  1. She lives in India, so I believe it is PAL..?? Does that make a difference to the DVD type? The voltage is also different.. The Canon Elura write to a mini DV; is that easier to use than a blank DVD as recording media??
  2. A friend who lives outside the US has requested me to buy a camcorder for her, she will pick it up in February '06 when she visits me. She wants one cos she's just had a lill baby girl.. Her requirements are simple: a versatile camcorder (takes decent still pictures as well) whose functionality is more intelligent than confusing, where the recording media is easy to use too- dvd as compared to mini dv etc., with night mode etc etc.. Most important: the budget is about $400 - $450. Another bit you might want to know: she isn't that computer savvy.. so extensive editing on the pc will be quite rare. I looked at the camcorder thread for BF, even saw some in a CC/ BB, but almost each one I see seems equivalent to or better than the previous! Am having a tough time deciding Finally: should I order it asap while the bf online deals are still on? Or will similar deals come by again till Feb?
  3. Ha, the sandisk 512 pro duo is available again online, search for the location Paramus/ postal code 07470. Shipping is free after rebate. Wierd, this seems to be the only location that has this.. and is still offering BF deal.. CC is crazy
  4. I think I will go to CC again tomorrow, lets see what happens. The corp 1800 number I'll try too.. I think more than the $19.99 I am more eager to find out how this ends! Thanks van929 and pcsoon for the infos.. am going to call the corp number and then look up the dell deal as well. And whatever happens, I'll certainly post here and let you know. You guys have been very helpful :)
  5. To alimfp, the manager too was part of the scam, remember? When I pressed for an answer he shouted that I was stopping him from carrying out his business.. I asked for his complete name (for complaint purposes) he said he din't have a visiting card. Now what kind of store director is that?! The video-tape is a good idea.. but I am torn between feeling cheated and feeling like haggling n making a big deal out of $20! I mean, I wonder if I should let it go AFTER all this trouble, or if I should chase it ESPECIALLY bcos of all this trouble!
  6. Yup, thanks- tho' I can use only the pro duo cos of my PDA and the 3.1 cybershot I have. The cybershot isnt compatible with the newer/ larger capacity memory stick pro, and anyway I intend to upgrade next year.. so $19.99 seemed a perfect amount to invest in some much-needed memory for a camera that would not be that much-needed in a year! But what you say about calling again.. you're right but I'm not sure I'm eager to be recognized as "oh, its the person I duped the other day"..
  7. I and another person were lucky enough to find sandisk memory stick pro duo 512 mb, priced at $19.99. We both picked them up right where they seemed to be dropped under where they are supposed to be hung. A smile to each other and we parted ways.. and 2 hours of shopping/ research later, the sandisk I bought refused to ring at the cash register. An advisor was told to take me to customer service and tell them to ADD the sandisk to stock; apparently their stock showed zero, so he cldnt see what he dint have. A Sales manager shows up at the customer service, asks for the problem description, assigns me to another advisor to look for another piece of the sandisk, as apparently the one I had was intended for pick-up. And assuring me that he'll try to match the price as much as possible, he sent me off, keeping the sandisk with him. Does this make sense? I mean, I was at the store, I picked a legit piece.. and its not that I gave the sandisk away to him, it was passed from the guy at the cash register to the advisor to this sales manager.. you have to give the product to the store people to scan and make a bill!!! It gets more amazing.. he was nowhere to be found when I got back!! And the 1-800 Circuit City customer service listened in... very empathetic, but of no avail! There are four store employees who know I had the damn thing, if that was ever to be doubted.. but still nothing can be done, right? The store director refuses to even listen! Apparently, someone forgot to pull off a piece from the floor when there was a web/ telephone order for the piece, so they snatched mine. Feel so cheated!!!! -Grrrr..-
