  1. Nintendo Switch and some gift cards. Haven't seen good deals on either yet.
  2. What a nightmare. Keep getting timed out of my cart.
  3. Ha ha, THIS! And not just on BF. Twice in the last week I've had online ordering issues. I thought it was supposed to simplify life, but not so. When advertised deals don't show up in online carts and you have to spend an hour on the phone with tech support you wonder why you bothered. And when you order one item and instead they send you five of a completely unrelated item that you didn't order, and you have to drive down to the store to rectify the situation, you wonder, "What are they smoking in the warehouse?". And then there's Amazon and the inability to do a straight exchange for a faulty item sent. You have to return and re-buy, but usually the price has gone up by then so you're forced to pay a higher price for their error. Just endless complications...
  4. Do we know yet when online sales will be up? Seems like many went live Wednesday night the last few years.
  5. Oh, that sounds good! I hadn't checked Target's ad yet. Glad to know!
  6. I'm in need of a new laptop with i7 and an optical drive, and I can't find one anywhere! Has anybody seen one??? I do a lot of photo / video editing and all my stuff, including past work and 3rd party programs, is archived on dvds, so this is a must. I can't even find options to add an internal dvd drive on the hp and dell websites where you can supposedly "customize". The only option they have is a clunky, inelegant, pain in the neck external drive with a cord attached. Help??? ETA: I see the one posted in the Sam's Club ad! Looks perfect! Although, like you said, I can't see the drive in the pics either (?)
  7. Yeah, for the last few years I've been doing more and more online. Last year I didn't even go out (mostly due to recovering from surgery).Did most of it online on Wednesday night. Think I'll do that again this year, it worked out pretty well, except for a couple items sold out online.(But then they were likely sold out in-store too, unless you camped out for them, which I've never wanted to do.
  8. Wondering if there will be any deals on the new kindle fire tablets. I know they're already pretty cheap, but an extra deal would lure me into buying more than one, since a few of us in my family are due for tablet replacement this year.
  9. I always wait to get all our dvd's on BF every year, instead of buying them as they come out throughout the year. It drives my kids crazy, but it's worth the good prices. Latest seasons of lots of shows can be gotten for like $10-$15, and recent movie releases the same, plus some oldies as low as $2. We just made our list last night of what shows/seasons/movies to look for. We like to own our favorites so we can re-watch them whenever we want without relying on whether Netflix will get rid of them (as happened with Dr. Who, for instance). We have a closet with floor to ceiling shelves for them so no clutter! We usually find some video games as well, and memory cards, flash drives, etc. have been a staple lately too.
  10. We have gingerbread & candy canes in the kitchen. We used to have snowmen in the family room on all the shelves by the fireplace, but we got tired of snow, moved south and did away with snowmen, lol.
  11. Christmas Eve is usually soup and appetizer / finger-food type things, and lots of cookies. It's normally spent with extended family or people we won't necessarily be with on Christmas day, and we try to make it simple because Christmas day is the big full turkey dinner like Thanksgiving, and I'm usually heavily involved if not doing the whole thing. My favorite day is the day after Christmas, which we've designated as "Game Day", when anybody who wants to come brings leftovers and we play board games and party games. It's so relaxing for me (no cooking involved!) and lots of fun!
  12. Yeah, some years are better than others and this is definitely not a good one for me either. Don't need a tv, and that seems to be what the best deals are on. There are no new game systems or even any much-awaited new console games for the guys on my list and not good enough discounts on any older games. The dvd/blu-ray movie offerings are mediocre... I found a couple seasons of one tv show we're interested in, and that's it. I need a reasonably good deal on a men's mountain bike and nothing I've seen has knocked my socks off for that. Clothes for dd...seeing the same "sale" prices as usual throughout the year. Was hoping to find a good sub-$150 unlocked cell phone for dd's first phone, but they're all ridiculously over-priced. Do people really buy $400-$700 phones for their kids for Christmas? I don't know... most years I can find something to get excited about, but this year... I'm just not feelin' it.
  13. Is anyone else getting annoyed with the overcommunication from companies you order online from? Mostly because it has ruined numerous Christmas presents this year! They keep sending emails and pop-up ads "inspired by your purchase history", or "people who ordered this also ordered that", that are a dead give away to everyone in the family who uses the computer!!! My whole family has guessed what I got them! I'm highly annoyed, but not sure who to voice it to...
  14. When is the best time to use it? It looks like it will overlap with some sales / deals. Can it be stacked with other coupons/codes? What are you all planning to get with yours?
  15. Yay, I got Big Bang 8, Cinderella, Inside Out, and the Dell $299 Laptop! Going to bed now. : )
  16. Well, so far lots of jewelry and clothes to wade through, none of which I'm interested in. Not really any movies or tv shows, which is what I usually get a lot of on Amazon this time of year. But, it's early yet.
  17. Alright, finally! Got the Infinity Marvel Superheroe Starter Set for Xbox and Big Bang Theory. Going to bed now. Good night, or morning as the case may be. Happy Shopping all!
  18. I got the one infinitiy character I wanted, but not the starter set for 360. It sold out online before the sale ever began. Bogus "sale" if you ask me.
  19. Yeah I was afraid of that. They're trying to get us to leave our turkey and go out in the cold tomorrow instead of shopping online in our jammies tonight. I'm not buying it, lol.
  20. What the heck. The Lego Movie went from Coming Soon to Sold Out Online. Did anybody get it?
  21. Yeah, it's the infinity I'm watching for too. I have an email from Disney with all the Infinity prices everywhere - the Marvel bundle is supposed to be 37.99 at Walmart, but it apparently already sold out while priced at $50 something. Unbelievable. It's still showing available for all the other systems.
  22. Why would something go "out of stock" just before the sale starts? Been refreshing the page for a certain XBox game, first it was at the higher price, now it shows out of stock without ever going to the sale price. Makes no sense, unless they don't really have any, but are just advertising them.
  23. I don't like it. I like to enjoy the holiday without either rushing off early or feeling like I have to choose getting a good deal over spending the evening eating, visiting, and playing games with friends and family. We don't get together to do that very often because of our busy lives, but I can/have to shop all the time. I really don't want to shop on holidays too. So this year, since what I want to get is available at Game Stop, I'm shopping there, since they start at midnight.

    Holiday Budget

We keep a Christmas club account that saves up about $800 for us every year, so we try to keep it to that. Sometimes we go a little over, but never spend more than $1000 total. We do 3 gifts for each kid - one big "Santa" gift (none of them believe in Santa anymore, but it's still their big gift), and then one from me and one from dh. It's true that the older they get, the more $ we wind up spending on them - little guys are so much easier to find great deals for! But in general we try make each kid's big gift around $100 and their smaller gifts from us around $15-$30, and then with stockings it works out to around $200 total for each of them. Then we do around $100 for each other and $25-$50 on each of our parents. We usually draw names for extended family - siblings, neices, nephews, etc. and that may be another $20 or so.
