. I was afraid I was missing out on seeing all the deals!! (panic was setting in LOL)
rachealb Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am also a bit underwhelmed this year- not much in any of the ads I want, a couple things at Target, but that is about it. Everyone seems to have the same things on sale at every store, and I dont need 10 cameras and TV's!
gr8girls Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 This is too funny! I was coming in here to post the exact same thing. I almost wish my computer would freeze for a few days just so I can eliminate the compulsion to check ads every few minutes! I am going nuts,,,,,,,,between this, 2 sick kids, having to bake 20 pies for everyone...
orriee Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I think all of the extra information is great, I can't wait to go shopping :)
Daisimae Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm underwhelmed by all the non-sale pricing. My plans have totally changed. I'm not shopping at my usual haunts. I am buying is considerably less than I usually do.
tjarena Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am extremely overwhelmed! It's all these on line secret deals. I feel like I have to stay up all night to check all the secret deals like Staples, Amazon etc. And how can you leave early and enjoy shopping when you are worried about missing on line deals? Talk about shopping stress! I think Friday night we are all going to need a drink!!!!!
onemill Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I agree! I am not even sure I understand the super secret deal stuff! I am absolutely certain that I am missing some good deals, but at this point I need to concentrate on getting Thanksgiving dinner prepped and cooked. If I get some deals on Friday...fine. If not, then oh well.
BoulderChick Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I am extremely overwhelmed! It's all these on line secret deals. Talk about shopping stress! I think Friday night we are all going to need a drink!!!!! I agree with you. Should I go out in 17 degree weather with snow showers or shop online. I'm leaning towards shopping online. Happy Thanksgiving!
Princess7915 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I've just decided that if the stores want to make it so difficult then they are going to be the ones that suffer because I won't be spending the big $$ that I usually do! I'm only going to buy what I need for gifts for people on my list and what I feel is for a good deal. That's what my BF holiday shopping is about! I'm not going to break my rear end trying to find where they've hidden the super secret sales! I would think that after last years terrible holiday shopping reports that the stores would have learned their lesson and tried to welcome the shoppers not to put them off completely.
Guest Mom1979 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 THEN I come home today, and I suddenly have Wal-Mart and KMart's black friday ad's in my mail (On the Monday before black friday!!), and they're different than the ones on here!ahhh so I'm not the only one who noticed that? Jo Anne's Fabric's BF ad is different than what was posted on here too. The Sears ad I recieved is also different, and on items I need too, so it's noticable to me. I've got my search narrowed down to a couple of deals, but still yet, it's confusing me. And I pray what I saw on here is what's in the Lowe's ad because if it's not then I can forgo black friday altogether this year, no one has anything I want. or need.
tigerlady Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I'm leaning towards shopping online. That is what I am doing. I was planning on taking my sister out for her first black friday sale (she is usually a procrastinator when it comes to x-mas) but with all the lack luster deals and secret this and in-store special that. It's not worth my time. It's bad enough I have to go to KM on T-day morning to try and score a Wii, unless I am lucky enough to win at amazon (I don't have that kind of luck though:no:) I much rather sit infront of my computer in my warm PJ's and click away. So the B&M stores don't get my $$$ this year. Too bad for them.
Brad Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I think all of the extra information is great, I can't wait to go shopping :)Do you hear that Wal-Mart?Do you hear that Target?Do you hear that Linens-n-Things?Do you hear that OfficeMax?Do you hear that Big Lots?etc... People actually like to have information and time to look at it, and it *gasp* makes them want to go shopping even more! Imagine that!
kfinto65 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I'm underwhelmed this year. I work nights and usually take Thanksgiving night off. This year I have decided to work. I will stop by CC to pick up some blank DVD's but that is about it....
Steakgoddess Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Nah, I rather like ALL the information. It makes me a more informed shopper. I can get the best deals that way. Just an FYI: Again, ads can vary because of the region you are in.
CanadianPrncss Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I wasn't until I started reading about people lining up Thanksgiving morning for BB, which is where I need to be to get my item. And from the sounds of it, I won't be getting it. I am not that desperate to stand in line for 24 hours. Plus it's cold where I live. I live in Canada though, so I don't get the Black Friday ads, and I have to rely on the net. I was excited, but now the whole prospect of going to Best Buy is freaking me out! I'll get there for 5am and cross my fingers.
shopping4my3son Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I am overwhelmed but my adrenaline is starting to kick in. LOL I have a feeling come Friday night I am just going to crash. Lot more to keep up with this year with online and in store and all the different times of EVERYTHING.
zinnbball Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I am with you.. when is it best to buy and from where.. better on-line at the store, wait? now? I want the very best price and it is all driving me crazy.. I like the information, but it is also making me very unsure about what to do
