  1. Starting the New Year off right by hugging the toilet! Since I don't drink I can only deduce it was the pizza I had. Happy New Year everyone! Many years ago when I worked at Wendy's on New Years Eve, it was about 2 AM or so. The bars must have had last call because we starting getting hit with drunks. It was just 2 workers and this one car pulls into drive thru and orders like 10 items (a combinations of 99 cent burgers and fries). They were totally drunk and while I hope they got pulled over and feel bad I didn't do anything like call the cops, I'm sure they made it home safe since I heard no accident reports. Anyways, they had to wait a few minutes for food, and after they pulled up to the window nobody else was in line so we made the food getting annoyed at them. So we ended up bagging up every item separately. So they got like 10 bags of food, I think they believed we gave them a bunch of free stuff. It was kind of fun but I think it was the last time I worked on New Years eve "evening" or New Years Day. I hated dealing with the drunks, so I always volunteered to work Christmas and Thanksgiving and got off Black Friday, New Years Day, and usually New Years Eve. Since we was inside a truckstop we were always open so holidays we mostly dead and we got time and a half to basically sit around most the time. No main bosses so not a lot of emphasis on cleaning, just making sure we looked busy. Figured I'd tell more stories from my past this year since it always make the forum more exciting and it helps me remember if I posted for the month or not.
  2. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good... nights sleep.
  3. Kurt Russell did a great job in Christmas Chronicles. If it's ever released on Blu Ray I will probably get it. I don't subscribe to Netflix much but just happened to have a gift card for the past couple months and was able to catch it. I know it will never happen, but I'd love for a Netflix type service that had nothing but Christmas movies. Not just Hallmark or Lifetime ones, but the big name ones too. Having all the movies in one place would make it easier for families to find something they can all watch, or just play stuff to have on a loop.
  4. I've never watched it either. In fact I haven't watched Elf either. I really have to be in the mood to watch Will Ferrell movies, and that one never interested me. As for first time movie viewing, I've watched a couple this year, but one was White Christmas. I'm glad I finally watched it, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
  5. I went to Walmart today and was quite surprised to see they still had some Black Friday movies for sale. I thought for sure they'd either be shipped back or thrown into bins by now. I didn't have much time to look but almost get the Divergent series but never seen them so I didn't want to blind buy 3 movies I didn't know I'd like. Also this counts as my December post so that's why it also seemed like a rant. Happy December everyone. "It's a long December and there's reason to believe, that this year will be better than the last"- Counting Crows
  6. Got all my movies from Best Buy as of yesterday. The shipping was faster than they predicted as all three orders came well before December 3rd. I have to admit I've had issues with them in the past, but the last couple years I've felt they have done outstanding work. I would probably go in store much more often if I was closer to one. Though its comforting to know I can always order online.
  7. I'M SO EXCITED! I'M SO EXCITED! I'M So... scared!
  8. I really loved the tote bags from previous years. Maybe an idea for next year is for those that last you could give a choice from a few items. I know it would depend on how many are left and how many decide on certain items, but maybe that way it could be different items and allow for people to get something they might use more than others. For example, one person might choose a phone case, while another might decide to choose a calendar. Also allowing choosing a couple items for those who make it all year, and maybe those who might have missed a month but still want to finish out could get an item. Overall it was a blast, and I noticed the contest entries seemed down this year, but I was curious if it was just a down year for the site overall. I also missed the "$1,000 Shopping Spree" contest as that is my favorite besides the picture contest. All in all it was a fun year and a pretty fun Black Friday.
  9. I waited until this afternoon to go to Walmart. I figured all I wanted was movies and plastic ware so it wasn't worth fighting the crowds over. I came out pretty happy by the time I left. 1.96 DVD: It (1990) Creed Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold 3.96 Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital: Home Alone (YES!) 9.96 DVD: The Original Christmas Special Collection (Rudolph, Frosty, Drummer Boy, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, Cricket & The Hearth) 9.96 Blu-Ray + Digital: The Expendables 1,2, & 3 The only movies I went in looking for was Home Alone and It so finding the others was good. Someone mentioned finding Grumpy Cat Christmas for 1.96 and I would have jumped on that. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and see if its there. Stuff was still being picked over and with a possible snow storm coming I'm sure I'll need to get something anyways.
  10. I only bought movies online from Best Buy, but got 5 movies under 30 bucks so I'm happy. I got: Super Troopers Super Troopers 2 Die Hard The Sandlot Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri All were on Blu-ray and included digital and all except The Sandlot and Super Troopers included a DVD as well. Again, that was pretty much all I wanted, but still hope to make a Walmart run likely on Friday once the craziness is over. Age has caught up with me to deal with Walmart madness.
  11. I didn't give it my full attention, but hoping it would be a bit better. I'll look again later, but I did see a couple things that looked good, just not sure if I want to battle the crowds.
  12. Each of the pages say in-store only, so I don't think they will be online.
  13. Glad to see this, it reminded me I was going to look at a Kobalt screwdriver. Though I have to say its just odd seeing Craftsmen being sold at stores that aren't Sears or Kmart.
  14. Doing an online search I guess its from Alcatel. I never heard of them, but Best Buy has the phone selling for $40 right now and gets pretty good reviews. Unless your store is like ours and its outdated as it hits the shelves. I haven't trusted buying soda at our place since they opened because everything is outdated or flat. But otherwise, it is a good deal.
  15. Someone posted this on Youtube a few days ago, but I didn't believe it was legit. I'm just having a hard time finding too many deals in this one. $5 appliances were the same price a couple weeks ago, and saving 5 cents on trash bags???? REALLY???? I wasn't expecting a lot but was hoping for something that gave me a reason to walk a block away and get a few things, now it looks like I might if I get bored or something.
  16. Its funny the moment I find really good deals on external hard drives, I realize I don't really need one like I did in the past. Oh well.
  17. At this point, I'm surprised Kmart even has 12 pages. I didn't look too closely since all of them near me closed, but I think 12 is what they've had previous years when not including their Thanksgiving Day stuff and such.
  18. For me the difference this year isn't so much they suck, but I'm not in the market for much, so a lot of stuff doesn't interest me. Though I do always enjoy this thread so I can't wait to see some of these replies.
  19. Not seeing much I need, but its not bad I guess. Might have to look into the blu ray player.
  20. I rarely watch these movies, but I already know you'd be drunker than the original Santa in Miracle on 34th Street pretty quick. I watched about 5 minutes of one of the movies the other day and knocked out a couple and predicted more would happen. Not sure the name but Candace Cameron was in it and Alan Thicke played her dad, something about a ski lodge I think.
  21. I can't say about the 55" but I have two Element TV's and both work great for me. There are some minor annoyances but that could be something I could have checking into if I really wanted before I bought them. I bought a 40" for 100 bucks earlier this year and its perfect. My older one is a 32" and its a few years old and also never had issues with. In fact I think that one outlasted the Sanyo I had for a few years.
  22. Don't want to be one of those people, but this ad doesn't look a whole lot better than a normal weekly ad. That's not to say I couldn't find a couple good things, but I don't see too many people making this their first stop.
  23. I like it a lot, especially the movies. I hope we'll find out a few more movies on the list sooner than later since I have a few to pick up. It's just odd seeing ads with vinyl albums on sale but no CD's.
  24. It has been a blast being a member of this club. While I didn't post a lot in other threads throughout the year, I did view a lot more threads by remembering to come back each month. For the rest of this month, I'm sure I'll be checking out the site about 20 times a day as Black Friday nears. Thanks Brad and Gottadeal for this T-shirt club and I'll wear my shirt with pride. Well, I already have, but with even more pride knowing I finally posted this month.
  25. Never been big on Kohl's but I might consider going this year. Only been there once on BF and it was a madhouse, maybe a different location might not be as bad.
