RossMAN Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Any recommendations on a lightweight foldable chair? We'll probably get in line at BB around 12:30 AM (after visiting Comp-USA at midnight) until 5:00 AM. Here are two foldable chairs I have found so far: http://www.gijoes.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1977497&cp=717274.712684&parentPage=family http://joe.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p1933961reg.jpg http://www.gijoes.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1411138&cp=717274.712684&page=2&doVSearch=no&pageBucket=0&parentPage=family http://joe.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p1169668reg.jpg
jpeyton Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Are you going to the one on Canyon Road? The first chair looks sturdier at the cost of being slightly heavier; the second looks like it can fold up into a much smaller profile if portability is a priority.

Yeah the first chair looks sturdier but the 2nd is significantly cheaper.
ebony0421 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Our chair looks similiar to the 2nd chair. Now post your magic stay awake formula since you are going to be in line so early. :stir:
erh12275 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 We have a chair similar to the 2nd one and it was great for 4th of July. If you could only find one w/ a seat warmer in it...lol.
alimfp Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I still can't decide.. maybe you should get one of each and let us know which is better next year, lol. ebony - It's called excitement.. that's what gets me out of bed (if I go to bed) on BF. :)

DaleRider Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 It doesn't get really cold here just wet and windy, I just don't want to be on my feet for 4.5 hours.LOL!!! Have to agree with that.....stood one year, never again. We use, believe it or not, director's chairs for our seating. While heavier than your choices, we both like the sturdy feel and the no-sagging of the wood frames. We set up around mindight, although we're looking to set up at BB around 11PM this year because of their 5AM start time. I'll leave Debbie just before MN to head over to CompUSA (about a 1/4 mile from BB) while she "holds" our place in line. Then I'll come back and she'll go out to take a break, warm in the car, etc. An hour or so before the doors open, we fold up our camp-out junk (chairs, portable TV, CD player, books, Thermoses of coffee and hot tea, etc.), pack it in the back of the car, and wait with just our tickets and $$$.
turtle_elf Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 You all are serious? You really get there that early? 11pm or 12am? With chairs and portable tv's and thermos??? I don't know RossMan. If you are going to be there that long, I'm thinking you need one of those air mattresses.
nick_jenni_jocelyn Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 i think the 2nd one looks more comfy.
ozziebandit Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 It doesn't get really cold here just wet and windy, I just don't want to be on my feet for 4.5 hours.Honey, you don't need a chair, you need my mini-van! The back seats fold flat, both they and the middle row captian chairs are removable (for hauling, doncha know!). Jacks and adaptors all over the place for phones, computers, video games, a vcr and dvd player. All my daughters and I need for Black Friday in WallyWorld's parking lot! Oh, bathroom breaks, you say? Well, a son has offered his portable deer blind! Sleeping bags, taking shifts in line....it could be a very comfortable wait. Ya know, I think I have way more fun planning BF than actually going!!
starshine Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I would say the second I have some like that and they are sturdy yet light and easy to put it the bag and haul around.
teresa92 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 We have a chair like the 2nd picture. We got it at Kmart for $14. It's really comfortable.
fairydustcrissy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 thanks for reminding me that I too will be at BB for a while, and I will also need a chair. Now to wait and see what Rossman does.....
Marcster Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Any recommendations on a lightweight foldable chair?Ross -- did you see this one: http://joe.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p1169817reg.jpg http://www.gijoes.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1411133&cp=717274.712684&parentPage=family&page=2&doVSearch=no&pageBucket=0&parentPage=family It's only $24.99 and you could catch some as oppose to the upright backs of the other chairs. It is less than 4 lbs. more than the other chairs you are considering.
Lightning_ Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 good god!!!!! Yea... I think I need to re-evaluate my plan of attack for BB. Is this the standard practice everywhere? I usually hit Walmart, but BB is my target this year. Why not just line up at the door when they close on TG day.

motoXmom Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 We have a chair similar to the 2nd one and it was great for 4th of July. If you could only find one w/ a seat warmer in it...lol. I'm taking one of those therma care heat wraps. They are used for sore muscles and things like that. I'm going to layer my clothes and put one of those on! It should help keep me warm.I have a couple of the ones you warp around your back and they velcro together. I hope it works!

motoXmom Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 One year WalMart actually brought out about 200 chairs for people to sit. I thought it was nice of them.
biomajor Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I'd go with the second chair because if you have to leave it you wouldn't lose much. They are pretty comfy too. I would prefer the first chair for everything else though, but for speed's sake on BF, the second is better.
Marcster Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 One year WalMart actually brought out about 200 chairs for people to sit. I thought it was nice of them. That is very nice! Especially for seniors or those who aren't the best of health.
gisellerol Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 that was very nice . i also am thinking of taking a chair this year
Gporter34 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Wish we were closer, you could borrow some of our's!LMAO Between five kids, soccer games, football, and baseball games, not to mention all of the parades, we have accumulated several. They look more like the second one in your pics. They fold easily, and are light to carry. Hubby has the reclining one and I have one with a canopy over it...great for too much sun and for rain!!!lol Got most of our's on clearance for about $4.99 each!
mrsbmb Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 as long as i have a cart to lean on im good to go..
laffnatu Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Marcster's looks comfy too! I would go with either Marcster's or the second one. The first one doesn't look like it would be too comfy.
mrsbmb Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 here is one i saw at a soccer game i was at. it was a misty rainny day and man was i jelous of this chair. lol http://images.ltdcommodities.com/images/itm_img/289FebRun05/lqc.jpg

copados1993 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I have a question......if you bring chairs and your with someone else, can 1 of you put them back in the car before the store opens and hold the spot for the other person, or will they make that other person go to the end of the line? Do that many people REALLY bring chairs??? I love the idea, but want to make sure it's really a "great" idea.
SuperMommy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I like the second one. We have chairs similar to that. You can just fold it up, put it in it's carrying bag, and throw it over you're shoulder while you shop (if you don't want to make a run to the car before you head in the store). What are you gonna do with it before you enter the store? The first one, for some reason, reminds me of a hospital.
