  1. The only thing really on my dh's christmas list is an NBA League Pass so he can watch all the games on tv, but he will get that early as in next week since the season starts next Tuesday. We have cut down on gifts for each other this year as I just got my Mercedes early as my Christmas present:D but I am still going to pick up a few things for him like a new Coach wallet, bottle of cologne, DVD he wants, and a wireless ear thingie for his cell phone.
  2. I have no problem finding gifts for anyone else in my family but for my parents and grandmother. Both are people that will go out and buy what they want throughout the year, so they dont need anything. They dont really have any hobbies that they enjoy getting gifts for and I'm tired of getting gift certificates. So, give me some ideas. What is everyone buying for their parents/ grandparents?
  3. My dd is 12 and wants a new computer (getting her a laptop), Nintendo DS with games. That is mainly the only things on her list, the other things I am getting her will be boots that she wants, a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble as she loves to read and a few small minor things.
  4. I always have to have coffee to keep me awake. Luckily last year, after much begging though LOL, Best Buy agreed to open up their restrooms in the service area where new stereos and stuff are installed. Other than that, I brought my ads and a blanket to sit on or cover up with, but I stuff the blanket back in the car right before the store opens.
  5. Last year we were up at 2am and at Best Buy by about 230am and we were still about 30th in line. Luckily I was one of the last ones to get a laptop that I wanted, so I got there just in time. If I decide to go out this year (the only thing I *need* is a laptop for my daughter) then I will most likely get to wherever I am going sometime between midnight and 2am. Just trying to decide if I want to wait in line for 5 hours to save $100.

    WM Layaway

I guess Im confused too....so this must only be normal stuff that they always have in stock and no doorbusters as Ive heard that they dont put out the doorbusters until that morning or thanksgiving night? And how does it work with the price difference on black friday? Do you still have to go in and have it adjusted that day or will they do it automatically?
  7. Ive been sitting here considering whether I want to brave Walmart on Black Friday for their $398 laptop vs. the one at Dell for the same price, but I have to pay shipping. I have braved Best Buy the last few years for their laptops and other stuff and they arent so bad as they hand out the "coupons" in line for what people want so there is no fighting, grabbing, etc. going on once the doors open or Walmart unveils the pallets. Im assuming that Walmart doesnt hand out these coupons for any kind of order like Best Buy does. So anyone that has been to Best Buy and Walmart, can you compare the two? Is Walmart much crazier than Best Buy? I got to Best Buy last year at 2:30am and was about 30th in line. How does Walmart compare with the times that most people get there vs. how many computers they actually have in stock? I have always actually been impressed with the way Best Buy handles their sales, but I doubt that Best Buy is going to have the same deals on laptops that Walmart does. Thanks for any info!
  8. Darn...I was going to buy this for my daughter for Christmas as I was just looking at the one at Walmart for $398, but after Dell adds on the $49 shipping and $30 tax, its not worth it for me. I would rather wait in line on BF as I will be out anyway to save the extra $50. I can use the extra $50 to get her the wireless network card or wireless mouse to go with it. *sigh*
  9. Last year dh went with me to Best Buy and I bought his MP3 player while he was there. I sent him to one line to wait for something and I went and grabbed the MP3 player, took it to the register and paid for it while he was still waiting in the other line. Luckily that was small enough that I could fit it in my purse, but if you buy something that isnt small, purchase it and take it out to the car while you send him to another part of the store. Just make sure you tell him to not open the trunk, or cover the stuff with a blanket or something :)
  10. I got a nicely loaded 6000 for $777 plus tax so it came to $831 total. Will be nice to replace this hunker Compaq I have now. I got the Pentium 1.6 (this is the only thing im worried about as the one I have now is 2.0 and is still slow), XP Pro, 40GB hard drive, 512MB memory (saw the cheaper upgrade at newegg, but really dont want to deal with it) 24x CD burner/DVD, Adobe publish to PDF as I need this for work but currently have to pay the $9.99 subscription to adobe. Cant wait to get it :)
  11. Ok, Im confused. Someone please help before I explode! LOL The link Ross provided is for only 10% off which is only half of what the majority of the Delf coupons were. Ok, so it says stackable, but what do you stack it with? The description says only one coupon may be applied at checkout. So, whats this huge deal? and how can I get myself a new notebook for a really good price?
  12. Ok, this sale has been effective for 1 hour and 45min so far and no word yet! I'm DYIN' over here! LOL
  13. I have been waiting, waiting, waiting!!! In desperate need of a new laptop. Will be anxiously watching this board. Thanks!
  14. Luckily this year I only had 1 rebate form from Black Friday for the MP3 player I bought hubby...but I am still fighting Best Buy over a rebate for a delivery charge on some appliances I bought back in October as well as Letstalk.com for a rebate on phones I bought back in April! I DESPISE rebates!
  15. Ok, you had me all excited seeing this post in bold since I know that the current 20% coupon on laptops ends today. Only to open the thread and find out it was from months ago! Soooooo....you guys have any inside scoop on any codes that might be put out tomorrow...Dec. 9th? I need a new laptop and Im hoping that Dell wants to put out a big sale to get the last of their christmas shoppers in. :)

    BB $500 Laptop

I bought Best Buy's so-called warranty when I bought my Compaq there about a year and a half ago. After a few months, I sent them a letter and told them to cancel and send my money back. First, I've never had an issue with the battery...if I did, I'm positive I could find one online for cheaper than $250. Secondly, I had an issue when my hard drive crashed a few months after purchasing my laptop and had to restore it but which also meant I was going to lose all my data. Since I work at home my computer is essential to my paycheck and my side business. The only thing I needed was for someone to back up my hard drive for me as the last backup I had was about a month old onto a cd or something, something that would only take an hour or two as I have done it before myself. I called Best Buy and told them of my situation, of which they replied that I would have to leave the laptop for I think it was 3 days at that time and would have to pay for the backup. I understand that warranties cannot cover everything, but I was more upset about having to leave it for 3 days as I wouldnt be able to work. I think that Best Buy should have some kind of priority service for those who purchase these warranties. So, I promptly cancelled that warranty and will never buy another one from Best Buy again.
  17. We got to Best Buy at about 2:15am and were about 40th in line. I was shocked since last year we got there at 3:45am and were only about 25th in line. Luckily I got everything I wanted though.
  18. I'll be out all day today as well. I have to go to Sears and pick up a stereo for my daughter. The price is only $10 off the normal price so I dont think it would have been a popular item that would have sold out. I also have to go furniture shopping for a dining room table for our new house since we dont have one yet and looking for a bed as well for my daughter for Christmas. Will probably hit Target to finish up Christmas shopping for my daughter and pick up some wrapping paper and minor things while Im there.
  19. I was at Best Buy at 2:15 am and about 40th in line. After they passed me, I believe the guy only had 2 or 3 laptops left. I was in line last year at 3:45 and only 25th back, but I figured I'd try to get up closer to the door this year...boy was I wrong LOL But yes, with Best Buy, you need to get there super early. People were lining up at 9:30pm last night at the door.
  20. Thanks....its nice to know that I bought a good camera. I was debating between that one or the 5megapixel at OfficeMax with the free battery charger for the same price, but being that I was stuck in Best Buy for so long I didnt think that Office Max would have any left by the time I got there so I just bought the Kodak. From your reviews, I'm sure I'll be pleased with it. My old digital camera is one I bought when they first came out thats 1.3 megapixel LOL Time for an upgrade.
  21. I only made it to one store this morning. Last year I got to Best Buy at 3:45 and was about 25th in line. I got up at 1:45 am and got to Best Buy at about 2:15 to be about 40th in line. I was shocked. It was colder here in florida as well than usual at about 50 degrees so we all froze. I ran in to get the 79.99 MP3 player for dh while he headed over to the computer line. Stood in that line for about an hour and a half to get our laptops. Ran over to the camera dept to pick up the Kodak digital camera for my Christmas, then had to stand in the checkout lane for about an hour as well as they had it weaved throughout the entire store about. We left Best Buy at 9:15 and I was home at 9:30. Needed to also go to Sears for a stereo for my daughter and possibly Target, but never got there...will have to go tomorrow. From standing for so many hours, my back and legs were killing me so I didnt think I could take much more. But I got everything I went after at Best Buy.
  22. Good morning all. I havent posted, but have been browsing the ads and messages on this site for about a month. I am sitting here this morning scanning the ads, but I need to be at Best Buy and Office Max at the same time. My husband is going with me, but I cant have him pick up the things because some of the items are for his christmas. Im wondering if OfficeMax gives out tickets at the door like Best Buy does? Do you think that if I get to Office Max at about 6:30am after I run into Best Buy that they would have anything left? Ive only been to Best Buy before and never OfficeMax. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving all. :)
