  1. Probably the most memorable was the year of Tickle Me Elmo. That was also the first year I brought my oldest with. I think he was 13 or 14. We were in line at TRU and second. The employee came out and said they had some in stock. I didn't even plan on getting one but when the doors opened I ran for it and got one for my middle son. My son that I brought with couldn't believe I ran in a store, or that I ran at all. Then he noticed everyone else running too.
  2. Wow!! Our "big" paper is $22 a MONTH! It's everyday. The small local one that comes once a week is $45 per year. Rarely are there any ads in this paper. Maybe Fleet Farm and Walgreens.
  3. Never camped out but stood in line for a few hours. I have lost sleep waiting for deals to go "live" online. Not really camping out when I'm in my pj's clicking refresh and drinking hot chocolate. haha
  4. Ok, thanks. Looks like the 3 left are similar in price. I'd like the kinect if we went with the 360. The kids I'm getting them for are 8 and soon to be 12. I think the Wii U would be good for my 8 year old. They both like racing games.
  5. I'll probably do 90% online and only get a few things in the store.
  6. I still like getting a copy with the ads. We live so far from most shopping that I miss a lot of ads anyway. Some come in the mail and what's not in the paper I have to rely on online ads for.
  7. I think there might be 2 game consoles being picked up for this year. Haven't decided on Wii or Wii U, ps3 or xbox 360. Or the newest systems. I think my DH and I need to get to Best Buy to play around and check out the games available for each to narrow it down.
  8. Yes, I've gotten some great deals on small kitchen appliances during black Friday.
  9. Target, GameStop, Best Buy, maybe Kmart, and Amazon.
  10. It's usually when I get a good start and lots checked off my list. Although with Amazon having good deals leading up to that day I do get use out of our Prime account and make sure to keep UPS in business. haha
  11. I think most people have someone on their list that's hard to shop for. For me it's my mom. If she wants something she just buys it for herself. When I ask what she wants she usually replies "nothing or whatever". I'm trying to come up with a list. I usually end up with buying candles and a gift card to the clothing store she likes. What do you get your parents (or other hard to shop for people)?
  12. I agree with open office. That's what we use here.
  13. Opens October 18th! Stay tuned to Facebook to find out when & where you can get your Toyland Catalog. My kids like the toy catalog a lot from Fleet Farm.
  14. I miss the early morning openings. The last couple years I've been able to find some really good deals online. Some before and a lot after Black Friday. I use to rely on Black Friday for the bulk of my shopping but not anymore.
  15. My 20 year old still asks for everything lol. He was terrible to bring shopping. Finally got to the point I told him it'd cost him $1 every time he asked for something. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. My kids haven't really asked for anything. We don't have cable though either. Most of their tv viewing is from Netflix or Amazon so they don't see many commercials.
  17. I just spent 30 minutes hiding in the bathroom setting up the laptop for my kids. lol We've all been staying up late so I haven't had time to do it at night.
  18. Poptarts. lol My younger 2 asked for poptarts from Santa. They don't know I heard. I think they'll be surprised. They are also getting a laptop to share. I don't think they are expecting that at all. My oldest was here a couple days ago and there was a commercial on for Wicked the show. He said he wanted to see it but didn't know how much tickets were. I ordered 2 so he can go and bring a friend. I think my husband will like the Jeff Dunham tickets which is also a gift for me since I'll get to go.
  19. All gifts but one are wrapped. The one left is a computer for my younger 2 kids to share. I wanted to get it set up for them so when it's opened they can use it right away. Some night after they go to bed I'll do it. The food is bought for when my mom comes for Christmas Eve dinner and for Christmas morning. It snowed some today so I'm hoping to get to the store tomorrow to pick up a few more groceries. Another snow storm is going to hit on Sunday, plus the Packer game, and my kids are now off from school until next year so today was my deadline to get stuff done.
  20. Got it all put together today. Forgot to take pictures before I wrapped it though. I had about 20 gift cards in all. I'm not sure I will do this again. It was A LOT of running in and out of stores for gift cards. I tried to pick up a few each time I ran errands. I found a calendar at Walgreens that opened like a book but was the size of a wall calendar. I taped each gift card over the day it went with. At Walmart I found post-it notes in a Christmas theme. Over each gift card I put a post-it note giving the specialty of the day. On some I gave the address to the store also. Like the specific candy store. Also on the movie theater gift card post-it I wrote the address and that on Tuesday nights they have $1.75 movies. Google helped with various days such as National pancake day (IHOP card), National chicken month (KFC card) etc. Update: He thought it was a nice gift. He even thought of only using the cards each month so they lasted longer. I'll ask in a month if any are left. lol
  21. We've used a fake tree since we've been married. Last year the cat bent some branches and one of the kids broke part of it. We thought we could use the top half this year and look for one on clearance after Christmas. It looked pathetic. We went out and picked up a real tree. My husband was allergic to the mold on the tree when he was a kid, so we are hoping our kids will be okay with it.We plan on decorating it tomorrow.
  22. When I was at Walmart late yesterday afternoon they had a few pallets of those sheets! I asked if they had the kids bedding sets yet and no one ever saw any. I don't think that store got any in.
  23. I never bought them before this year. I picked up the Lego ones. I saw this idea from a blog I follow: http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2012/11/30/real-food-tips-advent-calendars-without-candy/
  24. I placed an order last night. Today 2 of the items are on sale. I emailed trying to get a price adjustment. They don't do that between 11/28/13-12/6/13. So I responded that I want to cancel those 2 items and I will just re buy them at the lower price. Or I'd return them when they arrived. I did site to store for shipping. This was the response today: "We are happy to assist you today. We will do our best to honor your cancel request. Because we process orders as quickly as possible, sometimes the request to cancel arrives after shipment processing has begun, at which time canceling is not possible. If your order cannot be canceled, you’ll need to return the items to receive a refund. " So many other companies work with customers to solve issues but Walmart is rarely one of them.
