  1. I'm so sorry to har that ajogg. I'm sure that has to be super hard, not only being so new and fresh but also at this time of year. I hope that you have some sort of support system at home. Please feel free to post here if needed. Hate the thought of others going through rough times as well, especially if they don't have anyone else to talk to.

    Holiday Blues

Posting to see if anyone else is suffering this year so maybe we can have our own thread to sympathize with each other amid all the other festive threads. Don't want to make it a pity party, but it's always nice to know you aren't alone, so if anyone else is going through a tough time, feel free to post. As well, if anyone has any ideas on how to beat these, please post. Just can't seem to make myself get out to do anything fun or Christmas-y. It's the first holiday without my daughter (only child) as she moved away this past spring to the other side of the country. I'm also an only child and as such, only have my mother left to my family. So I really don't even get the joy anymore in Christmas shopping for my DD since she only wants money sent to her. In addition, I was just laid off of my job a month ago so any shopping or even participating in Black Friday this year is extremely limited and I have to make sure that any events don't cost much anyway. I wish I had the comfort and support of my boyfriend as well, but he has his own family with kids, parents and siblings that he makes plans with. I could certainly attend those events or even other friends invites, but nothing like feeling like a 3rd or 5th wheel in the room to help (NOT!) with the blues. If anyone else is feeling alone this time of year, please post and let's help each other!
  3. Since I live in Florida, my tree is beach themed Aqua blue and clear/ white ornaments, white lights, silver ribbon, fake palm fronds and white starfish. Wrapping paper matches and I usually get blue or silver themed papers.
  4. Tried to get the $249 iPad at Walmart (online) last night for my mom but was sold out. Figured I'd try again this morning at 8am without any sort of expectation that they would still be available but I was able to get one of the last 2 for pickup today! Unfortunately on Target's website, things were selling out as fast as I was adding things to my cart. Tried to get the $10 appliances and the Google Home mini but every time I returned to my cart, they were gone. Just wound up with 1 game for my DD on Target which was still half price and was able to go to Best Buy to get the google home mini for the same price, still with a $10 gift card! Still looking for some cheap appliances for my daughter and her first apartment she just moved into, but have some time to continue to search. Only other purchases were good deals at Victoria's Secret, a Sephora gift card purchase and a handbag for the DD as well. Getting ready to head out soon to pickup a few small items.
  5. Thanks, but what I meant was when there was more than 1 person to buy for. Of course I know my daughter is family, but when we get up on Christmas morning, it's only her that opens gifts so it's not the same as having multiple people waiting to open gifts at the same time that it has to be more organized and share the time to see what each other received.
  6. I bought a Dyson previously and didn't like it because of the construction of the very front whereas it moves up and down, so if you have thick carpet or rugs, it was really, really hard to push. I have a plush rug in my bedroom and I couldn't even vacuum it with the dyson because the front of the vacuum kept pushing down as I pushed the vacuum forward and not allowing it to be pushed. Kinda hard to relate in text instead of actually seeing it, but in any case I just bought a Shark Rocket that's great! After watching the informercial and reading the reviews, people rave about it! Much cheaper than a Dyson, bagless, doesn't lose power, is lightweight and it can be transformed into a hand vac from the upright or stick which is what I bought. The Shark is $199 online, but Bed Bath and Beyond had it on sale for $189 and you can use the 20% off coupon on it, so a really good deal. Check out reviews on Amazon.com which is where most of the reviews are.
  7. It's really just me and my daughter now, so she is the one who gets all the gifts on Christmas morning, but its still organized. I will give them to her one at a time to open, talk about the item, enjoy it for a few minutes and then move onto the next. I also give them to her in a certain order, like starting with the smallest first and working up to the biggest most expensive gift. When I had a family, it was still organized with doing one at a time so each person could see what each other got.
  8. What an adorable tree! Even if I had a white tree, I don't think I ever would have thought of that. Super cute!! My tree is beach themed. Silver, clear and aqua blue balls and decorations, white bleached starfish, and blue ribbon cascading down the tree. Of course I'm debating whether I even want to put up a tree this year. Just not in the Christmas spirit.
  9. Been buying more than I expected to so far this morning lol Petco - treats, bones and toys for dogs. Done! Victoria's Secret - bought yesterday due to early access. A lot of items since I was able to stack 5 coupons together and had a credit on my Angel card, so practically free Teavana - gift set for my daughter for the tea that she likes, a travel infuser, sugar, travel tin Newegg - tv mount for the new tv I'll be getting for Christmas. Great deal at $16.99 with free shipping. Cheaper than I've seen anywhere else. Previously bought the tv earlier at Sams last weekend due to the same deal they are having now Express - jeans, sweater, tops all 50% off Still debating on another Victoria's Secret order for pajamas for my daughter. Will also still be going out later tonight to hit BBW and maybe Target or Best Buy
  10. Morning all, Happy Thanksgiving. Quick question: Online you cannot stack the tote deal with any other coupons. Do you know if you go into store if you can stack them to get the tote deal and the $$ off and/or the free item coupon in the same transaction? Debating whether to order online or go out later tonight. Thanks.
  11. Awesome, thanks so much! Great! Glad that it's a welcomed gift. I'm sure my daughter will get a kick out of it
  12. Wonder if someone remembers this, but I tried to do a search unsuccessfully. I believe it was last year? Someone had the idea to put together a calendar as a gift to someone and include month appropriate gift certificates inside. My daughter is being very indecisive this year and I thought this might be a good idea to get a bunch of small gift certificates instead of just giving her a plain ole gift certificate to somewhere or money. It was something like, for the month of January, a gift certificate for ??, Feb would have been a gift cert to a candy store maybe for valentines day, another month was a movie gift cert, a month specific to a specialty restaurant if a certain type of food day falls in that month, etc. Does this sound familiar to anyone, and/or any ideas on what kinds of gift certificates could be for each month? Jan- Feb- candy store for valentines day? Mar- Apr- May- taco bell or similar for cinco de mayo? June- July- Aug- Sept- starbucks for national coffee day Oct- Nov- Dec-
  13. Just shop as normal and input the offer codes at checkout. Make sure to pay with your Angel card. Someone listed them above or you should have also received an email with the offers.
  14. I was wondering too, but when I went to the site, their current sale ends today. I would imagine that the tote and BF sales may start tomorrow sometime.
  15. For Angel card holders, if you are trying to use other Angel rewards with the BF deals, just login to a live chat session and they'll help! This morning I got the free tote, 50% off second bra, free November panty, $15 off my order and free shipping! 5 offer codes all stacked together!! You usually have to place the order but then if you give the order # to the chat rep, they can adjust it for you and send an updated order confirmation. Extremely happy with the VS service this morning!!
  16. I have the Angel card too but haven't gotten the email yet. They must send them out in spurts. There are a few things I'm looking at, but might be more worth it to just wait for the semi-annual sale in January.
  17. Yes, I'm right there with you. Even tried to start going to our Festival of Trees this past weekend to get inspired and that didn't help either. I'm not sure if there is any solid reason that I'm not into it this year as I also usually love to decorate, shop, etc. and can't wait to get my stuff out, but this year it just feels like too much hassle and more work than its worth. My daughter is 21 years old, my relationship with my boyfriend is on the rocks and the only other family I have is my mother that I see regularly anyway so the holidays are really not special anymore. I'm already ready for it to be over and get back into summer. LOL
  18. Stockings can get expensive quick to fill if you start buying a lot of different things so I usually hit our largest Dollar Tree here and stock up on things like toiletries, candy, small gifts, socks, etc. I might top it off with something cheap like a $10 gift card to a fast food place or something but for the most part, I spend the bulk of my money on real gifts. My daughter also usually loves to get all sorts of toiletries and such because it saves her from having to buy any for a while!

    Ulta

I received a catalog in the mail yesterday that goes through 11/30. Did anyone else get theirs yet? I don't recall shopping much at Ulta on BF before but wondering if they will come out with something else or if this is it? A few good things worth a trip later on in the day, but I didn't see anything earth shattering.
  21. I'm loving some things in the WM ad this year, but I still refuse to go and stand in line hours ahead of time with all the loonies in my area that hang around WM lol Most of my WMs are not in very nice areas. I guess I can only hope to get a deal online or find something comparable elsewhere.
  22. Bath and Body Works, Ulta, Hobby Lobby and Victoria's Secret. Those are the ones I am anxiously waiting on, although any new ads are certainly welcome in case I see something else that I just have to have LOL or to find a good deal on a gift for someone that I haven't figured out what to buy for yet.
  23. Thanks for the confirmation all. Shame that they don't do more for BF when they are the only ones who have some of the things I need for projects I am working on! I hate their normal coupon policy. Was hoping they would at least come out with a general coupon that could be used on an entire purchase or more than just 1 per person, so will have to just see what I can do.
  24. 1. Estimated to be around $1k. This is a combination of gifts and other things for myself that Ive been holding off on to get a good deal on. 2. So far, my list is about 6 different stores. May increase as more ads come out 3. Same. I try to get as much done as I can online, but will also still go out to the stores as well.

    Overstock

I've seen previous years Overstock ads that they put certain items on sale, but any intel on what kind of coupons they offer on BF, or even Cyber Monday? Their usual is about 10-12% off, but would like to hold out to see if it gets better soon. Thanks.
