bigjimslade Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I post this every year and love seeing the postings. The question is will you do recon on Wednesday night? Post your thoughts!
mgmckny Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'm not sure yet. Money is tight this year and I actually don't need a lot of the early bird type stuff.... DH and I will sit down and finalize things in the next day or so and then we'll see.
yogiyb Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I always have in the past at BB and it was worth it. BB is not my first destination stop this year but I probably won't be able to resist doing a quick walkthrough.
dmmiller Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I probably should, cuz i'm gonna be getting there kinda late on Friday morning, and I'm gonna have to make the most of out my time when I get there. :)
bayhaysay Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 The only recon I'll be doing is with my sale ads trying to finalize plans. So, none of the options in your poll really applied to me so I chose the last one...too funny, lol. :)

happysunshine28 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I just couldnt resist the last option. That is just too funny. If I had a BB close to me I would probably recon, but with my shopping options no need to. Just might shop online this year to try to get some deals I wouldnt be able to get locally and to support GD.
gvanlare Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I actually just got back from checking one of four Kohl's within 20 miles to see which one was going to be the best. From memory, I noticed a few things and noted quantities (kitchenaid mixer for one, at least 20 on the floor). I will probably check again closer to BF. :D
amyers12345 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I will head to different Walmarts this week to see who has things that I want PM'd. I may do that on Thursday night, since it is hard to see the fine print in the scanned ads. For example, my WM has never carried the Sports Pack for the wii, but they put out about 50 of the Nerf version the other day. They are amost $40, and I want to see how close they are to what CC has for 9.99. I will check games, DVD's, and toys, also, so I can see what I need to worry about.
pogiporkchop Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'm doing any remaining recon on Tuesday, when I'll have my brother to help me out with the kids. Otherwise I've already done a lot and the biggest decision is which plasma TV to get! :)
len_mullen Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I guess so. I'll stop into RS and Staples this week to check out some items I'm interested in (11.3" frame, GPS). I'll ask about quantities and price matching as well. If I can get RS to PM, I'll start there BF.
Tivo_Al Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I actually did some on Saturday. Found out that the Navicon GPS unit in the Radio Shack ad was recalled and they have not decided on a replacement yet.
jam265 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'm not sure yet. Money is tight this year and I actually don't need a lot of the early bird type stuff.... DH and I will sit down and finalize things in the next day or so and then we'll see.I have to agree. I'm finding the things I need are not on sale, at least in the black Friday ads.
samisma Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I've already started my 'recon'. I'm in such an up&coming growing area that we're having new stores pop up all over the place. The employees probably think that I'm nuts because I've been in their stores multiple times since they've opened and have not bought a thing. I'm just trying to get familiar with the store layouts and also the staff attitude. The only one I need to do Recon on is CC because their store hasn't opened their doors yet-but if you look in the window (and i have because I'm that weird) everything is set up and ready to go. I'm going to be very disapointed if they combine their grand opening with black friday.

kyatt Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'll probably do a little recon at Sears and JcPenny's on Wed. Those are the 2 stores I most looking forward to hitting on Friday morning, so I'll scope out the availability of merchandise on Thanksgiving eve.
BrotherFlounder Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'll have to do my reconnaissance on Tuesday night, as my Dad's birthday is Wednesday. I'll probably just do Home Depot and Circuit City.
Scanner420 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I do for TRU because they change the floorplan to accommodate the traffic flow. They usually have the floorplan mapped out w/ ducttape prior to closing. Then you can see what's in the way and inquire to it's whereabouts.
UofIgirl2000 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Why am I waiting until Wednesday? What do you think I was doing this weekend? Besides, I'll be with my In-Laws that night, a good 3 hours from the mall where I'll be shopping.
bigjimslade Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Why am I waiting until Wednesday? What do you think I was doing this weekend? Besides, I'll be with my In-Laws that night, a good 3 hours from the mall where I'll be shopping. The reason you wait until Wednesday night is that 2 hours before the store closes most of them start to set up for BF and put out the shrink wrapped pallets on the floor. The people who work in the stores want to get home quick on Wednesday night as they know they will have to be back at the store around 2am on Friday.
Kandy Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I am actually going to ck out a few places tommorrow. because I will be shopping an hour away from me, and in a different city than normal. 1st time BF in this city and will be there tomorrow afternoon.
onemill Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 You Bet! It is part of my plan for Weds. I also did some initial recon this weekend. Better to plan than to get trampled in the initial rush of confusion on Friday morning!
outnumbered Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I usually do some snooping around as BF approaches, but this year I'll be shopping with my mom in her new neighborhood, many miles away, so no sneak peeks this year. I'm actually really nervous, lol, going to stores I've never been to before. I need to at least know the store layout!
Edbingo Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I've done recon before BF. But this year the deals are so crappy I won't be going to my favorite store...BB. The first store I'm going to is one I've never shopped...Kohl's. So, I'd like to be able to get a layout of the store and figure out where stuff will be. Just don't know if I'll have time with work and relatives coming in that day. Good luck to all and to all a good night.
