  1. I'm waiting for Sears and Lowes (we need a new snow blower), then probably Target and maybe Best Buy.
  2. Am I the only one who can't get the archived scans to work in Chrome? I can see them in IE, but not Chrome.
  3. Last year they had a 20% off one item coupon that I guess they aren't offering this year. I got my dehumidifier with that coupon. It's perfect for that stuff you know isn't going on sale (especially in November). However, my husband did ask for those halogen lights, so I guess I'll be making a stop there. I would rather shop a small business like Ace than Home Depot, it's just not as convenient of a location.
  4. Thanks for updating the map! It worked great for me!
  5. I'm not altogether opposed to it, but I can't participate in the early openings. My Thanksgiving is jam-packed already and I'm not going to drop any of that for the sake of a sale. The traditionalist in me misses sitting around the kitchen table, eating pumpkin pie, passing the ads around and then getting up in the middle of the night, getting in line crazy early in the cold and then shopping all day. The early openings take some of the fun out of that since I know I won't be there when the stores open. On the other hand, I understand that some people are happy to make holiday pay to work that day and some people are happy to include shopping as part of their Thanksgiving Day traditions. The only way to stop stores from opening on Thanksgiving is to not shop there on Thanksgiving. If retailers don't make enough money to warrant opening the doors on Thanksgiving, they won't. It would take a lot of people to make a statement and it probably won't happen, but that would be the only way to do it. Unrelated, KDSPARK, is that a neopet in your avatar?
  6. The more exciting thing for me was the announcement of Sears Friends and Family sale on the 9th. Same deals plus an extra 5-15% off!
  7. I'm kind of annoyed at this sale. How many times does Target think I'm going to drive all the way over there for a sale? My Target is about 20 minutes away. Not a crazy distance, but I'm not doing it two days in a row. I wish this sale was available online too.
  8. I've been trying to decide if it's better to buy from Kohl's on BF (online of course because I'm not going anywhere at 6pm on Thanksgiving) or wait for later in the season when I have a 30% off coupon.
  9. In the unlikely event that I find myself in a warmer climate on BF, I would consider camping out, if only for the experience. But not in New England.
  10. Sitting at the table with an old fashioned pen and paper, looking at paper ads, eating pumpkin pie. I'm all for technology, but there are just some traditions I don't want to break!
  11. Ha! Thanks! My little guy is still too young for that - thank goodness! I just have to get him something with Elmo and Mickey and he's a happy guy.
  12. First time mom here with probably a stupid question... What is the point of the toy catalog? Is it just giving you the sale prices for the pre-BF sale? My DS is still too little to make a list etc but I would like to get a feel of what toys are good for his age group. He's 18 months now.
  13. Not sure how much a new coat would cost, but promo code TREAT will get you $20 off $80 and free shipping, good until next week. Retail Me Not has a printable $10 off $50 and I think it's good on clearance: http://instore.thread.co/retailmenot/Aeropostale.com/offer/54IPYOW2HJHENLKNSBYPLTXHUY?click_id=FE87C796-BCEC-0072-AE5E-C245588AE8C3&uq=TUJIDKGKVRHYDDFTWAY27AMQFE&df=JSWBLM2S5NASVAUWT6P7T2247A

    Christmas Cookies

Spiced Orange cookies sound delicious! I can't wait for you to find that recipe! :-)
  15. Those are some pretty sweet coupons! I imagine the catalog will be in our mailboxes next week sometime. What would be really awesome is if the BF ad got leaked around then too and you would know if it's a better deal to buy now or wait a few weeks. *wishful thinking*
  16. Do you have a Firestone near you? They usually have a really good tire deal on BF and I think last year they had an extra coupon for the whole weekend. They are definitely open on BF too.
  17. Just thought of another good one. DH, another friend and I were second in line at Kohl's one year. (Apparently all my good stories happen at Kohl's!) We made friends with the girls in front of us, as you do on BF. They were sisters and they were waiting for their 3rd sister to get there. She called to ask them if they wanted anything from Dunkin Donuts and my buddy yells, "3 hot chocolates please!" She brought us 3 large hot chocolates and wouldn't let us pay for them. Turns out she was like 8 months pregnant, trying to get all her shopping done before the baby comes. When the store opened, we took her list and ran to the toy department for her. I just love it when the shoppers help each other!
  18. Do You Hear What I Hear?
  19. Have you tried Cherokee pants at Target? I have a very tall toddler and his Cherokee pants seem to last the longest. I don't know if the bigger sizes would work the same way, but it might be worth a shot?
  20. This is my favorite BF experience... It was the first year that Kohl's was opening at midnight. DH and I were coming from a friend's house and we figured we were right on time for Kohl's, so we'd get the few things we needed there and then go home to sleep for a few hours before the rest of the stores opened. We waited in the car until they opened the doors and then got in the back when the line started moving. They were only letting a few people in at a time so the line was moving slow. Then, out of nowhere, we hear screaming behind us. Then we see two teenagers STARK NAKED, running through the parking lot. Then two more came from the other direction running towards them. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen on BF and I would have missed it entirely if I had gotten to Kohl's any earlier!
  21. I'm amazed at all of you who Christmas shop through the year. I never know what anyone wants ahead of time!
  22. My husband has been wanting to start collecting Christmas village pieces. I've been kind of putting it off because we don't have a place to display them, but I spent some time on Pinterest and now I think I can make it work. Now my question is, what is the best brand for these collectibles? We've just been looking at the St. Nicholas Square villages at Kohl's. I think those are probably the least expensive and the most accessible for our family to get us for gifts. BUT, I think a true collector would turn up their nose at them. Just wondering if there are more experienced collectors here who can point me in the right direction. (Also, if any of you have pictures of your villages that you'd be willing to share, I would love to see them.)
  23. That's an interesting article. Thank you for posting. I shopped at Big Lots once on Thanksgiving and it was so depressing that I vowed never to shop on Thanksgiving again. That was several years ago, back when only a handful of stores were open that day. The cashier looked so miserable and there were only like 3 of us in the store. Obviously things are different now but I still don't feel right about shopping on Thanksgiving.
  24. Just throwing this out there... Do you think this new trend of opening Thursday has to do with where BF falls on the calendar? Last year, BF was as late as it could be (the 29th). This year and next year it's pretty late but in 2016, it's the the 25th. Would stores have felt the need to move it up if they didn't have a shortened season? It probably doesn't matter because, by the time 2016 hits, it's probably going to be the tradition to open that early. I don't see stores moving away from that until consumers prove to them that it's not what we want. But this is just something I have been thinking about...
