It's getting closer! We were just talking strategy earlier today. Wondering if WM was going to be my usual main stop since our location is no longer price matching. Some have said they usually bring it back for black friday. I will have to see.

I hadn't shopped at Kmart for quite a while, then one day I decided to go and look for a certain brand of pants that my daughter likes to wear and I didn't know who else carried them. While I was there I happened upon a clearance sale on their nfl clothing and they had tons of Green Bay stuff!!!! Woohoo!! I was able to get my hubby, my daughters and myself shirts, shorts, hoodies, pajamas, socks, etc. for about 70-80% off. I was ecstatic. Even ran to another location to find more. It was a happy day! Now we're all set for football season.

WM just discontinued price matching on June 12th in my area (Southern CA). How is this going to affect our Black Friday Shopping????

It's nice when black Friday coincides with actual items that are needed. We are planning on moving sometime next year so I don't want to buy much now because I don't know what I will actually need. Next year I may have quite a list.

I was looking into getting a new phone with the $250 gift card as well. My daughter needs a phone, so I will get the new one and give her mine.

I like the cell phone charger idea and some sort of fanny pack or bag. I usually wear a fanny pack when shopping, easy access and safe. Also, my phone always goes dead before I'm done shopping. OOhhh.....how about some sort of GD dog tags or something we could wear to identify ourselves as GottaDeal.com shoppers!

I agree with most of the article. Black Friday is supposed to be just that Black FRIDAY! They have cut out the excitement by adding the online sales and opening earlier and earlier on Thursday. The whole excitement was having Thursday with your family and then braving the cold in the wee hours of the morning to get those door busters. Nowadays it's like putting an animal in a cage to hunt. No sport! It would be so cool if they went back to the old way. No online orders, no opening on Thursday, stand in line to get your deals, etc.

Usually, I just budget several hundred dollars at the begining of the year. This year I have a few new ways-I have been saving up my walmart savings catcher monies, I also joined ibotta, and a couple other grocery rebate apps. I have been saving those funds as well. I also have points on my cc that allow me to get gift cards. Oh and e-bates too!

The workers at bath and body works told me they were going to be open from 6pm to midnight on thanksgiving day and then would be reopening at 6am on Friday. If this is true I wonder if they are going to do their sales differently.

I think it just depends on the off name brands. In a lot of products, the name doesn't mean much anymore. Most brands use each others' parts, etc. anyway. I have an off brand 42" flat tv that I purchased 3 years ago on black Friday. Very inexpensive at the time. Love it. It has never given me any problems. Good picture and sound. I may replace it this year only because I want a bigger one. I will definitely give the off brands a chance. You can always take them back to the store if it totally sucks. If you can you can try to go to a store and see the product in action.
