  1. I use TaxAct for personal and family returns. It is free, and super easy! I have used it for years, and have never had a problem with it. www.taxact.com It is so much better than turbo tax.
  2. I buy all party supplies on Ebay. Most are from Oriental Trading, but sellers offer them cheaper, and you can pick the quantities you need. Many of the sellers can put together a custom package of the things you want in the quantities you need, then offer them together to save shipping.
  3. H & R Block prices are ridiculous. The only coupons they typically offer are for new customers. I worked for them for years, and couldnt' believe the fees charged. Also, at our office, preparers really didn't know how much it would charge until the end. The computer adds costs for tons of little things. The average return costs between 150 and 250 to do. The cheapest I saw was for single people with one W-2. It was still around 90. Most smaller companies charge between 50 and 60 to file your federal and state. I charge 35 for Federal and 15 for State, as do many of the other CPA's in our town. I am an accountant, and most of the employees at H & R Block have had no training. Some take and pass the H & R Block course, but since it is given in September-October, only the people planning on working for them in January take it. When December rolls around and people are applying for the jobs, it is too late to take the course. The main reason that people will pay their outrageous fees is because they can be automatically deducted out of their refund check if they do the Rapid Refund. What kills me is that people will pay 300 to get their return done, plus another 150-400 in fees on the Rapid Refund, so they don't have to pay the 50 out of pocket somewhere else. If I didn't have the 50 dollars, I'd find a way to get it to save 600+ dollars! I just don't like to see people that need their money paying for H & R Block's newest advertising scams. This year, you can get a debit card with your refund on it, instead of a check. They even did early refunds for Christmas $$, charging horrendous fees. HTH!
  4. They bought out Famous Barr in Missouri too... straight down the toilet they went. Well.. as far as I know, they are still flushing around.
  5. I know.. I'm much more addicted to buying than making.. I think I buy about 200 things to complete one page.. and don't ever even start it.
  6. Ours was picked clean in scrapbooking. They had about 4 billion of the Stack 5 and photo stack 2, a few mismatched stamps, some open pens, and 3 empty paper trays. Ours usually has pretty good stuff, just very limited selection. Now there is nothing left but the empty pegs with a clearance sticker on them. I think that was to make me really upset when I saw what I missed.
  7. How does that make a difference? That's really odd. I would think they would scan the same. So does that mean I can use it in the very few places that don't take mastercard? I don't think any of our CC are mastercard.
  8. They have taken mine for a long time.. I remember writing checks, before we got the mastercard debit.. 3 years ago, I think. It expires this month, so that's probably right.
  9. I know that Target has these on clearance for around $14.00.. yes, the whole thing. Check the Perimeter Perusing thread. Ours was out.. of course.
  10. I also have the 29, got it on BF for $169.. when BB had the 39 for $159. That's a great deal. We looked and looked for deals on the 39, but couldn't find any. I am looking for a cord for mine too. But, the manual is very confusing because it says the 29 can AND cannot be hooked to a computer. The 39 takes a memory card, which was an important feature to me, and is positively compatible with windows software.
  11. What did everyone think would happen when they bought out thousands of stores nationwide? An upscale department store, suddenly in every shopping mall and outlet center in teh country?
  12. It is horrible!! I used GCO once, on the hunting blinds that got cancelled in November. They have no communication with the company, so will not refund the money. I had to call Dick's Sporting Goods about a hundred times, and was told that they have an actual google help desk in their office. Funny thing is that it was never staffed. I finally got them to email google, to get the debt resolved. You can only deal with goole through email, which sucks. Also, somehow in the mix up, they got my email address wrong, with a ! instead of a 1, so google couldn't even find my account to credit it. It took me a couple of weeks to get my $ back. and a LOT of time! It wasn't worth saving the money to me. I guess maybe my story is a rarity, but with it being my 1st time using them, I have no confidence.
  13. Did you see the story on the news about the guy that bought the house used in the original movie? He remodeled the house to look exactly like all of the sets on the movie, right down to the furniture. He also manufactures the leg lamps. http://travel.nytimes.com/2006/12/06/us/06cleveland.html http://www.leg-lamp.com/ Maybe this can help for ideas.
  14. This is still good!! Thanks for the 2 for 4 link. I had looked last night and not found but one thing I wanted. DD got into my lipstick, and it just happened to be on sale!!
  15. you just now got them? I got mine 2 weeks ago.
  16. last year I hit ours at an extra 75% off. I really wish I knew when/if that would happen again. I got coats for this year for $5 each, and tons of yoga pants and shirts for DD2 for less than a buck each.
  17. Sounds like a good investment! They got a LOT of my money too. I think about 75% of our gifts came from amazon this year. I had only ordered from them once before this season. I will definitely be a regular customer.
  18. nah, I'm too embarassed to tell them! You guys are different!
  19. That sounds so nice. We have been 5 places since noon yesterday, not including our house. This year, everything went right, and I floored my stuck-up family that set a $5 limit, by giving VERY expensive gifts, due to GD. Disney trikes for all the kids ($7), and free new release CD's for the rest. Dollar Tree lotion for the one I can't stand, LOL!!! I actually had time to take a 15 minute nap this afternoon, between stops. Now I'm still up, 2 6 packs later.
  20. target.com is always open! :)
  21. Oh no!!! We're lucky enough that everything we've tested has worked. But we haven't tested but a small percentage of all this stuff!
  22. 5:00. taking an hour break, then headed 2 more dreaded places. Just enough time to stop by the liquor store to make this journey more pleasant!
  23. That's wonderful. What a great manager to do that, and what a great company to send extras in order for your son to get his gifts. Have you spoken with them to see if you have to send it back? Let us know!
  24. Lowe's has some gas grills on sale this weekend. With a side burner and cover for $88.
