  1. The Bealls ad has some darn nice stuff this year! And that (rumored) $150 netbook at OfficeMax isn't too shabby, either.
  2. Thanks Brad! This is probably one of the best ads I've seen, and I'm loving that Bealls sent it directly. (Hey, Stein Mart, are you paying attention!?) Hope I have money left over for the palm tree. I've kinda wanted one of those for awhile. (What? Me, a stereotypical Floridian? )
  3. That GPS is $219.99 on Staples.com right now, so it should be $119.99 on BF. http://www.staples.com/Garmin-nuvi-255W-Portable-GPS/product_751450?cmArea=SEARCH
  4. I haven't shopped at Kohl's on BF in the past. Are these mail-in rebates the norm for Kohl's? Seems like a big pain to me.
  5. Well, this is definitely a much better ad than Sears' was, which is odd when you think about it. Nice to see!
  6. I don't see why it wouldn't, though you probably won't want to cook it as long with almonds.
  7. Sugar Spice Nuts 1 lb pecans 1 cup sugar 1 egg white 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tbsp water Beat the egg white and water in a large bowl until frothy. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well. Add the pecans and mix well. Try and get all of the pecans coated. Spread the pecans in a single layer onto a baking sheet. (I recommend using disposable baking sheets on top of your normal sheets; this stuff is murder to clean.) Bake at 200 degrees F for 45 minutes. Remove and stir every 15 minutes. When done, stir again, allow to cool for a few minutes and then transfer to a bowl. Don't let them completely harden on the baking sheet or you'll have a rather difficult time getting them off. Enjoy!
  8. Maybe I'm just getting used to sale prices, but this ad has me a bit underwhelmed, at least with the clothes. It doesn't seem like there's anything groundbreaking. It does, however seem like all of the normal sales rolled into one weekend. The electronics, on the other hand, seem like some pretty good deals. Can't wait to compare them. And nice to see the ads coming out at last!
  9. My stepladder and $30 7' Christmas tree from Home Depot last year, and my 4-piece Ryobi power tool set from Home Depot two years ago.
  10. Note to self: Do not complain about the record highs we had here in Florida on Thursday. I'd rather have heat than snow for BF!
  11. I'm not sure if I'm going to be in Tallahassee or Jacksonville this year.
  12. I vow to spend more money on presents for others than presents for myself.
  13. My best Black Friday experiences have always been at Home Depot. Two years ago, in Jacksonville, they had coffee for the ten or so of us waiting at the entrance at 5:30, and were very helpful and pleasant when the doors opened. A great contrast to the organized chaos of Circuit City. Last year, I was in Kennesaw for Thanksgiving, and didn't make the doorbusters anywhere, but Home Depot still had plenty of everything at 3:00 in the afternoon. And again, they were by far the nicest and most helpful employees of any of the stores I've been to on BF.
  14. AAAARGH! Please open a store in Florida, HPB!
