  1. My parents are impossible to buy for! They are the ones that just go out and buy whatever they want, do not really go out to eat, dont have any hobbies and my mother is not real girly to wear makeup, or like beauty things. I was thinking of making them up a gift basket this year (either one big one together or individual ones), but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to put in it! My step father does like to fish, but he has enough fishing supplies that he could open his own store! I was thinking of adding some household things for my mother like towels, smelly things, etc. but I also wanted to add some personal things. Does anyone have any ideas on what to put in this basket? Gift cards wont really help either since they would have to be small demoniations and thats just not worth it. I'm trying to keep it under $50-60 combined. Thanks!
  2. He plays video games...how about some different ones, or any new accessories for his playstation? Gift cards to his favorite store like Best Buy or something where he can save it until there is something that he wants throughout the year? Does he have any favorite foods or snacks? My dh loves nuts so Im getting him a large gift box of nuts. Hopefully this gives you some ideas.
  3. I bought this tv this morning with the 10% off coupon through Circuit City and am VERY excited! I wont be going out for BF this year since I dont need anything else, but the tv is going to be delivered to me on Friday! I was going to head to CompUSA today to buy it for $1299.99 there as today was the last day of the sale, so I'm SO glad I checked here first! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Brad and Ross for keeping the site so updated! This is an early Christmas present for my hubby and he will be out of town through Sunday, so I plan on having it all setup and surprising him when he comes back home on Sunday night! Cant wait!!!!
  4. how is it? I've always done the Best Buy/ Walmart stores on BF and if you werent in line at 10pm the night before, you didnt get anything. However, I'm wondering if Sears is the same way? Anyone that has done Sears doorbuster? Do they give out tickets? Is there huge lines that start the night before, or could I actually get in line about 3-4am and still get something? Right now, I'm interested in one of their tv's. Thanks!
  5. Thank you! That helps alot! :)
  6. I may be in the market for a wall mounted, flat screen tv this year for my husband, but I know nothing about TV's and my husband will be away on BF, so I'm going this alone. Before I get to the stores, I was wondering if someone could give me a brief lesson on them. I guess I'm mainly confused about the difference between HDTV, LCD, Projection, Plasma, etc. So, which one of those is the best or which one should I buy? What about size when it comes to those wide screens? What size in a wide screen would be comporable or bigger than the plain old 32 inch tv I have now? And the last question is, with tv's on black friday, are they ones that are doorbusters and sell out within 5 minutes of the door opening so I would have to spend hours in line just for a tv, or are tv's something that I could get there after the mad rush, like late morning and still get one? I dont know how popular TV's are on BF because I've never needed one before. Thanks for any help! Still debating whether I want to go out on BF just for a TV, but based on opinions here and determining if the few hundred $$ price cut is worth it, I'll make a decision.
  7. Wow, I was so spoiled this morning So far i've gotten: Coach bag Gucci sunglasses David Yurman bracelet Robotic Vacuum $75 in Target gift cards Large gift basket of Godiva chocolate Lazy susan set of plastic tupperware like containers Home Interiors Candle Bottle of chilean wine still have gifts yet to get from one set of friends and my grandmother
  8. My dd is 12, so she knows we are santa now LOL All presents get wrapped and are already under the tree. We dont have any special gifts that get put out at the last minute.
  9. It stays right around 76 most of the time. I live in Florida and like it warm! LOL
  10. We used to go to church before we moved from our old house, but being that our old church is an hour away, we dont go anymore. We never found a new church new our new home and I havent really been that interested in seeking a new one out. I did always enjoy the christmas services though.
  11. Hmmm, probably my daughters laptop computer from black friday for $379. I got some really good deals on other things too like my husbands bluetooth headset for $10 that retails for $50 and I got some things free after gift certificates that I earned, but the item that I saved the most on would have to be the computer.
  12. All done shopping and all wrapped Dh finished up shopping for me yesterday as well (even though I told him I didnt want anything else) and wrapped it all too, so all we are doing now is waiting for Santa
  13. I just came from one of the Best Buys in Orlando as I had to get a gift card and there were already 9 people camping out at about noon here. I wish I could buy one to resell to make back some money for Christmas, but there's no way Im camping out for close to 24 hours for one!
  14. You dont know any better than to not buy knockoffs which are illegal and rip offs of a company's image?? Im not trying to brag on myself, but I dont understand why someone would want to buy a fake. If you want that look, then buy a legal replica or something similar, dont help to support ripping off a company's image just so you can act like you have a high end designer bag.
  15. I think gift cards are find for Secret Santas. We have them at work too and both people dh and I got wanted gift cards. What I did was buy the gift card and put it in a little red decorative bag with some tissue paper and a dangly ornament from the handle to give it some interest instead of just opening a card. Its only like another $2 or so to buy a bag and an ornament.
  16. Being that its just me, dh and dd, we do it one at a time so we can tell stories of why the person would like it, what we thought of when buying it, etc. and everyone can see what the other got. We go to a friends house on Christmas afternoon and its such a frenzy with everyone ripping things open all at once that its no fun and you can never see what each other received.
  17. Why would anyone want to buy cheap knockoffs? People who dont know any better will say that they look just the same, but they really dont. A true collector of designer items can spot a fake a mile away and just looks silly. I collect Gucci bags and I cant imagine carrying a fake. It kinda defeats the purpose of knowing that you own a high end peice of merchandise that will last forever. I could just never understand why people want to buy fakes. There are plenty of legitimate bags that you can get at Macy's and such that look just like LV's or whatever designer you are after that run in the same style, but arent illegal knockoffs!
  18. 100% of my Christmas it put on my credit card, but it is paid off by the time the bill is due in January with our December pay checks and bonuses. The only reason I put everything on the credit card is because I get nice rewards back from Discover :) Just this past month, I got $43 back as the percentage of what I have spent. I can then either decide to put that towards the bill, or I can get something for myself that I wanted by didnt get for Christmas
  19. My dh hates to get clothes for Christmas so I dont buy him any, but my dd is a pre-teen and is starting to enjoy clothes, so I bought her just one outfit this year. So, less than 25% of the things I buy are clothes.
  20. I have 2 dogs that are totally spoiled and get a bunch of Christmas gifts as well LOL I think they have about 5 gifts under the tree this year. Bones, cookies and toys. I have probably spent about $40 on those. I also buy for our friends 2 dogs that mine play with and I will get each of them a candy cane bone, so another $10-20 or so for them. My dogs are my kids too so I like to spoil them as well with things
  21. My daughter is 12 and I also fill a stocking for my dh. Some of the things I have included are: 1) Magazine subscription notice..then I go out and buy the current issue of the magazine and tie it up with a bow with the subscription notification. 2) Socks 3) Eyeglass repair kits and/or box of pre-moistened cleaners they can keep with them. 4) Razor blades, cologne, after shaves, etc. 5) Candy 6) Gift cards (like $10 or so) to McDonalds, Chick Fil A, etc. I also like the idea of batteries for their gifts or other small accessories that might go with something. I actually buy most of my stocking stuffers at the Dollar Tree, then supplement with a few things from Walgreens or CVS.
  22. Christmas morning....being that my dd and dh only have about 4 gifts to open each plus their stockings (everything they wanted was expensive this year LOL), we like to keep everything for Christmas morning. We will be out at a Christmas party Christmas Eve night, so we wont be home to open gifts anyway :)
  23. I agree in this fact OP that you were indeed scammed over and that is certainly not nice in how you were treated due to miscommunication or employees that didnt know how to do their job. Im another Home Depot hater and will head to Lowes whenever I can to purchase the same item. I have been screwed over numerous times by Home Depot, much less had to deal with rude and incompetent employees in the store. I do mystery shopping as a hobby and its amazing (at least in my area) to see the difference between Lowes that does hire shoppers and the helpfulness and friendliness in their employees vs. Home Depot who doesnt hire shoppers and see the way they treat customers. Keep on them to get what you rightfully deserve.
  24. My dream gift that I wanted was a new Gucci bag that I fell in love with...but being that its $1,000 and dh has other things in mind for me then I settled for a Coach LOL I picked it out, but it is currently sitting under the tree waiting for Christmas morning.
