I bought my first Christmas decoration the other day, but haven't taken it out of the box yet. Last year I mentioned I bought a Christmas Tree from Dollar Tree, and this year I found another one, but it's white. I'll post a pic when I get around to setting it up and decorating it.

Count me as one of those people who don't have a smart phone. I typed in the receipts on my laptop once I got home, and always enjoyed the process even though I knew if I had a smart phone I could just scan it. With this new development I guess I'm done with it.

Not much I'm in the market for this year, but am hoping to find a great deal on a Blu Ray player. I'm starting to accumulate enough Blu Rays to get one. I have one now but loaned it to my mom since her DVD player messed up so I'll probably just let her keep it. Not in the market for a TV until some are available with 3.0 capabilities plus I just got a 40 inch TV for $100 a few months ago.

As September rolls in I'm starting a unique challenge I found on another website. The plan is to watch 50 movies in a month. I guess some people on there try to do it monthly, I'm not sure I can do that, but I'll try every few months. With day one almost complete, I have watched one movie and might watch 2-3 more tomorrow so I think I'm starting off fine. We'll see what happens as more sports come on and I have stuff to do. I guess its a way to keep my mind off Black Friday for another month. I remember in years past some ads starting coming out by now, and while that was fun, it also got my hopes up for a few years. So if I keep my mind off it, I guess it will be even more exciting when they do start popping up.

I will send a PM sometime this weekend. I can't believe its almost September already. It's about time for the site to start picking up.

Another month gone by and I'm sitting here thinking about how August is fair time in Missouri. The State Fair is about 35 minutes away but I doubt I go this year as it doesn't sound too exciting. I've only been maybe 5 times my entire life and while I enjoyed myself each time, I didn't find a ton of stuff to do. In comparison I've gone to the Iowa State Fair once and have been dying to go back. They have much more to do and a lot more activities like the Butter Cow. The year I went in 2008 they celebrated local gymnast who was representing the USA in the Olympics that year- Shawn Johnson. While I can't say I've ever met her, I can say I've seen a butter version of her, and it was pretty cool. I didn't go to any concerts while I was there, but they also have better concerts and a lot of free ones too. That being said, I did see Sheryl Crow at the Missouri State Fair once, and it was easily top 5 concerts I ever went to despite being upper level nosebleed seats. If I could do it all over again, I wish I could have gotten better pictures. I think I have a video up on Youtube of it though, so I can't complain too much.

I was debating on if I should keep my account for another month and find some Prime deals, or cancel it. I opted to cancel it just because I didn't really need anything at this moment. Too bad Prime Day wasn't the 7th, or else I'd still be able to look and possibly be a couple deals if I found something.

I was planning on telling a story each month, but I guess a couple weeks of 90+ degree weather has melted my brain as I'm drawing a blank. So no story this month, but figured I needed to drop by. How about a headband or armband that has the Gottadeal logo on it, athletes wear them when them in practice and sometimes in games. I've always considered Black Friday to be like a sport- how else do you manage to get all the good deals, and all the hours of prep? So maybe that could be a bonus for the members who make it all the way to November.

Let's see, what's happened recently... hmm.. Well I found a 40" TV on clearance at Walmart for 99 bucks, so I got a new TV. Hopefully it will last a few years or at the least until ATSC 3.0 TV's come out and stations become equipped in my area with the technology. So was any decisions made on the t-shirts discussed last month?

I can't think of a story to tell this month, but going with the theme of meeting celebs at work, I was once upset that my coworkers didn't tell me "some rock band" stopped into the gas station connected to the Wendy's I worked at. Turns out the rock band was Underoath, and at the time I was a huge fan of them and Christian Rock music. I even was a news editor for a Christian Music website. FYI, my avatar is a band logo for one of my all time favorite Christian Rock bands, The Benjamin Gate. One other time I just missed out on a celebrity supposedly was a rumor that The Rock stopped in. I just found it hard to believe so I wasn't too upset. I'm not sure why he'd be anywhere near us at the time since he wasn't wrestling at the time and he was taking off in Hollywood. As for the club member shirts, I'm okay with whatever. I do like orange, but I was thinking more of a sky blue color, as long as the blue wouldn't interfere with any of the coloring on the shirt logos.

So how about another Truck Stop Wendy's episode. This one occurred on an overnight shift with two other employees. I was mopping the floor in the kitchen when a guy was being waited on by my shift boss. The other employee, and older guy was making the food. The boss was talking to the customer and he wasn't rushing for the food but mentioned he was a tour bus driver and his boss would fire him if he found out they stopped (he was sleeping on the bus). All of a sudden the food maker start walking past me after he finished up making the food to do whatever task was next on his list. Suddenly the boss is on our headset and tells us who the guy is working for, but not to go out back and look so the guy won't get in trouble. Well the food guy didn't hear that part and starts busting out the back door as I tried to stop him. Suddenly I hear him yelling at the top of his lungs at like 2 AM on the back dock, "YO FRAMPTON!" I finally got him to stop after 3-4 times, but I admittedly would have like to seen him too. The story itself I think is a good story, but to be able to add I got to meet Peter Frampton would have been icing on the cake. I don't know if he ever heard my coworker or what happened, but it was a fun night. It was the same night I think the lead singer of Lonestar came in and ordered food, but I missed meeting him as I had to do a grease run. I'm not sure I have any other celeb stories, but maybe I'll think of something next month.

Since I wanted to say something different than HAPPY MARCH like others, I thought I would tell a little story that has no real meaning but something that happened in my life. For about a decade, I worked at a Wendy's inside a truck stop. It was a Pilot Travel Center and we had many regulars aside from the normal townfolk. We also had truckers who I got to know well. One usually came in at two in the morning about twice a week and ordered the chili because he said it was the best he ever tasted. Once I moved back to day shift I missed talking to him, but he then started stopping in during the days. Anyways, none of that really matters, but I did everything at the restaurant but one of my favorite memories I had of the place was the time this guy came in and ordered a burger. A couple guys were standing close by him and my manager was taking his order. It took a moment but she started to freak out and the guy told her to stay chill. He wanted to keep a low profile. So she did, she took the order and then came back to me where I was making the sandwiches and told me not to screw this order up. I told her I didn't plan to but I wasn't sure why this order was so special. She was still kinda freaking out, but she leans in and says, DUDE, that's Nick Lachey! In the end I made the burger correctly, and while I think she got a picture or an autograph from him, I can say that I once made a hamburger for Nick Lachey. That wasn't the only celebrity I met, but maybe I'll tell another story next month. So not the coolest story, but a good time waster I think. Hope everyone has a great month.

I'm pretty happy, a new Dollar General just opened about 200 yards from my place, and its pretty sweet. In a town of under 1000 people and no grocery store, that is a pretty huge deal. Now can't wait to see what happens on Black Friday, I might have to camp out.
-
The closest store to me is closing, but I haven't been there in 5 years or more maybe. I might head in there sometime in late March, but don't have a big desire to go. I would mainly look at baseball cards, but they were usually way overpriced anyways, so 60% off wouldn't be much of a savings over other places, but who knows I could get lucky.
-
None closed in Missouri I don't think, but was there every an official list released? I saw a few reports of 63 stores closed but never saw the full list. The first post here appears to have about half the stores. Also seems Illinois was hit pretty hard by closures.

Thank goodness I saw a Gottadeal Facebook post or else I would have forgotten to post this month. I need to get all these bookmarks on my new computer figured out. On the bright side it allows me a chance to get a new pic posted as the temp drops from 50 to 11 today.

I think Chief has a nice tree, but I think mine might have been cheaper. I got mine for a buck. Add another buck for the lights, and 5 cents for the red beads, and I am all in for $2.05. The angel on top was something my mom had laying around her place. The red circles I used for ornaments come on the beads. The tree and lights I bought at Dollar Tree, and the beads came from a local second hand store.

It's not movies, but if you have a streaming device (I have a Roku), on the History Channel app you can watch Christmas Through The Decades. You can watch the 60's, 70's, and 80's without a login, but to watch the 90's you need your sign in for cable or whatever. Its a really good documentary much in the vein of I Love the 80's and similar shows. Speaking of streaming devices, on the Crackle app, they have Lethal Weapon as well as a few other Christmas movies. There are also a few other niche Christmas apps on the Roku that shows Christmas specials and such.

My laptop I ordered on Thanksgiving arrived the following Monday. I was quite shocked it arrived so quick. I was so happy, but then I realized I had to remember all the site I go to. I remembered I haven't been to Gottadeal yet, so now is a good time to bookmark the site so I don't forget. Also since its a new month I thought I would make my entry count and post more than just "yep, still doing this". Hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Finally visited my local Walmart yesterday and still managed to get the canning jars I wanted. I also found quite a few cheap movies, but only got Straight Outta Compton since it included digital for only 6 bucks (in addition to blu ray and dvd). I was pretty happy to see my movies I ordered on Thanksgiving arrived today as well as my laptop. Despite the nightmare it was for ordering on Best Buy's site in the early hours, I have to admit this is the fastest I've ever received items.

This is the first year in a while I can remember I didn't win a shirt, but I also didn't really try. Hopefully next year I will get one since its a big anniversary. I admit I'm one who doesn't always post throughout the year, but I do check the site out often. Now I just have to remember to post.

I wasn't able to go this morning, but have to make a trip in a couple hours anyways so I'll see what's left. I don't expect much, but its also become quite fun to see what is left after most the people are done.

I wasn't in the market for much, and came out good. First I got The Lion King and Miracles From Heaven from Walmart (already have Miracles on my VUDU account). Also got the $20 Igloo mini fridge. It was a breeze to check out and my order was done in time for Best Buy deals to start... Best Buy online was a nightmare. After 3 hours or so I was finally able to place my order for a laptop. One item took 3 hours to check out with. Along the way had about 400 sign outs and busy websites. I almost gave up but didn't. I'm use to having trouble with Best Buy on Black Friday, but it was the only laptop I saw I liked. Later I might go out to Walmart and see if any 2 or 4 buck DVD's are left. In the meantime I might check out Amazon for some deals and later go to COMC.com and see what kind of trading cards I can get. Overall despite the Best Buy website (which I managed to laugh off), I think I did pretty good.

I got the items I really wanted last night online from the stores, however I kind of curious what $2 DVD's are left at Walmart and wondering if they would have any more Mason jars. My question is this- I live in a small town (no stores) and the store next to me has about 10k people. They only have a Walmart and Dollar General (among Black Friday stores), but are within 30 miles of a big town with most stores. Since Walmart in store begins now and most stores in the morning open at 6 AM, do you think the small town Walmart will be mostly dead at 3 AM? I would think most would hit it now and the second wave wouldn't hit until after they are done with the other stores in the bigger city (which has 3 or 4 Walmart's btw). So, would 3 AM be a quiet time to hit up Walmart for leftover deals? I'm busy the rest of the day until about 4PM so its my only time to hit it and if I miss it, no big deal.
