  1. I don't think so b/c of the 25/26 thing, it is a promotion circuit city always runs with aol, but for 125. so if you want free aol or something, then you can still get the 125, but aol had it doubled on black friday.
  2. definitely worth it, after rebate i spent about 600 dollars and got over 2500 dollars worth of stuff. which if i wanted to I could turn around and make about that overhead profit, but they are all gifts for people and myself.
  3. not sure yet but I ordered one and will let you know if i get that.
  4. pretty much all rebates are one per household, i can't ever remember any decent rebates that weren't, just send them to another address, i've got 4 of several things and sending to 4 of my family and friends at other addresses. also if getting the same item get it on seperate reciepts each time so it looks like the other people got that themselves, if they are all on the same reciept they usually will not honor it.
  5. well I'm not sure about that laptop, but on my desktop you just put them in the two dual channel slots, then there is a 3rd channel you use if you are not using dual channel, for speed tests you can get software like sisoft sandra.
  6. i wasn't christmas shopping just getting tech deals, so ... using them all as soon as i can
  7. ditto, plus i have about 30 rebates to send.
  8. yeah no jail time for him, put all the cutters and shovers in jail instead for a great 2006 BF, the tax money to hold them will be fine b/c I will save even more on my BF purchases.
  9. pc2700 200 pin sodimm notebook memory CL 2.5 DDR 333 is the od laptop ram you need. already looking around for a cheap 512mb of it that notebook should run quite nice with 768 ram. they have several sticks of kingston and pny going on ebay, should be fine and cheaper than buying through crucial. also http://froogle.google.com/froogle_cluster?q=pc2700+512mb+notebook+memory&pid=4829187676307908957&oid=16050944830375799980&btnG=Search+Froogle&lmode=&addr=&scoring=p
  10. nah thats not the brand of ram, hynix is just the chips. if anybody can find out, feel free to post.
  11. company name?i didn't get one, but my gf wanted one and got another laptop instead, will be something i can tell her to make her feel better about not getting it if it is indeed shit ram. she got one with 256 and going to upgrade the ram herself to some good stuff.
  12. you might be correct with that, probably spend a full days work time in the store trying to get stuff sorted out, i didn't get the laptop there, but 2 of the desktops, i had to come back twice and didn't get checked out until almost 11am, was the 3rd person in line and the aol system went down on me, then left, came back again, still down, left went to to other stores, came back again and they finally have the sense of oh, we can just credit and save the copy and send the info later to get all these pissed off people out of our store who have been here for 12 hours, which anybody else would have done as soon as it went down, then another hour to get checked out and pick up my computers.
  13. yep for multiple items likethe hard drive or blank dvds, always get seperate reciepts, then you can just send the rebates to a different person and address, has always worked for me, have many to do like that this year.
  14. exactly, i think most stores anyway have the right to refusal of sale built in to their clause, the stores i used to work with did. i could see walmart getting sued for some kind of neglect case. hell the staples here did not even have lights on outside, it was pitch black. i know thats a light code violation, if someone were to fall or get raped in their store hours they could easily be sued. would like to see an HRS worker up there with some of those babys...
  15. this is how i would do it if i were store director of cc or best buy, hand out tickets in line for the first 150 people about 3-4 hours prior to opening, if you arent there, sorry no ticket. post a sign on the window letting people know this is going to happen(if they can do it for xbox 360 being out, they can do some kind of warning for this) (later let them in at 5 minute intervals, 25 people at a time, starting 30 minutes prior to opening to give them time to get all they want) , vouchers handed out in orderly fashion asking each person by # what big ticket item they want, if somebody cut, doesnt matter, they won't have the #. rope it off for sure and have somebody make a line, call local police to tell them you will need help to do security, we used to do this at restaurants for same type crowds for events and they always gladly showed up, they are probably sitting around doing nothing somewhere else and would enjoy "doing" something that time of night to monitor any unruly people or line breaking, I don't see how all these stores don't have police. guess thats it.
  16. circuit city has a 1 year warranty on the laptop, what you worried about?
  17. if there is no rebate that printed out staples will almost always just credit that money to you automatically, have done it several times. so if you want it, ask the manager.
  18. yeah it sucks, but have seen worse, for example, I go to public auctions sometimes for seized vehicles, government stuff, etc.... there are plenty of deals to be had, but sometimes you will get an a$$hole dealer there with unlimited cash supply and buy almost every vehicle there, most however stick to dealer only auctions, outbidding anybody up to what he can sell the car for on a lot to the point of people leaving and just not bidding, then they start getting deals for hardly nothing, b/c everybody knows they are just going to get outbid, this happened particularly bad the last time i was at one, i've probably been to 40, but last time one dealer bought about 35 cars in a row. i'm sure plenty of people actually needed a car, and sit there and watch as a few poor familys trying to get a car for their kid or something walk out with nothing.
  19. no shopping like this until same time next year, after 14 straight hours of shopping including wait times, im done for awhile. still have lots of stuff in my car to unload.
  20. I too sometimes don't trust stuff like this, have done some of these crazy deals sometime to perfection only to find out rebate is no good.
  21. my guess is some stock boy with access put wood in it knowing it would probably get overlooked getting sold with all the ruckus going on and he'd be home free, or somebody had already returned it like that and got by, but could just be some guy doing a scam. bb should have atleast said they will investigate, or...he could have put it on an AMEX card, they would have took the charge off . as one poster said... it is kina common to do swap jobs like this with computer games and parts, lots of times they just restock it.
  22. it was on their home page, an hp/compaq, but see that they took it off now, sorry. you had to go to the store in order to do a business purchase order online from one of their computers, I am getting it mailed to me this week, its a pretty nice looking laptop, same celeron processor as the other two toshibas, but no wireless g, you could have added it for 29, to match the BB price. 14" widescreen, silver. also comes with a free hp photosmart printer. it was 349.99 after rebate, or 379.99, to have made it with wireless g, no aol sign up crap (you have to pay that back anyway, but I guess an advantage for some, not for me), already have several several cards laying around though so did not upgrade, priced accordingly for what its worth, most of the laptops were, such as toshiba at cc for 108 more after tax for 20 more gb, and 256 more ram, but imo don't really need more than 40gb on a laptop, thats what desktop servers and external hdds are for, and can upgrade the ram cheaper than what its installed for. I think my gf will be happy with it, its slimmer and lighter and all silver and has a widescreen style screen so dvd movies should look good on it. I'm sure it would have been discussed here more like the other laptops, but OD had to be taken off this site per legal requests.
  23. any idea if this will be available next year? if so I'll probably mail about 1000 of them to get 2000 dollars to spend, usually spend that much at best buy, and sure they will have stuff going on. edit, just read 300 per visit, so will do like you and do about 110-120 :)
  24. the dell, you could have ordered the hp/compaq one at awfice deepoh for 349 with similar specs though, im pretty sure they did not have a limit, you just had to do a purchase order online IN store. picked one of them up, 380 savings off price with free printer, has a 14" Widescreen.
  25. nope, its the same every year and they don't change, *could* they learn something and change it, sure, will they? no, I think its funny for some of the employees to see the people go crazy. 2 days ago here a guy got held at gunpoint for his xbox shortly after buying it, followed him from the store.
