  1. I've always looked at cameras on Black Friday, but I think there are better deals throughout the year. If you need a new one in a pinch, or maybe as a gift, then by all means, they are fine. I still have a 10.2 megapixel I bought a few years ago on clearance at Walmart, and it was either in the spring or fall. I think it might depend on when new cameras come out (like when new TV's come out after the Super Bowl). My camera is a Samsung, and I really like it. I wish it would take better action shots indoors (I go to some indoor football games) and the lighting is a little dark indoors, but Samsung has always been fine by my standards. I use to have a HP which also worked fine and I sometimes use it. I'm looking to upgrade at some point, not mainly because I might just get a camcorder, but I doubt I would get a camera on Black Friday.
  2. KidKraft Fun Explorers Rocket Ship http://www.amazon.com/KidKraft-Fun-Explorers-Rocket-Ship/dp/B002MQE1SC/ref=sr_1_64?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1317421554&sr=1-64 It was 137.99 now its 69.99
  3. I'm hoping a smaller size TV will be cheap. Something under a 27". I don't have much money, and I don't really care about huge TV's, so if I can afford a smaller one I'd be happy. Otherwise I may venture into looking for a cheap Bluray player and movies.
  4. I have no particular dress code for Black Friday, but I have a couple GottaDeal shirts I won in each of the past two years, so I wear those. I usually bring the ads themselves with me (others put them in binders or notebooks, but I don't). As for the cart, it depends on what I need, and who all I'm with. If I have a friend or two with me (as was the case last year), I like the strategy of having a person stay in a empty section of the store with the cart, and the other people grab the stuff. If I am by myself, and if I must, then I will use a cart. Otherwise, I will try my best not to use a cart. To me carts are about as bad as strollers. Those are good questions, I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.
  5. Last year (I'm not sure where it originated from, I assume American Express) was the first Small Business Saturday. It is a day that asks consumers to shop at small local retailers as a way to help them and to say thank you. November 26th, the day after Black Friday has been chosen as this year's date. Here is a story with more information. http://www.giftsanddec.com/blog/Savvy_Store_Solutions/42371-Shop_Small_Is_Big.php I'm going to write about it in an upcoming blog on my site, but I was wondering if anyone participated in it last year, or if anyone will this year. I like the idea, and I think I did last year, and if I can, I will again this year.
  6. It's a shock to me that with the internet age, that there are so many shopping channels. I'm not sure we need more than the big 3, but there are tons out there. I should have watched it though, because that is a good idea for gift suggestions. I usually don't get suckered into shopping network, but if it's an informercial, than I am Mr. Sucker. Glad I don't have a credit card or else I'd own a lot of what they sell. What were some of the good ideas for the QVC Christmas show?
  7. Just a thought, but maybe Big Lots and other stores have displays up in July because of the (rather pointless in my opinion) phenomenon known as CHRISTMAS IN JULY! I never have understood why people celebrate it, but I think some stores figure they can make a profit on it. I went to my local Walmart a couple nights ago and they had trees and a few other items up, but not a whole lot. As long as the store has room to display it, I'm fine with it. It's a personal choice if you want to look at it or not. I'm not too big on Halloween, but I don't really mind when I see display's up in July. I can just right past it (unless like this year, I'm looking for a cheap Charlie Sheen mask, WINNING!).
  8. Thanks, and I also updated the links on my page, and added the link to the youtube page and your ustream page. I also embedded the shows from Saturday onto my page. I will do the same for the other shows, unless there is any objection.
  9. Not really holiday related, but I do enjoy watching QVC for their sports shows. I haven't watched this year, but I like the NFL one on Mondays, and then after the Super Bowl. As for the Christmas stuff, what do they sell, decorations, or gift ideas and such?
  10. I plan on being at the other ones, I forgot about it last night once the game came on then once I made it, I had to go somewhere. Are the old ones on ustream still. I will go back and watch them.
  11. I finally made it. My net is a bit spotty though.
  12. Same time as the Missouri-Oklahoma game? You can't make me choose the webcast over my Tigers! However I have been multitasking a lot lately and recording the game anyways, so I'll try my best to be there. On an unrelated note, what happened to the Gottadeal in the media thread? I Found more sites that mentioned us (I say us since I've been a member for 6 years and consider everyone here family). One is newsjunkyjournal which while I didn't read it all, the intro was very nice. http://www.newsjunkyjournal.com/tag/black-friday-2011-predictions/ The other is a short one from about.com which has a very brief mention. http://hometheater.about.com/b/2011/09/19/black-friday-predictions-start-to-surface.htm Just figured I'd post them here since I figure this will be a popular thread today.
  13. Thanks for sharing. I entered so I could possibly get something for my nephews. Overall the toys look ok, but nothing really new. They always seem to have those items.
  14. Thats essentially any ad released for Black Friday- to get us frenzied into spending more money. Honestly the same could be said for Brad's predictions. It gets us in the spirits, then if one is off, we complain that the ads are terrible. I understand where your coming from though, but it really does boil down to Toys R Us trying to push sales. It's up to us to see if we have the restraint, or cave in.
  15. Cats love lights and will chew on them. I honestly thought this was a joke thread when I saw the title since people post the "shopping with kids" threads. Great title! :)
  16. I'm happy about this but doubt I use it. I will have no money this year, but would use it if I did. I was hoping to get a new laptop this year but I guess it will wait another year.
  17. I hope a very plesant expierence today. Despite waiting in checkout over an hour at Menard's, it was worth it. Anyways, my loot included: Family Game Night 3 for XBOX 360 (after 20 dollar gc, I paid 7.95 plus free shipping) All the Fast & Furious movies a small crockpot 5 fleece blankets CD holder (holds 206 CDS) batteries Hot wheels hand warmers Christmas Vacation DVD (misplaced mine) Marley and Me DVD 2 TB external Hard Drive Blue Jeans and probably more I really only wanted the hard drive and some cheap movies, I was happy overall. I would have bought the 20 dollar camcorder at Menards, but it was sold out before I could get it.
  18. My friend and I was at Walmart at midnight, a lot of sections were pointlessly roped off. We helped a lot of people by holding the ropes as they pulled their carts under. Not the greatest thing, but I must say, I'm not sure if I encounted any rude people today while shopping.
  19. Just like the previous two poster: Miracle on 34th Street Christmas Vacation My 2 favorites EVER! It looks like the one that I love the most and currently watching (34th Street) might be knocked out. What a shame.
  20. Here's Round Three!!! The Grinch vs Miracle on 34th Street- Original Version The Santa Clause vs White Christmas Christmas Vacation vs Santa Claus- The Movie It's a Wonderful Life vs Elf
  21. I can't say about other systems, but 08 was much better on PS2 than 09. Also it would be cheaper. Its a fun game, and Jimmie Johnson is on both games. If he's a Hendrick fan in general there's a function to switch among teammates (so if Jimmie is winning big time, you can switch to Jeff Gordon's car). My biggest complaint with 09 (well I have 2) are the controls are different on 09 than previous years which is okay, but the older years seemed fine. My other complaint is that Carl Edwards isn't on the 09 game, which made absolutly no sense.
  22. Round Three!!! Jingle All The Way vs The Grinch Miracle on 34th Street- 1947 version with Maureen O'Hara vs Polar Express The Santa Clause vs Fred Claus Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas vs White Christmas Santa Claus- The Movie vs I'll Be Home For Christmas Santa Clause 2 vs Christmas Vacation Santa Buddies vs It's a Wonderful Life Elf vs Gremlins Three of my favorites have made it including my # 1 and 2 all time faves, but I'm diappointed that Home Alone didnt make it, and surprised The Santa Clause 1 & 2 are both still in it. Even more surprised that Santa Claus: The Movie is still in it (but I like that one). Too bad Die Hard couldn't have made it, but I guess there's always next year.
  23. Round 2 Jingle all the Way Vs Home Alone 2 The Grinch Vs Santa Clause 3- The Escape Clause Miracle on 34th Street- Original 1947 Version starring Natalie Wood and Maureen O'Hara vs Prancer Polar Express Vs Love Actually The Santa Clause Vs Home Alone Fred Claus Vs The Homecoming- A Christmas Story Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas Vs Holiday in Handcuffs White Christmas Vs Mickey's One Upon a Christmas Santa Claus: The Movie Vs Scrooge- 1951 - Alistar Sim The Christmas Shoes Vs I'll Be Home For Christmas The Santa Clause 2 Vs Scrooged Holiday Inn Vs Christmas Vacation Santa Buddies Vs Smokey Mountain Christmas Muppet Christmas Carol Vs It's a Wonderful Life Elf Vs Die Hard Gremlins Vs Four Christmases
  24. Thanks Brad and everyone else to keep this one of the best deal finding sites around. Obviously for Black Friday but also all year long. Keep up the good work.
