  1. I was second in line at Kohl's one year when they had a 5am opening. We got there around 3am maybe, and there was no one waiting but a few cars in the parking lot. We were just going to wait in the car, but as soon as we pulled in, a group of girls got in line so we did too. It's one of my favorite BF memories. They were so nice. They were sisters and they were waiting for a 3rd sister, who was 8 months pregnant, trying to get all her shopping done before the baby came. She actually brought us all hot chocolates. When the doors opened, we all ran to toys and filled up her cart. It was truly a team effort!
  2. I got an email that Maurice's isn't going to open on Thanksgiving either. Not that's a huge deal, but it was kind of nice that they sent out an email about it. I thought Apple stores were usually closed on Thanksgiving too?
  3. Thanks Brad! This is super helpful!
  4. Paw Patrol has replaced Bubble Guppies in my house, much to my dismay. I can't blame him because we've seen every Bubble Guppies episode 100x and they never come out with new ones. But Paw Patrol doesn't teach you anything. At least you learned something watching Bubble Guppies...
  5. Hatchimals seem to have blown up overnight! I saw them in the Target ad Sunday and had 3 separate conversations about them yesterday! My 3 year old is probably too young to get it. He has his sights set on the $60 talking Marshall from Paw Patrol. I think this is the year he finds out that Santa doesn't get you everything you ask for!
  6. I agree that it could be a game changer. I don't have the time to shop on Thanksgiving and I know that means I miss out on some of the in-store experience.

    Secret Santa?

Please let us know if there is anything we can do. (I mean it!) I am so sorry that you are struggling right now.
  8. Does this apply to prizes won during the year too?

    Secret Santa?

So sorry to hear that Pogi! Sending hugs and prayers!
  10. I have a Christmas club account too. $30/paycheck goes in through direct deposit so I never even think about it. (Probably should up that though now that I have 2 kids!) My credit card points go toward my student loans, so there's that little bit of savings too.
  11. I just saw your screen name and I think we should be BFFs! I do corporate budgets and planning for a living! :-)
  12. I saw that he hasn't been active in awhile and I got scared!
  13. When I was a Senior in college, a group I was involved with adopted a large family for Christmas presents and I was in charge of the shopping. I had to work that morning, so I got up super early and hit Toys R Us and got the whole family done. I was so pumped! After that year, I made it my business to get up early and get all the good deals. :-)
  14. You can see if they have a F&F sale in the beginning of November too. A couple of years ago, we did a weekend getaway during F&F weekend in a Settlers' Village outlet and scored some great deals!
  15. I just hosted an Usborne books party and I think I'm going to wait for Christmas to give DS1 some of his books. Other than that, only the things I bought last Christmas on clearance, like an huge teddy bear for my nephew. I'm hoping I can convince DH's siblings to just to do kids' gifts and then the adults go out and do something fun instead of giving each other gifts. It would make life so much easier for everyone.
  16. I am collecting these codes as well! Saving up for a free 8x8 Shutterfly book! :-)
  17. There are 28 weeks until Black Friday. Assuming most of us probably get paid every other week, that's 14 paychecks (15 if this Friday is your pay day). If you put away $35/pay period, you'd have almost $500 to spend on Black Friday. That's $2.50 a day, roughly the price of one delicious iced coffee! :-) I do budgets for a living. This is my thing.
  18. Now the question is... Do they do anything to make up for the fact that so many people have been locked out of their site today or is this just a loss and we all move on?
  19. There's a good Roomba on Amazon today. It's $369, which is a really good price for that model!
  20. My Kohls is usually fairly good about letting people through the door in an orderly fashion. They only have one entrance open and they let people through one at a time. If you're there early enough, the manager will know who you are. If you're that worried, you should take a visit to your store and find out what their policy is. I've never gone after a huge door buster, but I have been second in line at Kohl's and I don't remember any line cutters or anything getting in our way.
  21. Thanks to whoever recommended the "Watching" button on the app! I'm having a lot of luck scrolling through early and getting notifications when the things I want to look at go live!
  22. I thought toys would be 50% off but I'm not seeing it. Anyone else?
  23. They warned of an attack on Times Square. http://m.aol.com/article/2015/11/18/isis-new-york-video-terror-group-releases-warning-of-times-squa/21268718/#slide=3706689
  24. I think they will all be the same price wherever you go. I saw BBBY has 15% rebate on the Roomba 880 (I think).
  25. I've been worried about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Lots of people AND televised. God Bless your son. I'm sure his job is getting tougher and tougher these days.
