  1. Try Wal Mart, Micheal's (it's a craft store) or Joanne's (Joanne Fabrics) all three have locations in those areas, and all three carry the cricut.
  2. Longs Drugstore is supposed to have one free after rebate, but I haven't been there to check it out personally.
  3. I would check Claires. And Mervyns--they usually have a lot of jewelry sales going on this time of year, and you can get some good deals. I've bout earrings at both places for DD.
  4. We looked at this in several different Target stores last week, compared it to others and decided to buy it. It's perfect for us--and our DD will be thrilled!
  5. I had to push a little, but got the price adjustment. I'd say this policy is on the way out...I'll have to keep that in mind for next year.
  6. THANK YOU to LovestoShop...I went to Target to do a price adjustment for a TV I purchased just before Black Friday. The Customer Service clerk said I don't think we do that...my response was I think you do and I can print an email and bring it to you if I have to...not necessary she said. And refunded my $142!!! I am soooo happy. So thanks again for sharing your Target email!
  7. I've always given DD (now 13) clothes as part of her Christmas gifts...and she gets socks at my Dad's house in her stocking there. (My Mom always put socks and unders in our stockings. I dont do the unders, but everyone gets socks...in a way it makes Mom part of our Christmas every year, even though we lost her nearly 7 years ago.) The clothes are wrapped gifts and she's always enjoyed them. Now that she's older, she really loves American Eagle. And I don't love the price tags, although she's enough of a deal hunter to start at the sale rack in the back. So, yes I give clothes as gifts.
  8. Sorry for the delayed response, we were doing Thanksgiving :-) In any case I bought "hipster" jeans, one pair for $29 one for $19 then used the 20% off, and the undies were also on a special deal....5 pairs for $20, then the additional 20%. The aeire gift set is a freebie. The jeans were size 0 long, but I think the price was the same for all sizes. And I was a little off on the total, I read the line before sales tax, with the tax $59, which is still a great deal to me. And I don't have to go to the mall and get them.
  9. Yeah! 5 pair of undies, 2 pair of jeans, aerie gift set all delivered to me for free...total $55. I'm happy. THANKS!
  10. Well, since not going doesn't seem to be an option, how about spending your time interacting with the people you enjoy--even if that means you spend your time talking/interacting with your immediate family. I have a great Aunt and great Uncle (not married to each other) who didn't speak to each other for years...not one word. They both showed up to large family events, they just didn't interact. And frankly, no one really paid much attention. So just don't interact with the bothersome folks. If the gatherings are small enough I suppose someone might notice, but heck your DD was seriously ill, obviously you all need some extra time together. If you feel you need to attend these events, well just have that time together in some other living room. Pack some board games if you have to, or drawing paper, etc. And remember your newspaper, after all they don't need to know you already have Black Friday planned.
  11. Oh My! I am so glad your DD is ok. Since I don't know how avoidable deer are on a gravel road, I can't much comment on how accountable she should be. But even accidents have impacts...and a part time job to help you manage that sounds reasonable to me.
  12. Every store I've checked has the same price (within a quarter or so). So, Nordstroms is where I would buy them--really easy returns in case the sizing isn't right.
  13. Oops, forgot to mention that if you have specific books in mind they have "locator" note books that can tell you which shelf and section to find your the books. They are fairly thick (think phone book) and fiarly small print, but they can be a lifesaver if you need specific titles. I didn't find out about these until last year, it saved me a lot of time for the few specific titiles I wanted.
  14. I have been going to theses sales for years and no one has ever asked how I "qualify". And if someone did I'd say volunteer. Because I do...for the PTA, Girl Scouts, Church. Or homeschooler. Because I do...just not full time, but DD is always interested in something they aren't teaching. Really, I think it's just a cover line as an earlier poster mentioned. Don't forget tissues--it can be really dusty, not dirty, but enough to drive my allergies nuts. And they have books for all ages, not just childern. Lots of cook books, gift books, some non fiction for adults. Klutz kits, some American Girl stationary items (no doll items), posters. Watch the computer items to make sure they are current (a friend forgot to check and couldn't use the software she bought). Typically they have a lot of Harry Potter items, they publish the books in the US. Journals, pens, books, etc. Have Fun!
  15. If you have pets, the Fosters and Smith pet food is on clearance, they are not going to carry it any longer. I really recommend this pet food--we mail order it for our Standard Poodle. Really good quality, no problems. And if you need advice, the people at Fosters and Smith are great. I saw that cat food at our local Target for 50% off--endcap at the back of the pet aisle.
  16. Yahoo! The travel magazines DH's cousin wanted are on the list. Another gift off the list! THANKS!
  17. I wouldn't take the sleeping pills, they might cause side effects or not wear off. Lots of OJ, cool car, singing all seem like doable suggestions...and go to sleep asap after work. Let your cousin's joy of being with you and the excitment of Black Friday take care of the rest :-)
  18. Target had Waverly towels on clearance last week (not sale), so you might want to check in your local store. The bath size were $3.98 and we love them.
  19. Scholastic Warehouse has a couple of different sales throughout the year--generally half off, and they have "tubs" where all the books are $1, $3 or whatever. Check those out carefully--especially if it's a "kit" type item, they parts can come loss from the many item. And check any computer items to make sure it will run with your operating system, a friend bought a couple that were very out of date and she couldn't use them. I love this sale!
  20. Our DD is now 13, but when she was younger I bought a lot of toys from hearthsong. I'd really recommend them.
  21. Try a Scholastic Warehouse sale if you live near one...here's a link: http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/events/warehouse/ They really let anyone in, and don't forget to sign up for a Fast Pass--it will save you time at the sale and money. I've bought tons of books there over the years--and gift items, too. They ususally have the Klutz kits, American Girl stuff (stationary not dolls), cookbooks, etc. Just remember it is a warehouse, and it can be a little cold and dusty. Not dirty, but concrete floors, lots of shelving, it all adds up to dusty.
  22. Picked up a screened in tent thingy (sorry not a big camper) It looks like an ez up with screen walls...it was $25. If DD's Girl Scout troop doesn't need, my sister wants it. For that price, I knew one of them would want it ;-) Dollar Spot was really popular--not on clearance, but some cute 'stuff'. Baby's First Christmas Stockings, baby holiday tees, bibs, some soft toys, holiday socks, holiday mittens all in infant/toddler sizes. They were really cute! I picked up some headbands for DD and some hair barrettes, too. The $1 was so much cheaper than those fancy clips usually go for, I was happy.
  23. DD is in middle school, so 7 teachers and the office staff--it adds up fast! We make peppermint bark--white melting chips (Wilton) from Micheal's, peppermint oil (just a couple of drops, it's strong) and candy canes that have been ground up in the food processor. I put it on the small solo red plates, wrap with clearpane or plastic wrap, tie with a candy cane strip ribbon, it's very popular.
  24. Waverly towels on clearance...bath size are $3.98. Halloween still at 75% (yesterday) but I bought a bunch of Dots candies for the Girl Scout troop to use in decorating Gingerbread houses, 49 cents a bag, and some Hershey's Kissables. Starbursts for DD, too. And I found those 3-D Cookie Cutters, DD loves them and it was the last box so I didn't want to take a chance on not getting them.
