Happy, happy February! Our weather can't seem to make up it's mind. One day 78°, one day 63°. Gonna catch pneumonia, lol. Started remodeling project on master bedroom (at least the contractor did.. ). Can't wait for that to be done! We made it to the playoffs, but not the superbowl - GO PACK GO! There's always next year! Still going over friend's house to watch the superbowl. Other than that...not much going on. See you next month.

Checking in for January from California. Crazy wildfires going on all over. Fires are over 100 miles from us, but they shut off power in a bunch of different areas. My sister's power was off for 2 days.

Ok, posting for December...so far so good, lol. Didn't really buy much for black friday...nothing really got my interest. Received my lovely t-shirt! It is so cool.

Ok, I'm going to try again this year, lol. It's terrible when you put it on your calender and you still don't do it! Getting old sucks.

I use a select few savings sites. I use fetch to scan any and all receipts to earn points towards gift cards. They have bonuses, etc at different times. Points seem to add up really quick and you don't have to select items. Then I use Ibotta for grocery and other items. They always heve different bonuses. Right now is free thanksgiving dinner where you get free or better dinner items. They are also having a select your bonus where you can get up to $40 for scanning items in Nov. $$ add up. I have made 100's of $$. My newest addition is capital one shopping. They offer various %'s in rebates at various shopping sites. I've gotten up to 35% back on a purchase. They had a really good referral bonus last year. $75 per person. I made $300. $$ can add up really quick. Some offers take 30 days to post. Not a huge selection of gift cards for stores I personally shop at. I'm in the $3k club on this one. The last one I use is king-size rewards program. It costs $16.95 per month, but I make about $100 per month. You get 10% and shipping back on purchases from their brands (even if you use your gift card to get it for free) and 5% and up to $10 shipping back for purchases made at other stores. They have almost every store you can think of and some you wouldn't even expect on their list. There is a max of $1,000 in rewards from other stores, I usually max out. You either scan and turn in receipt or forward email confirmation to claim. You receive gift cards for purchase of their brands. My husband is 6'6" so we like their clothes, but they can be expensive. I buy me and hubby matching pajamas (just order a smaller men's size for me, lol). I also love their cardigan sweaters and everday skirts (woman within). Gift cards work great. I combine them with a sale. Right now I'm sitting on $450 in gift cards. I think they have a very generous program. My strategy is to make each purchase count towards 2 or more of these at one time. Plus there is the Sam's cash back on my Sam's credit card, which is the only card I use. So actually at least 3 cash back credits for each purchase. I make about $60 per month on Sam's card.

I'm just kind of winging it. The only thing I could think of is an outdoor movie projector. Want to look up specs to see what would work well outside.

This is the first time, besides during the pandemic, that my sister and I did not go out ANYWHERE on black friday. I sat home and watched football. This was for a combination of reasons...I too am at a stage where I don't need a lot, but I still managed to make quite a few purchases, but it was easier and less expensive to do so online. I can calculate discounts, cash back offers, rebates, etc from home and get free shipping. With the month long sales and lack of paper ads it's easier to do at your computer. If macys would have had their free items like they used to, I probably would have went out, lol.

One of the best deals I got was energizer max batteries at home depot. I searched for the best price...Sam's Club was the lowest per battery price. Then they went on sale at home depot for black friday AND home depot sent me a 10% coupon they said wasn't good with other offers....but it was. Made theirs the best deal I could find.

I'm a die hard desk topper, lol. I used to work for a municipality and helped supervise IT. I learned a lot and built my last 2 computers myself. I too tend to build with the highest specs I can afford and keep for about 10 years. I have been retired for some years now so I don't feel comfortable building myself, but I am going to have one custom built with the specs I want. I am going to set up 3 monitors. I can't wait. I don't even game, lol. Lots of calculations, spreadsheets, document design, of course bill paying, taxes, household use, etc. I just prefer a desktop. I'm also a little geeky, going for minimum 32GB ram this time. Also, doing it while hitting the best deals, cash back, etc. I bought a laptop some time ago, rarely even use it. Once in a blue moon when I am sick and can't get out of bed I remote in to my desktop, lol.

I agree, the ads seemed pretty lackluster. I wasn't looking for a whole bunch, but if the ads would've been more exciting I probably would have bought more than I originally intended, lol. I made them more exciting by piling on rebates and cash back offers to get an even better deal. One of my great deals was a kitchenaid 5.5qt lift bowl mixer for net $172! My goal was to break $200. That made it a little more exciting.

Ok, so I found my husband's waterpik and my sonicare at Kohl’s. I put them in my cart and waited for $15/50 Kohl’s cash. We were also looking for heavy duty folding chairs. I did a search online and found them on sale at....Kohl’s. With Kohl’s cash and rewards!!! SCORE Gonna use the Kohl’s cash to get replacement heads for waterpik and sonicare. Yahoo.

Am I missing something or did they just add four goofy items to their sale?
-
Ok, I just saw Wal-Mart's black Friday ad online.... I'm going to bed now. Totally unimpressed. Nothing I was actually looking for. They say a few more items will be revealed later. I'm not holding my breath.
-
Maybe because there was not much that was very exciting in the early sales it seems so much later this year?
-
They are really taking their time this year, aren't they?
-
I wish they'd hurry up already! I am really curious to see what will be in the next ad.

I remember one year we were waiting in line out in the freezing cold at walmart. Police would drive up and down the line so people wouldn't cut in line and remain orderly. All of the sudden my sister and I hear people arguing. A pregnant lady was yelling at someone. A fight broke out and the police came and arrested some folks, including the pregnant woman. Wow, they couldn't even wait until they got IN the store to start fighting!

Ok, this is a good gift for my daughter. She is special needs and wants a keyboard to use with her tablet. I thought backlit would be good to help her see in low light. Also it has the touchpad so she won't have to use a separate mouse. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYZQKW5T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I need more ads..... I've gotten all I want from the ads so far....need more to look at so I can get my "shop" on, lol

I got the 2 monitors I wanted, with extended service plan. I got on at 9am (CA) for early access. At first it wouldn't let me add plan, then it said only 3 left (that might have been in store). When I readded with plan I selected shipping. Order went through in a breeze. That was pretty much all I wanted from this sale.

I can't remember a specific deal that was memorable, but what I do remember is how no one could hang with me and my sister on Black Friday. For years it was just her and I. We would get up in the wee hours of the morning and meet at Denny's for breakfast. Than we would get a hot chocolate-to-go. We would then wait outside in line at walmart from about 4am until they opened at 6am. From there we would hit up 5 or six or seven more stores before stopping for lunch (or breakfast #2). Then we would hit a few more stores before finally heading home. Since we live in two different towns, sometimes we would each even hit up a few of our local stores on the way home. It wasn't unusual for us to get home at about 3 or 4 pm. We had a blast. Then other people would want to come with us. I guess they wanted to see what all the hype was about. First it was my son, then my daughter-in-law, then my daughter when she got older. They each only went one time. They were worn out before we even got started. They declared we were crazy and never again asked to accompany us. Then we were back to the two of us....and we like that just fine.
