  1. This one is always a fun contest. Unless I win Publisher's Clearinghouse, I don't think I'll fall into $1000 so its fun to dream. Here's what I would get, all from Best Buy. 2x WD Easystore 5TB External Portable Hard Drive ($89.99) (Total- $179.98) 1x Xbox Series X ($499.99) 1x Madden NFL 21 Xbox Series X ($27.99) 1x Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition Xbox One ($14.99) 1x Digiland 10.1" Tablet ($59.99) 1x Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus ($39.99) 2x SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 128GB Flash Drive ($18.99) (Total- $37.98) 1x SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB Memory Card ($29.99) 1x SanDisk Extreme Plus 256GB microSDXC Memory Card ($29.99) 1x Sunpak Youtube Creator Vlogging Kit ($24.99) 1x Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite ($17.99) 1x $5.99 Blu Ray Movies -Jay and Silent Bob Reboot ($5.99) - I Still Believe ($5.99) -Peppermint ($5.99) -Armageddon ($5.99) -Creed II ($5.99) -The Polar Express ($5.99) Total: $999.81 It seems like a lot of storage with the hard drives and flash drives, but it will come in handy. Realistically, only the VHS to DVD and some of the movies are on my radar to get. Though the new Xbox looks really good.
  2. Happy Halloween everyone! Hope it was good for everyone.
  3. I don't have kids, but I remember growing up I always enjoyed when the adults put lottery tickets into my stocking. I didn't really win most of the time, but a time or two I'd win 10 bucks, so that was fun. I also use to get movies, and since I collected baseball cards, I use to get all kinds of trading cards, they fit perfect into a stocking. Plus they make trading cards almost anything now. I like the idea of flash drives, I'd probably like gift cards too. Dollar Tree is also a perfect place to get some cheap stuff.
  4. I forgot where I saw it posted, but Freeform released their Christmas movie calendar. I wasn't too impressed with it since they show Home Alone 1 and 2 like 15 of the days, but was excited to see them showing some Simpsons Christmas episodes. Among the other surprises was them showing Jingle All The Way 2 but not the first one. Same thing with Daddy's Home 2. Never seen the sequel, but wouldn't mind seeing the first one again before watching it. All in all I would think with the library that Disney has that they could have had a bit more variety on it. As for my favorite Christmas movies, my all time favorite is the original Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone. I wish I could find more recent ones I like that I want to watch yearly but can't think of any from the past decade as "must watch". Though the one with Kurt Russell on Netflix was pretty good. If I still had Netflix I'd watch the sequel when it comes out.
  5. I usually buy DVD's every year, and more recently have been buying the rubbermaid sets from Walmart. I'm not sure I'll get either this year but thanks to Dollar Tree having more Blu Ray and DVD's for sale, I'm pretty set on movies for a while. The rubbermaid sets will last another year so I'm good there too.
  6. I think the "fun days" have long passed, but I was just thinking that it would be cool if someone wrote a book about the memories they have from the "glory years". Maybe Gottadeal could publish the book and it could just be stories from some of the members. I'm not sure how much it is to publish books, but it could be fun, and possibly if nothing else something just given out to site members in future years who wins the contests.
  7. I'm not that great of a cook, so I looked for a recipe that I would like to try one day and found this one: EGGNOG COOKIES Ingredients 1 cup butter, softened 2 cups sugar 1 cup eggnog 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 5-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 large egg white, lightly beaten Colored sugar Vanilla frosting, optional Directions Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggnog, baking soda and nutmeg. Gradually add flour and mix well. Cover and chill 1 hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out half of the dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Using floured 3-1/2-in. cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes; place on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat with remaining dough. Brush with egg white; sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake at 350° until edges are lightly browned, 6-8 minutes. Cool on wire racks. If desired, decorate with frosting. I forgot how many it made, I thought it said 5 dozen or so, but I could be off. I haven't baked anything in a while and if I had my Twinkie Cake recipe on hand I would have posted that instead, its about the only thing I make somewhat decent.
  8. Not so much captions, but more like the beginning of a writing prompt. Here we go. Photo 1: This isn't a photo from when they first started the sale, because nobody has a Gottadeal shirt on. Photo 2: In an attempt to prank the entire town, Scotty placed a well lit Best Buy sign up at the old abandoned Circuit City and placed a few tents outside. So far the prank has worked as 20 people have formed a line behind the tents. Photo 3: When this line started all of these people were kids. They are forever known as Toys R Us Kids, even after the store closed and the had children of their own.
  9. I don't have much of a budget this year, hoping to rack up a few gift cards to get a few things. Then again, I don't have many people to buy for, but I'm always looking out for deals, hope to find a few this year.
  10. Standing in lines will soon be a thing of the past but I will miss it. It's a shame this year will be unlike all the rest shopping online stinks. Thanksgiving dinner will return for so many scrolling for the deals.
  11. It is October and not much has changed in the last month. I'm sure the second hand store I visit will soon have Christmas decorations out so that's something to look forward to. I rearranged my living room and its almost complete and that makes me happy. This year I'll have a place to put a Christmas tree.
  12. I got my pins in the mail today. Bea-u-ti-ful! Now I wish I had some reason to be on Zoom and display them to the world! Maybe I'll take a picture and post it whenever I do my next blog.
  13. I'll miss having money to spend! No, in all seriousness, I'll miss heading to stores at 2-3 AM with my friend trying to get good deals as soon as the stores open. I haven't got to do that in a few years and just really miss doing it. This year doesn't change that, but maybe stores might stop opening on Thanksgiving depending on how sales are this year which would bring back more of the "fun" of the days of yore.
  14. I've considered getting the new xbox just because it will play some older games. I don't have an Xbox One and my xbox 360 I feel is starting to be on its last legs (10 year plus run, I can't complain), so its something to consider. I doubt I'll buy it this year though, I'll wait a year or so. I'll probably have to sell some stuff off to get it (I planned on selling some stuff anyways, so it gives me a reason to clear some clutter). The backwards compatibility is really the only reason I'd get one. Only a couple 360 games I own would work (I play mostly sports games), but I figure with most Xbox One games working (minus the Kinect games), I could buy some used and wouldn't have to buy so many brand new games. In the meantime, my 360 still works, and I just found 3 NES systems in storage and have been having a blast playing some Mario and other games. Maybe I might not need a new system on second thought.
  15. Made a trip to Walmart this week and saw not only was Halloween stuff out (obviously), but they already had Christmas lights and trees out. I think they was there a couple weeks ago too but man is it way too early for that stuff.
  16. Checking in for the month. I was hoping to win the Publisher's Clearinghouse at the end of August and that could get some nice gifts for people, but alas, it didn't happen. I guess I'll keep trying. Have a great month everyone!
  17. Another month, and not much has changed. At least its cooled off a bit so I can make a few trips to storage and do some cleaning. It gives me a chance to go out and not be around people, and find stuff I forgot I still had. Hope to make a few more trips this week before it warms back up.
  18. I'm okay with them being closed. It could be interesting how Black Friday becomes going forward. I would assume they'd post more online deals creating less foot traffic for their stores in future years if it is a success. That all depends on how smooth it goes.
  19. Checking in for July. My small town has decided to go ahead and have their annual rodeo, but they won't have a beer garden. If anything I figured they'd cancel the rodeo and keep the beer garden. But they can still bring their own so the drunks still have a place to go.
  20. It's June and all the days are blending together. Starting to get out of the endless cycle of virus news and now protesting is filling up the airwaves. I'm not getting political on here, but its good to find a place like this that you can escape all that for a bit and enjoy a happy place with other members. I may not post as much anymore, but I've always admired the peacefulness of the site and wish there were more like it on the interwebs. Hope everyone has a good month as we inch closer to Black Friday, if many businesses even make it until then.
  21. Weather here has been a mixed bag, right now its day three (I think) of raining. I'm not complaining too much, but I did manage to get to storage and grab a few things and store stuff away before it got too bad. Hope to do some more in a couple weeks. Hope its not too warm by then.
  22. I'm hoping things are starting to get back to normal. I really dread making a Walmart trip today, but need to get some medicine so might as well get everything now so I won't have to make another trip next week. On the bright side, by staying in I've managed to get some work done on my computer I've neglected for the past few months. So at least I got something done. It wasn't until last night that I realized I didn't check in for the month, which isn't surprising since I haven't been on many of my normal sites lately. Spotty internet makes me want to visit as few sites as possible, but luckily its starting to speed back up.
  23. Hope everyone had a great Easter, or as least as good of one as possible. Mine wasn't too special, but I don't think it would have been too different otherwise. Too bad I won't be able to get out to get some after Easter deals though.
  24. Probably going to make one last Walmart/supermarket run for a couple weeks this morning. Hopefully it won't be too crowded, and luckily I only need a few things. Unfortunately once of those items is toilet paper, so I hope I can find some. Being in a rural location, I expect at worst I can find some at Dollar General that should hold me over until the hysteria dies down. Hope everyone is safe, and hopefully things will get better soon.
