Tracy72 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 do you all wrap your gifts in boxes or do you buy gift bags to up things in.....we put clothes in christmas bags and box the rest
elena_398 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Box everything. Tag gifts then put bows on them
fairydustcrissy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I like to wrap/box and wrap. My mom only uses bags now. I think paper is more fun for the kids (and adults!)
Gporter34 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Boxes for everything. The kids looked in all of the bags when I tried them one year.
StephanieD Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I prefer boxes. Boxes are a lot more fun to open and they are prettier under the tree.
elena_398 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I used to do the ribbon, but the kids don't appreciate that! LOL. Still do it on the relatives gifts, but I make it plain and simple for the kids.
cami_reardon Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Both *S*. The kids that are still at home, I box their stuff. Family, daughter, grandkids that I won't see until they get their presents, I bag. It makes for a nice variety under the tree. And it saves oodles on cost for me because I bought 50.00 worth of bags two years ago (on clearance) after Christmas so I still have probably 200 or so bags. :greenappl
oldandintheway Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I like to use boxes and wrap them. I always have tons of wrapping paper left over from the previous year at Target's after Christmas clearance. I tell myself every year that I won't buy any more wrapping paper, then I find some cute designs in the store and can't help myself.
shay Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I put everything in boxes. With a 2 1/2 year old, it's hard enough to keep her out of the boxes! She loves the wrapping, and thinks that everything with wrapping MUST be de-robed! :) Shay
bayhaysay Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I use bags for everything except some of my kids gifts. They like to tear off the paper.
Guest all2tired Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I prefer boxes. I enjoy wrapping them except for the backache I get.
outnumbered Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Bags are expensive...you can get a whole roll of wrapping paper, or one bag. I go for the wrapping paper and only use bags when I am re-using one I have already received. Um, I hope that's not tacky. They still look new.
elena_398 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I've re-used. Especially if my daughter gets a character bag for her birthday. She got a huge Dora one this past summer and Im saving it for my nieces as now they are obsessed with her
erh12275 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Both. Whatever works for the item I am wrapping.
Tracy72 Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 only use bags when I am re-using one I have already received. Um, I hope that's not tacky. They still look new.nope not tacky...I save all my bags to reuse..
fairydustcrissy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I save all my bags too. And when I do have to buy them, I go to the dollar store.
rkcjwares Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I wrap or bag everything. I use a lot of the little $.25 bags that I pick up on clearance every year for a nickel. They work great for little things or gift exchanges for the kids. I also re-use my bags from the previous years if thier not ripped ( same with the boxes)!
mjmcca Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Not tacky to reuse bags if they are in good condition. I try to do that if the kids dont get to the bag first.
PaulaJC Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I put the clothes in boxes and wrap everything else. I use bags for last minute wrapping. Last year I wrapped each of my daughters gifts in their own character wrapper. It really saved on the bows, tags and ribbons. However, I did use them on presents for other family members. I really wanted to wrap up Hubbys in some sort of hunter/outdoor/deer type of wrapping paper but couldnt find anything! Oh well. Anyway, My mom and I reuse all the bags and boxes. We just put them together and take what we need at wrapping time. Paula
littlezar Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 My kids stuff is all wrapped. Everybody else is wrapped unless it's odd shaped and it's easier to fit in a bag than try to wrap. I still tie bag handles together with the crinkle ribbon and stick bows on bags.
jll2375 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I wrap everything - usually in the free boxes I've got from various stores. I can't bag anything with kids and family around - they'd all be in to everything.
Kygal2003 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I do both...it just depends on what the item is. I also reuse bags if they are still in good shape!
orangedaisy Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Boxes all the way! I only use gift bags for "out of the house" gifts like friends and relatives' gifts.
codeblue Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I use boxes and wrap the kids santa gifts in santa paper. Other gifts are wrapped in anything but santa paper.
AuntJamelle Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I almost always put things in boxes and then wrap. Sometimes item is just too big and bulky or oddly shaped for a box so I will either just wrap it as is or try to find a bag. I also re-use gift bags if in good condition. The smaller ones work out nice for giving fragile things, like glass ornaments because you can nestle them in there with a ton of tissue paper. I make sure bags like that are always stored in a safe place and I can be extra careful of them when they need to be transported.
Tessangel Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 It really depends on the item. Usually clothes are boxed and toys are wrapped in whatever they came in! :)
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 depends on a few things *are we talking minutes to unwrapping or days? If its a last minute thing, in the bag it goes! *shape *for whom I like wrapping with lots of ribbon done up real pretty...but no one I know appreciates it... We reuse bags ALOT.I dont think its tacky at all!!!
