A couple hours after posting that I was looking something up and noticed he was fired on Saturday. Shows how much I've followed football this year. Then again I was caught off-guard to see an NFL game on during a Wednesday afternoon too, but 2020 is a weird year.

If this was 1997, I would be totally pumped to see the Lions. I did feel bad as it seemed like tradition watching them play on Thanksgiving, but this year has really made me not care as much about sports in general, so I haven't watched a lot. But since I knew the Chiefs vs. Bucs game would be a good game it was decided that having dinner and watching that would be a good idea. Hopefully next year Kansas City can play on Thanksgiving, that would be a tradition I could get behind. Then again I would probably be more open to watching the Lions if the had a different head coach, I just never cared for Matt Patricia.

I didn't have to buy anything for Black Friday this year, so I pretty much missed out (aside from a few trading card purchases). However, I had a really nice turkey dinner on Sunday (decided to wait until then to enjoy some food and some GOOD football games). Capped it off with some board games and watching some Youtube videos with the family. All in all, it was one of the best Thanksgivings I've had in quite a long time. I hope everyone else had a great one too.

When I was growing up we had a smart thermostat.... it was my dad! "WHO TURNED THE HEAT UP?"

Congrats to all the winners, and good suggestions.

Here's looking to another year of talking to the rowdy crowd of Gottadeal. Can't wait to see what kind of discussions develop in the next year.

Got my package today, I was so happy to get the hat along with all the other goodies. Was going to do a live unboxing, but I didn't have a spot to do it in so I couldn't. The shirt looks great and was the 2017 design. It even had a 2018 mini calendar wrapped inside the shirt.

There is some nice ideas on here, my favorite is the fanny pack. I think popsockets and lanyards are nice too, not sure I've ever seen a Gottadeal lanyard, but really like the popsocket I got last year. Love to get my hands on a Gottadeal baseball cap as well. I also like the ideas for a portable charger, hand sanitizer (even if the virus is over, its still good to keep your hands clean), box cutter or similar tool, highlighters or pens, as well as the cooler bag. I may have won already, but love seeing the suggestions, there are some really unique ideas.

When I worked in fast food, I never had a problem working on Thanksgiving as it was inside a truck stop and some truckers weren't at home so they needed a place to eat. I understand grocery stores being open limited hours and gas stations in case last minute items or gas is needed. I can even understand some big box stores like Walmart that has a good variety of food for sale (good variety meaning quantity not really quality). However, Big Lots does not scream to me "I NEED SOME FOOD FROM BIG LOTS!" Of all years, I think this would be the year they could be closed for the day. Normally I have no problems with stores being open, but this year, I'm fine if most/all stores are closed on Thanksgiving again aside from limited hours gas stations and grocery stores (and restaurants inside truck stops). Having said all that, Big Lots ads always look the same. This looks like a similar ad from a random week in mid-June. Nothing stands out, which makes it even more sad they feel they need to be open for Thanksgiving.

When I lived in a house (the one in my profile pic) I usually had a nice display for Christmas. My dad and sister decorated the other holidays, but I usually took the lead on Christmas. My favorite was the year My dad and I lifted a plywood sled up on the porch roof and had Santa up there. I need to find that picture now. Since moving to an apartment I haven't decorated as much. Still have the reindeer and Santa from the sled, but never set them out. After my dad passed I only decorated for my nephews. After one of my sisters passed and didn't see the nephews much I pretty much stopped decorating. I would like to go big one more time though.

Happy November everyone, hope to see you all in the new thread.

Congratulations to all the winners, some of these recipes look easy enough that even I could do.

This one is always a fun contest. Unless I win Publisher's Clearinghouse, I don't think I'll fall into $1000 so its fun to dream. Happy Halloween everyone! Hope it was good for everyone.

I don't have kids, but I remember growing up I always enjoyed when the adults put lottery tickets into my stocking. I didn't really win most of the time, but a time or two I'd win 10 bucks, so that was fun. I also use to get movies, and since I collected baseball cards, I use to get all kinds of trading cards, they fit perfect into a stocking. Plus they make trading cards almost anything now. I like the idea of flash drives, I'd probably like gift cards too. Dollar Tree is also a perfect place to get some cheap stuff.

I forgot where I saw it posted, but Freeform released their Christmas movie calendar. I wasn't too impressed with it since they show Home Alone 1 and 2 like 15 of the days, but was excited to see them showing some Simpsons Christmas episodes. Among the other surprises was them showing Jingle All The Way 2 but not the first one. Same thing with Daddy's Home 2. Never seen the sequel, but wouldn't mind seeing the first one again before watching it. All in all I would think with the library that Disney has that they could have had a bit more variety on it. As for my favorite Christmas movies, my all time favorite is the original Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone. I wish I could find more recent ones I like that I want to watch yearly but can't think of any from the past decade as "must watch". Though the one with Kurt Russell on Netflix was pretty good. If I still had Netflix I'd watch the sequel when it comes out.

I usually buy DVD's every year, and more recently have been buying the rubbermaid sets from Walmart. I'm not sure I'll get either this year but thanks to Dollar Tree having more Blu Ray and DVD's for sale, I'm pretty set on movies for a while. The rubbermaid sets will last another year so I'm good there too.

I think the "fun days" have long passed, but I was just thinking that it would be cool if someone wrote a book about the memories they have from the "glory years". Maybe Gottadeal could publish the book and it could just be stories from some of the members. I'm not sure how much it is to publish books, but it could be fun, and possibly if nothing else something just given out to site members in future years who wins the contests.

I'm not that great of a cook, so I looked for a recipe that I would like to try one day and found this one: EGGNOG COOKIES Ingredients 1 cup butter, softened 2 cups sugar 1 cup eggnog 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 5-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 large egg white, lightly beaten Colored sugar Vanilla frosting, optional Directions Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggnog, baking soda and nutmeg. Gradually add flour and mix well. Cover and chill 1 hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out half of the dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Using floured 3-1/2-in. cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes; place on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat with remaining dough. Brush with egg white; sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake at 350° until edges are lightly browned, 6-8 minutes. Cool on wire racks. If desired, decorate with frosting. I forgot how many it made, I thought it said 5 dozen or so, but I could be off. I haven't baked anything in a while and if I had my Twinkie Cake recipe on hand I would have posted that instead, its about the only thing I make somewhat decent.

Congrats to the winners!

Not so much captions, but more like the beginning of a writing prompt. Here we go. Photo 1: This isn't a photo from when they first started the sale, because nobody has a Gottadeal shirt on. Photo 2: In an attempt to prank the entire town, Scotty placed a well lit Best Buy sign up at the old abandoned Circuit City and placed a few tents outside. So far the prank has worked as 20 people have formed a line behind the tents. Photo 3: When this line started all of these people were kids. They are forever known as Toys R Us Kids, even after the store closed and the had children of their own.

I don't have much of a budget this year, hoping to rack up a few gift cards to get a few things. Then again, I don't have many people to buy for, but I'm always looking out for deals, hope to find a few this year.
-
Standing in lines will soon be a thing of the past but I will miss it. It's a shame this year will be unlike all the rest shopping online stinks. Thanksgiving dinner will return for so many scrolling for the deals.

It is October and not much has changed in the last month. I'm sure the second hand store I visit will soon have Christmas decorations out so that's something to look forward to. I rearranged my living room and its almost complete and that makes me happy. This year I'll have a place to put a Christmas tree.

I got my pins in the mail today. Bea-u-ti-ful! Now I wish I had some reason to be on Zoom and display them to the world! Maybe I'll take a picture and post it whenever I do my next blog.
