  1. I voted for Wal-Mart. Kind of hoping they try a different tactic and think they will get more customers just because their ad was "leaked". I have to admit since I found this site I have shopped at stores I would not have gone to if I had not seen their leaked ad well in advance of Thanksgiving Day.
  2. Spending time with extended family is the number one thing, with watching my nephews open their gifts a close second.

    How do you wrap?

For the past few years I have been using gift bags, this year will be the same since I have a bit left over from last year. However next year I plan to go back to pretty wrapping paper.
  4. I leave cheese and crackers as well in hopes Santa will leave me a few extra goodies! I simply adore that commercial. "I didn't leave him cookies, I left him Cheese!!!!"
  5. I simply adore Frosty's Rag by Anita Baker I love the jazz sound. I can listen to it over and over again.
  6. Santa has not stopped his yearly visits to leave me a gift or two, and has even started leaving a gift for hubby again. I tell hubby he must have been very very naughty not to have received gifts from Santa for so many years. He gets this nervous laugh when I tell him that lol.
  7. I have an idea of a homemade gift that I want to make for few people, but not sure just how I will go about putting it together. I want to use simple frames and make mats for a 4x6 photo. Centered at the top, using calligraphy, I want to place the words Remember When or Fond Memories. Under the photo area I want to place the following, a spin off of my favorite proverb.... Today becomes yesterday so fast, and yesterday soon becomes a distant memory. Live your todays in hope of fond memories tomorrow. I plan to use a snapshot that includes the recipient with family and or friends at a happy event, and enclose a note that the snapshot is just an example of my fond memory of them and that I would love to see what snapshots they use to show their own fond memory.
  8. I collect Christmas themed snow globes. I even one or two I leave out all year! I love Snow Globes!
  9. I have in the past, but I try not to make a habit of it, and of course it has to be a store on my shopping list. I give lots of warnings that I may not be able to get the item so if it is a must have they may venture out on their own.
  10. Growing up BF was mommy and me day. My mother and I would take that day just for us. Later on she started staying home with the grandkids so I started shopping alone on BF day. Last year, I hope, was the start of a new BF for me! I went with my sister, (her first BF out shopping), my mother, and my oldest aunt. We had a blast!
  11. This year will be much lower than last year. So far the budget stands at 300.00, but that may change lower or higher depending on any overtime I can get my hands on before November.
  12. 3 weeks!!! Where did the time go? I will be working extra hours this week and next week. (I want to clear my schedule for visting family starting Christmas day and into the week after.) I still need to wrap gifts, order the cake we are taking to our extended family Christmas dinner, make a centerpiece for that dinner, and box up some donation items for Goodwill. (I am sure I have forgotten a few things.) I will be here in two weeks talking about how half of what I have listed still needs to be completed. :holiday08
  13. I am so happy you found one! I look forward to reading about her reaction. :holiday08
  14. I have had maybe two concerns over the years of shopping with them, and their customer service has been wonderful each time. When others talk about their issues with them I usually hear it was resolved and the customer service was great. I am glad to hear one more good customer service report.
  15. Our mail person is very nice, but can use improvement in some areas. I was thinking of a card and a small box of cookies. Now the UPS man, are they allowed to accept gifts? I did just about all of my shopping online this year, and for a while the UPS man was stopping everyday! (He even stopped once out of habit and I didn't even have a package.) I wanted to get him something so I will be watching this thread for ideas.
  16. Cake and waffles! I love it! I've never heard of the pickle, but DH says he remembers something about it from his past. We are each going to hide a pickle and the first to find the other's will get to decide who picks out the tree for 2007.
  17. I have not wrapped one single thing! I am usually done by Thanksgiving weekend. I still need to make a centerpiece for our living room table that I saw on HGTV. Other than the above I am so ready for Christmas.
  18. My sister is 13 years younger than me, and we had so much fun keeping Santa's secret, but she was told Santa's secret at her babysitter's. She came home one day and told me, while rubbing my hand for support, and for me not to be sad. She was 4 at the time.
  19. Thank you for posting. I love looking at BF pictures. In my hurry I forgot my camera, I would have loved to get a picture of our BB from the highway.
  20. During the year I have found several nice gifts perusing Target, and when I found this thread I learned so much more!
  21. Oh wow! Wonderful! :holiday04 :holiday04 :holiday08
  22. I think my Target is using their space for the holidays. I went in today and found nothing more than the usual personal items marked down. Hoping they have some great things after the holidays. Anyone remember if they start marking down a lot of items closer to the end of the year in hopes of getting rid of it before the new year? This year has been my first as a steady perimeter peruser.
  23. Thank you! I kept meaning to look up the show schedule, but kept forgetting lol. Thank you so much. I love Christmas shows! :holiday08 :holiday08
  24. I went to a SuperCenter which didn't close. We walked around a bit getting PM items, and then found the pallets with the sales items we wanted and stood by them. A little before 5am someone decided they had waited long enough and ripped the wrap off of the portable dvd players and getting several and then a chain reaction started.
  25. Left a little bit later. We went to a SuperCenter WalMart and we were maybe one of 30 moving about the store. We got there a little after 3:40am. Didn't get crowded until just before 5:00am.
