Got some small wooden star shaped boxes at Michaels. the tops are magnetic and stick to the base. They were 1$ each. DS(7) colored 4 last night (the yellow highlighter looks great!). He used some beads and bells from last years Xmas crafts and made an ornament or bracelet with each of the 4 names on it, and put it in their box. total cost to us - less than 2$ each. Got my Son to color. (priceless). The boxes are a good size for paper clips or the like. Hopefully all will be appropriately thrilled.

something mom or dad would never buy.... in our house there is a rule - no toys that make noise... sure enough, Santa doesn't care about rules. Or money (which works as they get older... they know there is no way *I'd* spend that kind of money on them) how about a new bike?

I just handed DD a pair of gloves that she was going to get for hanukah. I often buy stuff for DH while he is there, or that I need his input for. The deal is he can't have it till hanukah, and he has to act suprised. works pretty well. Oh, and the rule is, you are not allowed to buy yourself stuff after... (insert date here)

I wouldn't get her jewlery... thats an awefully personal decision... but maybe jewlery cleaner?

my boss does small gifts - a favorite drink (soda or coffee) and a snack, just a token really... but she took the time to pick out the specific drinks, so it was personal. and equal. I don't know how company loyal his employees are... the break room update is a longer lasting gift, but less personal. As an employee, I feel most appreciated when I am recognized for something I do well. not a generic "your doing a good job" but a "wow, you really handled that situation well!" or "good work diffusing that" go way further than a agift... so I like the personalized cards. How much does he want to spend?

I've heard terrible things about sears auto service center.... Sams or Costco... maybe not the cheapest, but the best warranty, and they back their work.

Once you are own your own, the gifts usually go down some. Once you have kids of your own, they go down a lot.

these all seem overpriced... the charging station is as low as $20 at gamestop....
