  1. they are blind to how to prep then, or have all new management who was not there the previous BF, it is has been this many people for years here, yet still they have not figured it out, yes the lines started earlier this year, but I have seen just as many or more people in each of the prior 2 years. to the poster, you got there at 4, you shouldn't be dissapointed at all imho, please tell that to people getting there at 8pm the day before and still walking out empty handed.
  2. yeah i'll be going somewhere else next year no matter the deal, i might not always get my stuff, I'm dissapointed but not mad, that can't be controlled depending on what time other people get there, but customer service and organization CAN, which I was very mad and will effect me not to go there anymore. CC is crap for it in general compared to other retailers based on experience, best buy is very good and well organized I think for how large of crowds they get, office depot and staples are also always very helpful as well as compusa which gets pretty large crowds sometimes. This all comes down to training and preparedness coming down not just from store directors but from management higher up getting the people trained right, obviously from all this stuff posted something circuit city is not doing on a NATIONAL level.
  3. thats weird, they let us all leave with our vouchers about 5:30 and said we could come back, so we pretty much all left and went to another store shopping, they held our wireless routers in a lock cage, , i came back at 10:30 and checked out with my 2 desktops and kodak camera. i still agree though they did a very poor job of crowd control at my store, besides that the aol thing was nation wide.

    Talking In Line

i got to know the people around me pretty well and exchanged phone numbers with several people who we were all going to differnet stores and calling eachother telling and holding what they still had for eachother, pretty cool.
  5. left at 10pm last night got home at 11am today.
  6. somebody playing a dvd movie very loud that cut to an r rated sex scene. somebody here also brought a newborn baby at 11pm, then after a few hours decided it was a pretty bad idea and took them home. circuit city is no place to be on black friday for kids, much less trying to carry a baby through there.
  7. i heard 50 at 2 of the 3 walmarts here, not sure about the 3rd.
  8. what really also bugs me, is that at about 2:30 am, a circuit city employee that was stocking came OUTSIDE and assured everybody in line not to worry that there were FAR more than 15 laptops, somewhere around 45 or 50, so everybody stopped being so antsy and stayed, instead of trying to go to another store (3 walmarts, 2 staples, 2 office depots, etc where they could have 95% have recieved a laptop still from what i hear.) People were showing up at 5am at walmart here and still getting laptops. When the employees came out at 4:15 and started handing out the vouchers, and said there were only 15, I thought there was going to be a riot, the 15th person called the police on somebody breaking in line and got their voucher (they were there at 9:00pmish) and everybody said the person broke, but circuit city said there was nothing they could do, the manager got cussed out many many times and I think most of the people got the # and was planning on complaining.
  9. the toshiba is a better computer, not just a better deal, it has a better screen, 20gb more and faster hard drive and twice the ram. also..its a toshiba. you could get upwards of 600 dollars on ebay for the toshiba. but why not sale it to somebody at what you got it for who needs it, or give it as a nice gift?
  10. is anybody elses showing up as 40 dollars instead of 80?! i am doing the easy rebate online and keeps saying 40 dollars.
  11. i played with it in the store, spec wise it was better than any of the sub 400 laptops.
  12. my staples opened earlier than said time which pissed me off as its right next to circuit city and I was planning on the 5am one store 6am next store thing, got out at about 5:40 and staples was already open, ARG. they didn't even have more than 10 people waiting, but hell they got all the stuff and had other customers flooding in there by then.
  13. the front 10 people here who got vouchers locked hands and blocked off all the people trying to rush the door long enough for the first people in line to get in, was pretty cool b/c it was all planned out lol. good that there weren't any irrational people here up front trying to get vouchers, all crazy maybe for being camped out since thursday, but rational, atleast once told how it works and why it is correct, and a little bit of raising hell.
  14. I seriously considered doing this this year with as many items as possible, but talking to people and reading this board, I am giving them all to people who need them and friends and family at cost, and not resaling anything, my car is completely loaded with stuff, front seat, back seat, trunk until i cant see out the back or side. (i have several hdds and computers that i could easily turn a profit on) but wouldn't it make those few people have a happier christmas, or have their first computer?
  15. Our group at cc this year, lots of us see eachother every year and remember eachother from best buy/cc/compusas... would not let ANYBODY hold spots period in the first 50, each spot had to be represented physically by somebody in line, in the order they got there, but we of course let them leave to go use the bathroom etc. but the line never changed from 11pm-5am for the top 50. we made several people get out of line who attempted to let people in. I suggest you just do a little more standing up for yourself for whats fair, I know it might seem rude to do, but its not, its only fair and standing up for what is right, and the workers are not going to intervene themselves. Last year 2 hours prior to opening best buy roped it off and had several police officers, 0 police at circuit city this year.
  16. me and the lady in front of us told 3 people straight up to get out of line, and after talking a bit, they did. nobody cut for the computer vouchers, only to get in the store, i think they would have got killed. also a thing i liked best buy do a few years ago was only letting a few people in 20 at a time starting around 5:30, then 6am the registers opened with people in line. they let all the first people get everything they want, which is how it should be, not a madhouse to scramble for stuffinstead of letting all the people everywhere just come like crazy and get stuff people had been waiting in line however many hours from the day before not able to get.
  17. im going to sleep too, its friday noon now, i've been up since 6am thanksgiving morning... UGH
  18. toshiba laptop, .... and wireless keyboard/mouse (couldn't be bothered to search anymore for it)
  19. didn't get us anything, but i did get "2" of the emachines free desktop
  20. yeah i think every single person in the first 50 had chairs and there were about 3 dvd players sitting on car hoods going at the front of the store for people to watch. I also was wearing dress shoes as I was just scoping it out to see what was up, then going to go to compusa at 12, but I had to stay once I saw the crowd.
  21. the final laptop voucher was passed out here to somebody who got in line just after 9. so getting here at 9, would have just made it, best buy was worse, there were 15 people or so in line at 7:30
  22. very curious if ANY circuit city had more than there "minimum 15" as I think that is a bit decieving and gets peoples hopes up.
