I think this is a wonderful gift, its something beside a toy. Last year, we thought outside the box with the kids gifts, yes they got toys but we went with a theme, my daughter likes Tinkerbell so I got her sheets, well her grandmother got her a memory foam mattress topper and pink fuzzy blanket, and than got some other things for her room that fit the theme. My son we did the same thing, got the mattress topper, sheets and blanket in Spongebob theme. He already has the spongebob TV and rug. They are 10 and 11, still play with certain toys but its great to find something that isn't the norm like the Princess TV, can go with a whole theme of movies, books, DVD player even some plug-in play games they can go in their rooms.....

I would call your local store and ask about it, I saw the TV there but wasn't paying attention on the player'

Also, there will be alot of cheap DVD players this holiday season, I bought one for my son, its really tiny but works great for $25 at Target

I have a child playing the flute, bought from ebay last year, nice condition, plays wonderfully and this year my son joined with a Trumpet and bought from eBay and its beautiful. Both were new, came with cases and cleaning products and arrived in perfect condition and timely. I received both within 5 days time. Both were bought from the dealers on ebay with alot of feedback. They have many instruments and reasonable prices, yes I add shipping into the cost and I still got a brand new trumpet for less than $90 and flute less than $70, renting was $25 each per month so within 5 months the instruments are paid off. They can be repaired locally as with any other instrument or if bad just buy a new one! The band teacher is pleased with them too. At the beginning stage, a quality instrument is not as important as it will be later in years. But by that time, you know they will be devoted or interested in the instrument.

This is what my parents do, they give us money so if I want to spend it at that time I can. I use to shop for all three sets of grandparents and it was too much, I was doing all the shopping (of course not all on BF) but its a hassle so I tell the grandparents they can either give them money or I will have the kids send them online wish list from different stores etc and they can pick. So far, they have just given money!

how about kids karaoke, don't know if they make them for one that young. I see lots of musical type toys in the kids dept though, all these ideas are great!

I officially stopped with the 1999 Millennium one, collected over 10 years and got the boy/girl of each so I have three boxes of bears that I put out in our mud room with a tree each year. Had to stop (ok kinda of) got some of the snowden snowmen from Target, love them but if they are not in clearance, don't get them!

You know as a suggestion, maybe talk with the manager of the store that you were at and mention what you observed, maybe they can come out at a particular time and give tickets to those items and of course if those people come closer to the opening time, they won't have a ticket and the manager should be strict about you need to be standing right there in line to get your ticket. You would need to talk with the managers now so they can set-up a plan if they so desired. If all the people were there when they first got in line and then alternated going back to the car than it would be known that 4 people or whatever the number was in line but there should of been more than just the one person the whole time. You would of known it if they were just rotating in and out. I hate cutters, geez, can't you all handle standing in line, personally I would hate to stand in line all by myself all night long than my friends who slept in come and join me later.....yuk

My parents received Netflix as a gift and really said they enjoyed it, for our area turn around is 3-4 days not like some areas where they say a day. If they can keep a movie all the time in motion, you than really benefit from the service.

Oh boy, your son must of watch the same thing my 10 yr old did! After going to Target when they just put the costumes out, I did find the two clone trooper costumes they had, one was $40 and the other $30. I came home and told him to pick something else out. I did find one at Walmart, but I think if you are willing to pay $40 and up, than do a search on the net and probably check out the costume shops online like buycostumes.com etc or eBay....we just picked another costume since I didn't want to pay that for a costume.. Check your insurance first! Some insurance companies don't cover it or cancel your insurance if you have one....I don't like them but I don't want the responsibility when some kid falls off of it and we get sued (and if you don't think they will, start reading because it happens everyday). Its the reason some insurance companies don't cover pools or trampolines.

Also check Disneystore.com, they often have matching outfits though I haven't seen Christmas items yet

we adults eat and drink coffee while the kids rip into the chaos!
