While I agree that Thanksgiving (as well as Christmas) is for family, I work as a nurse and as you know, hospitals are open 24/7...we have holiday commitments that we have to make. Who feels sorry for us when we are working Thanksgiving day? Or night shift the night before or the night of? Christmas Eve or morning? I don't feel sorry for myself because it's what I signed up for, but the same goes for the employees who choose to stay employed at a retail store who starts opening on Thanksgiving, if they don't want to do it they can choose another job. Or find someone who doesn't care about working the holiday to work for them if they're not scheduled. I do think it sucks that they are doing this, but I don't necessarily feel sorry for those working on the holiday - hopefully they will get extra pay for it like time and a half.

Where are you in PA that it's snowing?? We're in Delaware County and my son was praying for snow today. I told him probably not, he's bummed. We don't put up our decorations till after Thanksgiving. I would do it earlier but I need my husband's help and he's not as eager as I am, lol!! I love seeing decorations out early!

I don't know what it is about Snapfish but the site is so slow for me any time I ever try to use it. I was on Shutterfly doing my cards earlier today and it was fast and so user friendly. I find Snapfish a lot more difficult and problematic. Does anyone else have problems with that site?

I online shop all year around but definitely not as much as I do during November and December. I love free shipping and coupon codes, they can really make it worth it. But I do enjoy the hustle and bustle of going out to the store or the mall once in a while during the holiday season. I do go out on Black Friday but I'm not one of those people up at 2 am on my way out the door. I usually head out around 8 am or so. But yes, nothing beats shopping in your jammies with a cup of coffee in hand.

Yes, the wrapping paper thing drove me crazy, I had to put a stop to it. I forgot to mention, my birthday is in January and I always felt like everyone was so partied out by then that my birthday was like an afterthought.

Do you or anyone close to you have a birthday in December, close to Christmas? My son, stepdaughter, sister, and husband all have December birthdays. December is by far the busiest month of the year for us! How do you handle it? It's makes things complicated, doesn't it! As far as the kids, when they were younger, we always had a party for them usually the week before Christmas. Now that they're older, we just have a cake with immediate family and a gift totally separate from Christmas. I remember my husband used to wrap my stepdaughter's birthday gifts in Christmas paper and I gave him such a hard time, lol!! I hated that. But they both say they never felt cheated because of Christmas, which is good since we did go out of our way to try to make their bday's special. My sister claims she felt slighted many times as a kid by people saying the gift was for her birthday and Christmas. This year is the first time I'm actually giving my son a gift that's a "combination" gift. The only thing he wants for Christmas is the Apple MacBook, and that's a lot of money for me to drop on one gift. So he said I could give it to him as a combo gift for his bday and Christmas - wasn't that nice of him! But it is his 18th birthday which is a big one, so I guess I'll find a way to give him the one thing he really wants. And he can use it when he goes to college which makes it an even better idea.

My boys' lists are short! My 17 year old wants just one thing - a MacBook. My 9 year old is still thinking... The only thing he has asked for so far is an iTouch, and I already got it for him.

As each day passes, I'm feeling the need to make a list instead of randomly buying things that I find on sale. I'm usually better than this - I usually make a list and if there are definite items that I know people want, I will write them next to their names. Now I'm thinking I should really crack down, make that list, and make it a little more detailed. How do you organize your shopping, or do you just grab things as you go along? Can you share any tips that make it easier and less painful?

I picked up just a few items so far. All of them were deals too good to pass up except for one - I got the Apple itouch for my son. It is the only thing he asked for so far and I didn't want to worry about running around later looking for one, so I just went and got it a few weeks ago. They won't go on sale anyway.
